5. In terms of a criminal conviction, the Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004 provides certain convictions do not have to be disclosed providing:

Ø You have not committed any offence with 7 (consecutive) years of being sentenced for the office and

Ø You did not serve a custodial sentence at any time (this would exclude serious offences such as murder, manslaughter, rape and causing serious bodily harm) and

Ø The offence was not a specified offence (specified offences are in the main sexual in nature) and

Ø You have paid any fines or costs.

Custodial sentences include a sentence of preventive detention and corrective training. Non-custodial sentences including fines, reparation orders, community based sentences and suspended sentences. Please note that you are not obliged to disclose convictions if you are an eligible individual but can do so if you wish. Academy Overview Te Aratika Academy is a Designated Character School. Learning at Te Aratika is provided through an English and Māori medium environment that acknowledges and celebrates Māori and Pacific heritage. The programmes include Māori learning preference and behaviours such as:

Ø ako – student is teacher and learner and whānau is inseparably part of the learning environment

Ø whakapapa – students can proclaim their identity, place, context and the mana of these Ø whanaungatanga – nurturing quality teaching/learning relationships Ø whānau – promotes the inclusion of family in all discussions about the student Ø tuakana-teina – a buddy system that provides a model for all learning that recognises the

ako of the tuakana teina roles Ø kanohi-ki-te-kanohi – face to face interactions is the preferred way of communicating for

Māori. The school takes a culturally inclusive, holistic and kinaesthetic approach in order to effectively engage young males, many of whom are Māori and Pasifika, and might not have experienced success in a mainstream education settings. Learning has a focus on providing a link between education and future employment, with a specific focus on civil construction in the workplace. Other industry pathways will also be included. This enables students to apply knowledge and learning to real life work situations.

Position Description Position Title Pou Arahi - Learning Facilitator Reports to Principal Working Relationships

External: Te Kura - Correspondence school, Te Aratika Drilling Internal: DP, all staff, students and parents, wider school community, outside agencies involved in the school.

Purpose of the position The role of the Pou Arahi is to provide a highly developed teaching and learning environment within a Māori socio-cultural model for the learners. As well, Pou Arahi support and provide collegial assistance to Pou Whenua. Specific key performance indicators will be developed with the position holder once employment has commenced.

Key Tasks: Objectives:

Digital Tech Management of school digital resources E-learning Pathway development: Promote and advocate the use of IT to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum. Develop digital literacy, capacity and fluency in staff and students alike.

Curriculum Learning Areas English: Development of the planning, cross curricular integration, assessment, design and moderation.
