DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The Studio Stage has the shape of a hexagon. It seats up to 200 guests, depending on the set-up of the auditorium. The set-up most often used is similar to a thrust stage. The Studio Stage is a low profile stage when it comes to stage technology but offers a good speaker system and lighting equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The Main Stage has a seating for 550 guests and incorporates auxiliary back and wing stages, a fly tower with hydraulic flying facilities, a revolving stage and an orchestra pit for up to 30 musicians The large wings contain room and equipment for stage management, set changes , props and sundry, while at the back of the auditorium are the control rooms for light and sound systems. Central to the backstage facilities is a general service area for actor and other personnel. Here are to be found the dressing rooms and the make-up room encircling a comfy “green room”.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The New Stage, seating up to 240 guests, is a black box. Most often it is used as an End stage. The New Stage is a low profile stage when it comes to stage technology but offers a good speaker system and lighting equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The performance area is a studio space in the west side of Reykjavík. It is under constuction at the moment but will be a 12,5mx12,5m studio with a 3,5 m ceiling height. The back wall is without windows and windows on sides can be blinded. There will be black marley dance floor. The Dance Atelier is a workspace for choreographers with 3 studios on the 2nd floor and a small office, kitchen and social space on the 1st floor.

SEATING: Seating can be arranged on chairs, mattresses or benches as serves the performance.

3) GAMLA BÍÓ— INGÓLFSSTRÆTI 2A, 101 REYKJAVÍK

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: A historic building in the heart of Reykjavik, originally built as a movie theater by the Danish gentleman Peter Petersen. The house opened for business in 1926 and Mr. Petersen had his own apartment on the top floor known as the Petersen-suite. There were regular movie shows in Gamlabíó from the start and the house was also home to many remarkable concerts and events. From the year 1981 until 2011 it was home to The Icelandic Opera which since then has moved to the new concert hall “Harpa” by Reykjavik harbour. New owners took over Gamla bíó in 2013, and started renovating in June 2014. Gamla bíó has been totally updated to meet today´s requirements, regulations and demands, but in keeping with the original architecture and design of the building. We are proud to say that Gamla bíó now has a new life, still as dignified as before and today it is a beautiful historic building with multifunctional purpose, where we can house and operate all kinds of events. Concerts, conferences, weddings and more.

4) GERÐARSAFN / KÓPAVOGUR ART MUSEUM– HAMRABORG 4, KÓPAVOGUR

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Gerðarsafn – Kópavogur Art Museum is a progressive museum with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art. The museum was built in memory of artist Gerður Helgadóttir (1928–1975) and opened in 1994. Gerður Helgadóttir was a pioneer of three-dimensional abstract art and glass art in Iceland. The exhibition program echoes the museum‘s status as the only Icelandic museum built in honor of a female artist. Gerðarsafn offers temporary exhibitions with works by Icelandic and international contemporary artists as well as displaying the museum collection. Located in the heart of Kópavogur which is the second largest community in Iceland with 32.000 inhabitants and 10–15 min bus ride from the Reykjavik city centre. There are three exhibition halls in the museum. Two on the upper floor with overhead lighting; while the third, a multipurpose hall, is on the lower floor. Note: During the festival there will be a standing exhibition throughout the museum building.

5) HARPA CONCERT HALL–AUSTURBAKKI 2, 101 REYKJAVÍK

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Kaldalón is the smallest hall in Harpa and is located on the first floor on the north side of the building. It is well suited for all types of music, plays and various kinds of artistic events. The coloured lighting in the walls can be changed, and the acoustics are adjustable. Kaldalón is equipped with state-of-the-art sound, projection and lighting equipment. Kaldalón has its own backstage facilities. There are two spacious dressing rooms with lavatories, mirrors, cupboards and showers. The area Norðurbryggja, in front of Kaldalón, has views over the small boat harbour and is highly suitable for various kinds of receptions or exhibitions that can be booked in connection with events held in Kaldalón.General information.

HALL DIMENSIONS: 19.8 m².

HALL INFORMATION: 8 metres, sloped floor, width and depth of stage: 11 × 7 m. Fixed seats with collapsible writing tables. Adjustable reverberation time 0.9–1.4 sec. Concerts are recorded, film and sound, in exchange for a fee if requested. Screen projection facilities for hire. Some floor outlets for computers and electricity. Access to wireless network for staff.

SEATS: Up to 195 seats. The stage in Kaldalón can be enlarged by removing one or two rows of seats at the front of the hall, in which case the number of seats will decrease correspondingly.

SOUND SYSTEM: 4× Meyer UPA • 2× Meyer 600HP. The sound system distributes amplified sound equally around the hall.

LIGHTING: 12× ETC Source 4 25°–50°. 8× Selrama 150°. 9× ETC Source 4 front There are numerous lighting options available in the building, including spotlights, moving lights and hazers.

5) HARPA CONCERT HALL–AUSTURBAKKI 2, 101 REYKJAVÍK

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Norðurljós is located on the second floor at Harpa. Norðurljós is an extremely versatile hall suitable for most types of concerts and artistic events, and its acoustics are adjustable. It is equipped with specially designed lighting in the walls which can be set to various colours. The stage is moveable and changeable in size. The basic rent is based on the stage being 8 m x 5 m x 80 cm. Two soundproofed portals connect Norðurljós and Silfurbeg so that the halls can easily be used together for larger events. Norðurljós, moreover, offers first-class sound, projector and lighting equipment.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Hall dimensions: 540 m², 27 m × 20 m (length × width). Ceiling height: 10 metres. Flat floor. Moveable stage and adjustable in size at additional cost. Moveable seating on the floor and balconies. Adjustable reverberation time 1.2–2.9 sec. Concerts are recorded, film and audio, in exchange for a fee if requested. Screen projecton facilities for hire. Some floor outlets for computers and electricity. Access to wireless network for staff. Balconies all round the perimeter.

SEATS: Up to 606 seats, whereof 56 on the balconies. Accommodates up to 800 standing. The number of seats in Norðurljós is variable depending on the size of the stage and on whether a light desk and sound mixer is installed in the hall. All seats can be removed in case the concert is standing room only.

FLOOR AREA: 540 m2.

SOUND: 4× Meyer CQ1 speakers. 4× Meyer 600HP speakers. 2× Meyer UPA junior speakers. The sound system distributes amplified sound equally around the hall. A sound mixer must be hired in order to use the speaker system. Project managers will provide quotes for additional sound equipment as requested. Outsourced equipment, other than musical instruments and instrument amplifiers, is not permitted except as specifically negotiated. The building’s employees are always responsible for setting up technical equipment.

LIGHTING: 10× ETC Source4 36°. 4× ETC Source4 15/30. 4× Selrama 150°. There are numerous lighting options available in the building, including spotlights, moving lights and hazers. White basic lighting is included in the rent price. The colours of the wall lights in Norðurljós can be adjusted.

5) HARPA CONCERT HALL–AUSTURBAKKI 2, 101 REYKJAVÍK

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Silfurberg is on the second floor of Harpa. The hall is mostly used as conference hall and is equipped with a large range of projector and lighting equipment, sound systems and interpreter booths. The hall is also suitable for electronically amplified music of various types. Seats are moveable and the floor is flat. It is possible, however, to install integrated sloped seating at the end of the hall. The hall may be divided in two by a sound dampening retractable partition, in which case each section can seat 300 guests. Two soundproofed portals connect Silfurberg and Norðurljós so that the halls can easily be used together for larger events. Eyri, the area outside Silfurberg, may be rented additionally or separately for various events. Eyri has good acoustics for unplugged musical performances.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Hall dimensions: 735 m². Ceiling height: 7.7 m. Flat floor. Moveable stage and adjustable in size at additional cost. Movable seating and partially retractable. Screen projection facilities for hire. Some floor outlets for computers and electricity. Access to wireless network for staff. Interpreter booths. Control booths at both ends of the hall.

SEATS: Up to 721 seats. Whereof 300 are retractable seats on a slope. Up to 1100 standing. The number of seats in Silfurberg is variable depending on the size of the stage and whether a light desk and sound mixer is installed in the hall. All seats can be removed in case the concert is standing room only.

FLOOR AREA: 735 m2.

SOUND: 16× Meyer Melodie speakers. 6× Meyer 600HP speakers. 4× Meyer UPA speakers. The sound system distributes amplified sound equally around the hall. Outsourced equipment, other than musical instruments and instrument amplifiers, is not permitted except as specifically negotiated. The building’s employees are always responsible for setting up technical equipment.

LIGHTING: White basic lighting. 4× Selrama 150°. 7× ETC Source 15/30. There are numerous lighting options available in the building, including spotlights, moving lights and hazers. Once a needs analysis has been carried out and the technical information is available, Project managers will provide quotes for additional lighting equipment as requested. We also offer lighting design if requested, for a fee.

6) SMIÐJAN / ICELAND ACADEMY OF THE ARTS—SÖLVHÓLSGATA 13, 101 REYKJAVÍK

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: A medium sized blackbox with four pillars evenly spaced throughout the room. The space is on the first floor of the Theatre Department of the IAA and includes a small dressing room and technical booth. We have a 96 channel ETC Sensor dimmer and an ETC Element desk. There’s a Meyer sound system with mobile speakers attached in the ceiling.

SIZE IN SQUARE METERS: 250 Ceiling.

HEIGHT STAGE AREA: Most commonly the space is used with a “stage area” of 6.20x4.50 or 6.20x8.85m.

SEATING: Seated risers with maximum capacity of 60.

FLOOR TYPE: Wooden floor, painted black.

LIGHT, SOUND, FILM SCREENING FACILITIES: The department has a few projectors, but there’s no big projection screen.

OUTLETS FOR COMPUTERS AND ELECTRICITY: Plenty of electricity outlets.

7) MENGI–ÓÐINSGATA 2, 101 REYKJAVÍK (GOOGLE MAPS)

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Mengi is an artist-run venue, based in the center of Reykjavík. It was opened in December 2013 and has hosted hundreds of art events during the last four years. Mengi is a venue for alternative art and work in progress, be it music, theatre, dance, film, visual arts, poetry.

SIZE IN SQUARE METERS: 70,4.

CEILING HEIGHT: 3,5 / 3,7 / 2,6.

STAGE AREA: 5 m x 6 m (24 m2).

SEATING: 49 people.

FLOOR TYPE: Wood in exhibition space / concrete in store and auditorium.

LIGHT, SOUND, FILM SCREENING FACILITIES: Projector / PAsystem. Stage light needs to be rented or borrowed.

OUTLETS FOR COMPUTERS AND ELECTRICITY: On stage via three boxes in the floor.

OTHER IMPORTANT TECHNICAL INFORMATION:Sound system and mixer. We do not have a sound engineer permanently employed at Mengi. The space is small and the system is selected to be simple enough for people to be able to operate without! assistance. If you require a sound engineer for your event then we will need to book one specifically. We have sound engineers on call who know the space and the system and we would be happy to speak to one of them if requested. The cost of having a sound engineer 4.000 ISK per hour. There is a projector in the space in case you want to use visuals. There is a computer available at Mengi. Microphones: Shure SM58. Samson R21. Behringer B-2 Pro.

8) NORRÆNA HÚSIÐ / NORDIC HOUSE– SÆMUNDARGATA 11, 101 REYKJAVÍK

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The Nordic House in Reykjavík is a cultural institution opened in 1968 and operated by the Nordic Council of Ministers. It is designed by the Finnish modernist architect Alvar Aalto. The Nordic House hosts concerts, movie screenings, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and group meetings all year. Salur is our main hall and is a flexible room with loose chairs (not sitting fixtures), wooden floor and no lighting rig. 4 moving heads installed in the ceiling. Can be used for performances where the audience is around / in the performance and not equally suitable for “regular stage set up”. Stage elements are available.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The Nordic House in Reykjavík is a cultural institution opened in 1968 and operated by the Nordic Council of Ministers. It is designed by the Finnish modernist architect Alvar Aalto. The Nordic House hosts concerts, movie screenings, workshops, exhibitions, conferences and group meetings all year. The Black Box is used as a flexible space for a variety of events: talks, meetings, film-screenings, workshops, exhibitions, site specific theatre and smaller concerts. It is equipped with a stage, lighting & sound system.

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: The Port is an 500 m2 outdoor court which is fitted with temporal roof/tent for events. The space does not come with any technical equipment The lessee takes care of bringing all equipment, including extra lights, sound equipment et cetera.

10) SALURINN CONCERT HALL– HAMRABORG 2, KÓPAVOGUR

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Salurinn Concert Hall is the first custom built concert hall in Iceland, it opened on 2nd of January 1999. Particular emphasis was on making the acoustics as good as possible and Salurinn has been highly praised by performers and guests alike for its exceptional acoustics. The size and shape of the hall, a proscenium stage, sloping floor and comfortable seats make for special intimacy between artists and audience. The audience area is divided between a main hall that seats 183 and a balcony that seats 109. The stage is 9,5 m wide and 4,4 m deep.

STAGE AREA: 9,5 m wide and 4,4 m deep.

SEATING: Seating capacity in total 292.

FLOOR TYPE: Hardwood floor on the stage and concrete floors in the audience.

LIGHT, SOUND, FILM SCREENING FACILITIES: A complete Meyer sound system, a good projector and projector screen (size 520x370cm).

DESCRIPTION OF THE VENUE: Tjarnarbíó is the home of the independent live art scene in Iceland, located by the Reykjavík pond right down town. It is run by the Association of Independent Theatres in Iceland on behalf of Reykjavík City, which partly funds it’s operations, owns the house and the technical equipment. Tjarnarbíó theatre is a 180 seat black box theater. The theatre has extensive lighting and sound equipment plus a 6,5 x 3,5 m cinema screen and a projector.

SEATING: 180 fixed seats (52 retractable seats).
