POST DRAFT “A” & “D” GRADES GO 7-0 100% LAST YEAR NOW HITTING 89% OVER 5 YEARS! The Post Draft Issue grades a team’s offseason a little differ- ently than most. The grades we put into Power Sweep predict whether a team’s record will improve or decline for the upcom- ing season. We take EVERYTHING into account. Included in the analysis are coaching changes, the NFL Draft, Free Agent signings, Free Agent losses and even favorable or unfavorable schedules. The “A” & “D” grades have been extremely accurate over the years. We spend a great deal of time and effort making these grades and while there was no list in ‘11 (work stoppage), here is a recap of the past 21 years as well as the record from the last 5 years with grades (‘09, ‘10 & ‘12-’15). “A” Better Worse Same Last 21 years 117 93 20 4 Better 79.4%, Same or Better 82.9% ‘09-’15 (excl ‘11) 33 28 5 0 Better 84.8% “D” Worse Better Same Last 21 years 64 51 9 4 Worse 79.6%, Same or Worse 85.9% ‘09-’15 (excl ‘11) 23 20 1 2 Worse 86.9%, Same or Worse 95.6% “A&D” Correct Incorrect Same Last 21 years 181 144 29 8 Correct 79.5%, Correct or Same 83.9% ‘09-’15 (excl ‘11) 56 48 6 2 Correct 82.7%, Correct or same 89.2% In 2015 we released a total of 7 teams which earned either an “A” or “D” grade. 7 of the 7 teams were correct including the 4 “A” teams all improving their record! '16 POST DRAFT

Offense: It appears that the Patriots will be a litle shorthanded early on with Brady's susp looming for the 1st 4 gms. they did address the QB position in the 3rd rnd for depth during his absence while the FA additions of Washington and Bennett in the passing game are solid. More add-ons via the draft have this unit earning an even grade for '16. Grade: eveNDefense: While the Pats do part ways with a few starters from a season ago, the additions in both FA and the draft appear to balance it out. this group is on par compared to last year. Grade: eveNOverview: the Patriots’ dominance against their mediocre AFC east opponents (79-23, .775 win percentage) since 2001 has helped them claim 13 division titles over the past 15 seasons. the schedule gets more difficult than last year as Ne draws both the AFC North and NFC West (4 combined playoff teams) along with fellow AFC division champs DeN and hOU.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS .......................GRADE: BOFFeNSe 374 ypg (#7)SCOrING 29.1 ppg (#3)

DeFeNSe 339 ypg (#9)SCOrING 19.7 ppg (#10)

Patriots: +35.0 ypg (#8) +7 TO's +9.4 ppg (#3)

Offense: While the loss of rB Miller is substan-tial, MIA does have plenty of offensive talent coming from the draft including 3rd rnd DC rB Drake and 1st rnd OL tunsil. With just 2 other starters departing in FA, MIA could surpass LY's lower than expected numbers. Grade: eveNDefense: there are plenty of big names coming and going on the MIA defense this season via FA. With many of the additions having proven track records at their prior stops, the Dolphins' defensive unit should also be near their num-bers from a season ago. Grade: eveNOverview: there are plenty of new faces on both the coaching staff and the roster this sea-son as Adam Gase enters his rookie campaign. the schedule features a brutal beginning to the season as MIA heads on the road to take on SeA, Ne and CIN over the first 4 wks (34-14 combined record in ‘15) and a 4-gm tilt w/Arz and all 3 AFC east foes to close out the year. this once highly productive franchise will miss the postseason for an 8th consecutive year.

MIAMI DOLPHINS ........................................GRADE: COFFeNSe 332 ypg (#26)SCOrING 19.4 ppg (#27)

DeFeNSe 376 ypg (#25)SCOrING 24.3 ppg (#19)

DeFeNSe 319 ypg (#4)SCOrING 19.6 ppg (#9)

Jets: +51.7 ypg (#4) +6 TO's +4.6 ppg (#8)

Offense: the Bills got much more than they expected out of QB taylor a ssn ago. that should be a substantial bonus for the tm as they head into '16. the additions and subtractions via FA and the draft won't effect the overall offense either way this season. Grade: eveNDefense: While BUF does part ways with De Williams after he failed to fit into ryan's defen-sive schemes, their overall additions in the draft (top 3 picks made on defense by BUF) should have them challenging LY's lower than expected numbers. Grade: eveNOverview: After a fairly aggressive and expensive offseason in ‘15 that saw BUF post just an 8-8 record, things were a bit quieter in Orchard Park heading into ‘16. the sked is obviously tougher with the AFC North & NFC West replacing the AFC South & NFC east of a yr ago. While ryan does have some previous history of leading teams to the playoffs (AFC Championship gms in ‘09 & ‘10 with the Jets), his overall record since has been mediocre to say the least (54-58 career record).

BUFFALO BILLS ........................................... GRADE: B-OFFeNSe 361 ypg (#13)SCOrING 23.7 ppg (#12)

DeFeNSe 356 ypg (#19)SCOrING 22.4 ppg (#15)

Offense: While rB Ivory moves on in FA and OL Ferguson opted to retire, the Jets made some solid moves in the offseason to fill those holes with Forte taking over at rB and Clady coming in to handle the Ot duties. Assuming that Fitzpatrick does return to the tm (hasn't as of presstime), the Jets will be close to LY's fine production. Grade: eveNDefense: the Jets lose a quartet of starters on the defensive side of the ball for 2016. While they add a pair of starters on an already solid DL, the additions of 1st rnd DC Lee and 3rd rounder Jenkins will be key for them to stay within the top 10 of the defensive rankings. Grade: eveNOverview: the Jets head into '16 with some confidence following LY’s 10-6 ssn under 1st year hC Bowles. the biggest issue they may be facing however is a tumultuous sked to start the yr as they will likely find themselves as a dog in each of the first 6 wks (face 5 playoff tms from ‘15 as well as a trip to BUF). With that being said, Bowles & company should have enough fight to get through the early trials and tribulations & push for a playoff spot.

'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: With BAL's success this millennium, it's been extremely rare to see them earn a top 10 DC. the addition of 6th overall pick Stanley to the OL gives them a solid Lt of the future to protect the blindside of Flacco. Grade: UPDefense: BAL adds one of the better playmak-ing S's in all of the NFL this ssn in Weddle who will immediately bolster LY's numbers. With 4 DC's in the 1st 4 rnds of the draft, this defense will be extremely solid. Grade: UPOverview: GM Newsome continues to be one of the best in the NFL in regards to both draft-ing and signing FA's. Following an unusually low finish a season ago, BAL now adds a top 10 DC to an already solid roster that returns the likes of Flacco, Forsett, Smith and Suggs from substantial inj's suffered a yr ago. In a very competitive div that has seen 2+ AFC North members earn playoff bids in 7 of the L/8 yrs, BAL has the experience and talent to get back on track.

Offense: While the Bengals do part ways with a pair of solid Wr's, the addition of FA LaFell and 2nd rnd DC Boyd should keep the unit close to LY. CIN did a solid job with replacing their offensive departures either through FA or the draft. Grade: eveNDefense: CIN used their 1st rnd DC to help bolster their secondary while FA addition LB Dansby gives the Bengals a veteran leader in the middle to help during the suspension of Burfict. the Bengals defensive success will be near LY's nice finish. Grade: eveNOverview: the Bengals have watched every other NFL team win at least one playoff game since their last postseason victory over the Oilers in 1990. With a rough schedule to start the year that features 4 road contests in the first 6 and a home game against DeN, it’s extremely unlikely that the Bengals will get out to the same fast start of a season ago.

Offense: After a #3 offensive performance in '15, this unit didn't need much tinkering in the offseason with the big news coming at te as FA Green replaces the now-retired Miller. While Wr Bryant is suspended, the PIt offense showed a year ago that they can continue to find success with some of their primary pieces missing. Grade: eveNDefense: With the secondary being a glaring need heading into the offssn, the Steelers addressed the issue quickly in the draft with selections in each of the 1st 2 rounds. With those additions expected to contribute immediately, the PIt def could very well improve. Grade: UPOverview: After matching up against the AFC and NFC West (4 combined playoff tms) a ssn ago, PIt got a bit of a schedule reprieve with the AFC & NFC east on this year’s docket. While they will be forced to go through '16 without the services of Wr Bryant, a now healthy rB Bell should stabilize a running game that was virtually nonexistent in the 2nd half of the season.

Offense: Following the 25th ranked offense (#30 scoring), the Browns only have one way to go in the offensive rankings for '16. While they do part ways with a handful of LY's start-ers, the handful of DC's and the addition of rG3 gives new hC Jackson plenty to work with. Grade: eveNDefense: the Browns had one of the league's worst defenses in '15 and this ssn doesn't look much better as the deletions far outweigh the additions with 5 starters (67 sts LY) moving on. the CLe defense is a significant liability! Grade: DOWNOverview: It’s Groundhog Day once again for CLe fans as they begin 2016 with yet another change in the coaching staff/front office regime. While the strength of opponents gets a little easier overall with the AFC/NFC east replacing the AFC/NFC West on the docket, the overall talent on the CLe roster needs upgraded before we see them compete in the always tough AFC North.

AFCSouth'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: After being shut out in the playoffs a season ago against the Chiefs, hC O'Brien and company made some significant upgrades on the offensive side of the ball with the FA signings of QB Osweiler & rB Miller and spending their 1st 4 picks in the draft to give him the weapons and protection needed. Grade: UPDefense: While the subtractions are somewhat light on the hOU defense, there are no real additions to talk about. After an amazing defensive run to end LY, it's hard to believe that this unit could deliver the same great performance. Grade: DOWNOverview: the texans have made nice progress under hC O’Brien with consecutive 9-7 marks and an AFC South title a season ago. the issue for hOU will be their schedule as 4 of their 5 non-divisional road games come against playoff teams of a season ago (including Osweiler’s 1st trip back to DeN on SNF).

Offense: After QB Luck missed a chunk of LY due to injury, the Colts spent a good portion of their early draft choices on the OL unit headlined by 1st rnd C Kelly who could give IND their first consistency at the position since the departure of Jeff Saturday in '11. Grade: eveNDefense: While the Colts lose a trio of starters from LY, they do get the FA addition of robinson and 2nd rnd DC Green to the secondary to help fill a pair of those roles. Following a dismal defensive performance a ssn ago, there is only one way for the overall defensive production to go for 2016. Grade: eveNOverview: the Colts’ dominance inside the AFC South over the past 4 seasons has been well documented as they have posted a 20-4 record while their 8 division titles. the Colts are facing a rough slate of road contests that features matchups against 5 squads that finished above .500 a season ago. Despite the competition on this year’s docket, IND should be able to take another run at the South.

Offense: After LY's 1st rnd pick QB Mariota and the rest of the titan QB's were sacked a league-high 54 times in '15, teN used the 8th overall pick to help with protection in Ot Conklin. 2nd rnd pick henry gives the titans offense a 2nd straight heisman winner (Mari-ota) while FA addition Murray will form a solid rushing duo. Grade: UPDefense: the titans bring in a handful of capable FA's and DC's that will immediately make an impact on the defense for '16. After the 27th worse scoring D in 2015, FA's Blake and McCain will heavily contribute in the secondary Grade: eveNOverview: the titans were successful for a 2nd consecutive offseason as they made some smart moves that included taking off the interim tag for Mularkey as hC and trading out of the #1 spot in the draft (added a slew of picks including the rams’ 1st rnd pick in ‘17) with franchise QB Mariota already on the roster.

Offense: After a solid #8 finish LY in ttl off, the Jags add another piece to their arsenal of weapons with rB Ivory joining. JAX will clearly be in the mix for another top 10 performance. Grade: UPDefense: After posting the 31st scoring D a ssn ago the Jaguars made some substantial moves on this side of the ball for 2016. those additions will immediately pay dividends highlighted by FA's Jackson and Gipson along with 5th overall selec-tion ramsey. JAX will make a huge jump up in the overall defensive rankings. Grade: UPOverview: With proven talent on the offensive side of the ball and the continued growth of Bortles, the major question for the overall success of JAX for 2016 may come down to how they handle their road trips, since they’ve come out victorious just once over their past 17 trips. Fortunately for the Jaguar faithful, their first 3 road games of ‘16 come against a trio of teams that combined for just a 13-35 mark a season ago. JAX could be in the running for a wildcard spot and earn their 1st playoff berth since 2007 as Bradley’s players have fully bought into his coaching philosophies.

AFCWEST'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: the Broncos will be enduring some substantial losses on the offensive side of the ball for the '16 season. the biggest departures come at QB with both Manning (ret) and Osweiler (hOU) moving on. the position is clearly in flux for '16 as FA addition Sanchez has been mediocre throughout his career and 1st rnd DC Lynch needs some time to develop. Grade: DOWNDefense: the DeN defense carried the team all the way to a SB title LY. While they do lose a pair of high-contributing starters, the FA addition of Crick and DC's Gotsis and Simmons could have the unit close to LY's fine finish. Grade: eveNOverview: While DeN gets some of their key matchups this ssn at home including an open-ing night rematch with CAr, they may have trouble reaching the 12-win plateau for a 5th consec year with the uncertainty at QB.

Offense: the biggest changes on the Chiefs offense for 2016 come on the OL as 3 starters from a season ago depart with a trio of FA veterans sliding in. the additions in the draft were minimal at best. Grade: eveNDefense: With a quiet offseason on the FA front, the biggest additions for the KC defense come on the defensive side of the ball with 2nd rnd DC Jones and 3rd rnd DC russell looking to make immediate impacts. Grade: eveNOverview: While the Chiefs did see their 11-game winning streak end last January against Ne, they should be entering 2016 with quite a bit of confidence in their attempt to knock off Denver from the top spot in the AFC West for the first time in 6 seasons. the Chiefs do open with a pretty favorable schedule to begin the season, an area that they struggled in a year ago with a very rough start.

Offense: Following some solid improvement a season ago in which the raiders displayed consistency, the changes on the offensive side of the ball are minimal with FA Osemele replacing the departed Webb on the OL. With Carr back under center, OAK could shoot up the rankings again. Grade: eveNDefense: While the raiders are making wholesale changes on this unit again for '16, the additions far outweigh the deletions. While future hOF'r Woodson is gone, OAK adds 2 starters to the secondary, LB Irvin from SeA and 1st-3rd rnd DC's. OAK will have a strong defensive presence for '16. Grade: UPOverview: With 3 road matchups in the first 4 weeks of the season along with a pair of playoff teams from a year ago inside of their division, the raiders may be a year away from returning to the postseason picture despite the improvement among the roster.

Offense: While QB rivers does see the depar-ture of Wr Floyd and te Green, the FA addition of Benjamin gives the offense a sorely-missing downfield threat in '16 while te henry comes in via the 2nd rnd as the heir-apparent to Gates. OL Slauson fits in nicely to the unit along with 3rd rnd DC tuerk. this group is on par from LY. Grade: eveNDefense: the loss of Weddle in the secondary is a huge loss for the Chargers defense. While they do add in some FA's and the 3rd overall pick in the '16 draft in Bosa, tY's defensive departures combined for 57 starts a season ago. Grade: DOWNOverview: the schedule makers didn’t make things easy early on as SD heads on the road on 5 occasions throughout the 1st 8 wks of the ssn (1-7 away LY) with their 3 home matchups coming against an improving JAX squad, former SD QB Brees (NO) and the defending Champs (DeN) on thur Night. SD may find themselves near the bottom of the NFL once again.

Offense: While the eagles do need to introduce a new system with the departure of hC Kelly, the updated schemes may see more production for QB Bradford as he welcomes some help among the Wr unit. the departures, although substantial (Murray) won't effect this unit on the season. Grade: eveNDefense: the eagles lose 4 starters from LY's unit while paying virtually no attention to the group via the draft (just 6th & 7th rnd picks). While they could show improvement on the overall numbers by being on the field less (no more fast-paced offense), the talent just isn't there for 2016. Grade: DOWNOverview: After falling short of last year’s high expectations, PhI went back to their roots for the 2016 season by hiring a familiar face in former eagles QB and assistant coach Doug Pederson as hC. the big concern for the eagles is their schedule as most of their winnable games come at home with trips to ChI (MNF), SeA, CIN and BAL on the non-division road docket.

'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: the Cowboys get some huge ad-ditions in the backfield in 1st rnd DC elliott and FA Morris. With a now healthy romo and Bryant, this offense will clearly improve upon LY's #31 scoring offense. Grade: UPDefense: While the Cowboys do add stand-out LB Smith via the draft, his impact won't be felt until '17 as he rehabs a knee injury. the issue in DAL for the upcoming year will have to do with the front 7 as they lose a handful of players and are also forced to deal with susp's of Gregory, Lawrence and McClain. Grade: DOWNOverview: the Cowboys have been a symbol of mediocrity over the past 19 seasons (won last Super Bowl in 1995) with a 152-152 regular season record (3-8 in the playoffs). While the defense could be a liability early on due to susp's, the offense is clearly headed in the right direction.

Offense: the Giants had a top 10 offense a season ago and the offseason additions and deletions are minimal at best with 2nd rnd DC Shepard possibly making the biggest impact of the new arrivals with the health issues that Cruz has had over the past couple of seasons. Grade: eveNDefense: the Giants are bringing potentially 6 new starters to the defensive mix for the upcoming season highlighted by De standout vernon. After posting the league's worst defense in 2015, this group is clearly ahead of those unacceptable marks. Grade: UPOverview: Following 12 seasons as the hC of the Giants, tom Coughlin (2 SB wins) parted ways with the team turning the reins over to Ben McAdoo who spent the prior 2 years here as the OC (retained a good portion of Coughlin’s staff including DC Spagnuolo). the schedule is balanced enough throughout the season to see the Giants make some strides and aim for the top spot in the always unpredictable NFC east.

Offense: Following the NFL's best QBr a sea-son ago in his 1st full year as a starter, Cousins adds a significant weapon to his arsenal in '16 with 1st rnd DC Wr Doctson. the FA deletions are greater than the additions but this group is clearly even overall. Grade: eveNDefense: the redskins added one of the big-gest FA's in the offseason in CB Norman while fellow FA reyes and DC's Cravens and Fuller are also significant additions. After posting the #28 defense in the NFL in '15, the WAS defense will see a solid move up the rankings. Grade: UPOverview: WAS is still feeling the after effects of the rG3 trade, which has stunted their overall roster growth. After taking on a weak non-divisional home slate a year ago in which their opponents combined for a 34-46 overall record, the slate gets much tougher for the redskins in ‘16 as they host 4 playoff teams from ‘15 along with a robert Griffin-led Browns squad.

'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: the Bears lose quite a few key offensive players this offseason including rB Forte and te Bennett. While they did a solid job of handling the departures on the OL via FA and the draft, the overall offensive production could suffer. Grade: DOWNDefense: the Bears defense will be much more stable in the LB unit for '16 as they add a pair of 100+ tacklers from a ssn ago while also spending their 1st rnd pick at the position. the additons are far superior to the deletions on this side of the ball. Grade: UPOverview: the Bears have their work cut out for them in 2016 as they reside in a division that features 3 teams that have earned trips to the postseason in the past 2 years. While they lose the likes of OC Gase and rB Forte on offense, the schedule gets much easier with the NFC and AFC West being replaced by the NFC east and AFC South.

Offense: While the Lions added help on the OL to fix a dormant run game, the loss of Wr Johnson to ret is substantial. Det adds a trio of Wr's in Jones, Caldwell and Kerley to ease the transition. the overall offensive unit is close to LY. Grade: eveNDefense: the Lions lose some significant de-fensive contributors from a year ago including 5 starters. they do add 2nd rnd DC robinson to the DL, but this group is clearly a concern with all of the departures. Grade: DOWNOverview: Det has been through large doses of inconsistency in the history of the franchise. the biggest challenge for Det for the upcoming year may come with their schedule as 3 of their first 4 gms are away from Ford Field. the issues don’t end there however, as they close the ssn out with trips to the Giants and Cowboys followed by a home finale against GB. Unless they can string together a solid run in the middle of the year when the schedule is softer, another losing season could very well be in the offing.

Offense: While the Packers chose to not re-sign LY's leading receiver Jones, they do return Nelson following '15's ACL inj. the rest of the unit remains virtually intact with minimal help coming at both te and OL. Grade: eveNDefense: GB will be missing 4 starters from a season ago when they kickoff the '16 campaign. While they do add in 1st rnd DC Clark to the DL, the losses far outweigh the additions this year. Grade: DOWNOverview: GM ted thompson handled the offseason as he has done in each of his 12 years in GB by spending minimally on FA and building through the draft. After falling just short of another NFC North title and the 6th season of 11+ wins under McCarthy (most in franchise history) a year ago, the Packers are poised to make another deep playoff run with a more favorable schedule than they were forced to navigate in ‘15.

Offense: the vikings did an excellent job of adding to their offense for the upcoming season with the 1st rnd addition of treadwell at Wr and a pair of solid OL's to help pave the way for LY's league-leading rusher. Grade: UPDefense: hC zimmer continues to push the right buttons on the defensive side of the ball and tY's additions give the group even more depth. the vikings defense should continue to find solid success. Grade: eveNOverview: While MIN posted an 11-6 mark in 2 seasons at its temporary home tCF Bank Sta-dium (home of the Minnesota Golden Gophers), they now enter their first year inside of US Bank Stadium giving them a boost similar to the hey-days of the Metrodome (home opener Wk 2 vs GB on SNF). With the 2016 schedule featuring non-divisional play against the NFC east and AFC South (NFC & AFC West LY), the vikings have a path created to potentially reach the double-digit win plateau for a 2nd consecutive season.

NFCSouth'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: the Falcons appear to be in better shape offensively as the 2016 season begins with the solid additions of OL Mack and Wr Sanu to OC Shanahan's 2nd year offense. this could very well result in another top 10 offensive performance. Grade: UPDefense: AtL's offseason on the defensive side of the ball was a virtual wash as their additions via the draft and FA will even out their departures. the adding of 1st rnd DC Neal is intriguing for the defense-oriented hC Quinn. Grade: eveNOverview: the 2016 schedule is more difficult with the AFC West and NFC West replacing the AFC South and NFC east of a season ago (road games vs DeN and SeA in B2B weeks in Oct). the Falcons may have difficulty reaching the .500 mark for a 2nd consecutive year.

ATLANTA FALCONS .................................GRADE: B+OFFeNSe 374 ypg (#7)SCOrING 21.2 ppg (#21)

DeFeNSe 348 ypg (#16)SCOrING 21.6 ppg (#14)

Falcons: +26.5 ypg (10) -7 TO's -0.4 ppg (#15)

Offense: It was a fairly quiet offseason on the offensive side of the ball with very few additions and deletions. the biggest news for the offense will be the return of Wr Benjamin from injury. Grade: eveNDefense: the Panthers lose some significant pieces to their secondary of a season ago with 3 starters no longer with the team including CB Norman. If the secondary struggles, the Panthers will be clearly less effective on this side of the ball for 2016. Grade: DOWNOverview: While CAr has to head to Denver for the thursday Night game to open the NFL season, the rest of their ‘16 schedule is manageable enough to make another deep playoff run. We will side with recent history however and call for the Panthers to come up short of their 2nd consecutive Super Bowl with the likes of Arz, GB and SeA potentially in their path.

CAROLINA PANTHERS .........................GRADE: D+OFFeNSe 367 ypg (#11)SCOrING 31.3 ppg (#1)

DeFeNSe 323 ypg (#6)SCOrING 19.3 ppg (#6)

Panthers: +44.0 ypg (#5) +20 TO's +12.0 ppg (#1)

Offense: the Saints' additions and deletions on the offensive side are quite balanced with te Fleener and 2nd rnd DC Wr thomas highlighting the new additions. this will be a top 10 offense again as long as Brees remains under center. Grade: eveNDefense: there's only one way to go for DC Allen's defense in 2016 and they spent a good portion of the offseason dedicated to bringing in help in both FA and the draft highlighted by 1st and 2nd rnd DC's. Grade: UPOverview: After having a league-leading 25 new players for the 2015 season, the roster appears to be more stable as the Saints head into 2016. the biggest obstacle preventing the Saints from getting back to the .500 mark for 2016 could be a rough ending to their schedule, as they face 3 road games over the final 4 weeks including a trip to the desert to take on the Cardinals.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ......................GRADE: B+OFFeNSe 404 ypg (#2)SCOrING 25.5 ppg (#8)

DeFeNSe 414 ypg (#31)SCOrING 29.8 ppg (#32)

Saints: -9.6 ypg (#18) +2 TO's -4.3 ppg (#22)

Offense: the biggest surprise for the Bucs came with a 2nd rnd DC for K Aguayo. the additions and deletions are pretty balanced on the remainder of the offense. Grade: eveNDefense: the Bucs did a good job in the offseason in building up the defense including a 1st rnd selection of CB hargreaves. the FA additions of Smith, Grimes and Ayers will also pay immediate dividends. Grade: UPOverview: the smartest thing the Bucs’ front office did this season was promoting Dirk Koetter to the hC position. Koetter is well known for developing young talent and appeared to have an excellent rapport with Winston throughout his rookie year. While the team is better overall (league-high 69 starts by rookies LY), the schedule (NFC & AFC West replaces NFC east & AFC South) is much more difficult. With consecutive road trips to begin the year and a trio of tough matchups (at DAL, at NO, vs CAr) to close out the season, the Bucs’ battle to avoid a 3rd consecutive double-digit losing campaign could be a significant challenge.

'16 POST DRAFT

Offense: While the Cardinals will have some new faces lining up among their OL, the rest of the offense is back for '16 following the NFL's best mark of 408 ypg in '15. this unit will be on par with LY's fine group. Grade: eveNDefense: Despite losing a few starters from their '15 secondary, the Cardinals have plenty of weapons available among the group. the biggest offseason changes for Arz come on the DL with the additions of Jones and 1st rnd DC Nkemdiche. the Cardinals will have a top 10 defense once again. Grade: eveNOverview: the Cardinals have become relevant again with the hiring of Arians and the solid handling of personnel by GM Steve Keim. Arz also lands a pretty fortunate setup on their schedule as they open at home against a tom Brady-less Patriots squad while getting to host 5 of their first 7 to get the year started off in the right direction.

DeFeNSe 408 ypg (#5)SCOrING 19.6 ppg (#2)

Cardinals: +86.6 ypg (#2) +9 TO's +11.0 ppg (#2)

Offense: LA made the biggest splash of the 2015 Draft by giving up a king's ransom to move to #1 overall and select QB Goff to go with LY's rookie of the Year & former 1st rnd DC rB Gurley. Goff's contributions will be average at best as a rookie while the other offensive additions are mild at best. Grade: eveNDefense: the departures on the rams de-fense far outweigh the additions for 2016 as LA loses 3.5 starters, including 2 of their top 3 tacklers. from LY and bring in just Sensabaugh from teN. the DL will have to carry this unit if they are to improve. Grade: DOWNOverview: the rams went through quite the offseason with their return to Los Angeles (here from 1946-1994) and moving up to the #1 spot in the NFL Draft to select Goff. While they catch the 49ers on a downward swing again for this season, matching up against the likes of Arz and SeA appears to be a significant challenge in the NFC West.

Offense: New hC Kelly utilized the end of the draft to stockpile offensive players along with trading back into the 1st rnd to grab OL Garnett. While the FA departures are more than the ad-ditions, the drafted players brought in make this group even this offseason. Grade: eveNDefense: All was quiet on the defensive front in the offseason with nothing happening in FA. they do add another Oregon DL to the group in the 1st rnd in Buckner. Grade: eveNOverview: the 49ers are a prime example of how quickly a team’s fate can change as they went from 3 consecutive trips in the NFC Championship game from ‘11-’13 to just a 13-19 overall mark the past 2 years including a last place finish in the NFC West in ‘15. With a rough start to the season that features road trips to CAr and SeA in the first 3 weeks of the year along with 4 road trips over the final 6, Kelly will clearly need his team to buy in to his schemes early on if the 49ers are to avoid another trip to the cellar in the NFC West.

Offense: the retirement of rB Lynch had an obvious impact on the SeA draft plans as they selected players in the 3rd, 5th and 7th rounds to compete with rawls and Michael for spots in the rotation. the only other substantial losses come on the OL but SeA did a good job by filling those holes via FA and the draft. Grade: eveNDefense: the Seahawks return one of the found-ing members of the "Legion of Boom" secondary this ssn with Browner (Ne & NO L2Y). the rest of the comings and goings balance out in FA and the draft. Grade: eveNOverview: While the sked gets a little easier with the AFC & NFC North’s being replaced by the AFC east & NFC South, their Oct 23rd and Dec 24th matchups against Arz will be the key in their attempt to re-claim the NFC West. When the dust settles at the conclusion of the ‘16 regular season, SeA should find themselves delivering yet another 10+ win performance while appearing in the postseason for the 10th time in the past 13 years.
