Luminato Power Supply Manual, rev0012 Introduction 1
Introduction
LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X (230VAC) and LPS-DX-X (-48VDC) are the power supply modules for the Luminato chassis. They are using primary switching mode technology providing high efficiency and reliability. LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X module is short circuit and over temperature protected and includes a PFC (Power Factor Correction). LPS-DX-X is protected against short circuit, reverse polarity and over temperature.
The specified output voltages and currents per circuit are 24V / 5.0A. Voltage is connected to the system via the Luminato chassis, so no connection cables are needed.
The power supplies have electrical screening of class 1 and they are intended for an indoor installation in a dry place. The units must not be installed in a place where they can be exposed to dripping or splashing water. The operating voltage is 110…240 VAC, 50-60 Hz for LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X, and -40...-70 VDC for LPS-DX-X.
Ensure that the Luminato is properly connected to the earth in order to meet safety requirements. Proper grounding will also improve the protection from the effects of interference and increase the overall reliability of the system. Ground the Luminato chassis using the grounding screw located near the main power connector. This unit may employ SFP module, which has a laser component. Due to the invisible laser radiation all necessary safety instructions must be followed during the installation and maintenance operations. In a properly closed system the normal operation of these components does not cause any radiation danger. The safety requirements for class 1M laser are detailed in EN60825.

Installation
Power Supply LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X
Mount (slide) the power supply module LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X into the most right-hand module slot of the Luminato chassis (back view).
Note! Pay attention to the protection cover of the module when inserting (or removing) the power module. Under some circumstances it can get stuck to the Luminato chassis (modules manufactured before year 2011).
Tight the attachments screws (1) by hand and lock the module into place by attaching the locking screw (2) using screw driver.
Note! Ensure that the Luminato is properly connected to the earth in order to meet safety requirements. Proper grounding will also improve the protection from the effects of interference and increase the overall reliability of the system. Ground the Luminato chassis using the grounding screw (3).

Backup Power Supply LPS-CX-X/LPS-GX-X Luminato uses external backup power for securing main power supply located in chassis. Backup Power is connected to the DC IN connector in the main power supply LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X or LPS-DX-X. Its internal switching circuit automatically takes power from external power supply, if main power supply fails.
Physically the backup power supply module can be installed either in the separate backup power supply chassis LCH-C-X-XXXX or Luminato main chassis LCH-A-X-XXXX/LCH-D-X-XXXX, if the main chassis has two free slots in top of each other.
Separate backup power chassis LCH-C-X-XXXX can be installed either to a rack cabinet rail or wall mount.
Mount (slide) the backup power supply module LPS-CX-X/LPS-GX-X into the mounting frame LCHC-X-XXXX.
Note! Pay attention to the protection cover of the module when inserting (or removing) the power module. Under some circumstances it can get stuck to the mounting frame (modules manufactured before year 2011).
Tight the attachments screws (1) by hand and lock the module into place by attaching the locking screw (2) using screwdriver.

Note! Ensure that the Backup power supply unit is properly connected to the earth in order to meet safety requirements. Proper grounding will also improve the protection from the effects of interference and increase the overall reliability of the system. Ground the Mounting frame using the grounding screw (3).
Note! Alternatively the backup power supply module can also be mounted into a free (double high) module slot of the Luminato chassis.
1. ALARM – Connect to EXT 1 or EXT 2 on the Power
Supply unit LPS-BX-X. Alarm fan fail or too high temperature error is signalled to Luminato chassis.
2. 24 VDC – 24VDC output of external backup power supply. Totally 3 + 3 outputs.
3. Main power - Connect with a main cable to a grounded 100 - 240 VAC 50/60 Hz power outlet.

Backup Power Supply LPS-FX-X Luminato uses external backup power for securing main power supply located in chassis. Backup Power is connected to the DC IN connector in the main power supply LPS-BX-X/LPS-EX-X or LPS-DX-X. Its internal switching circuit automatically takes power from external power supply, if main power supply fails.
Physically the backup power supply module can be installed either separate backup power supply chassis LCH-C-X-XXXX or Luminato main chassis LCH-A-X-XXXX/LCH-D-X-XXXX, if it has two free slots in top of each other.
Separate backup power chassis LCH-C-X-XXXX can be installed either to rack cabinet rail or wall mount.
Mount (slide) the backup power supply module LPS-FX-X into the mounting frame LCHC-X-XXXX.
