MEDICINE
A recent review of allergy impact on services highlighted the rapidly increasing prevalence of allergic diseases in Australia. The study also highlighted the shortage of professional immunologists/allergists trained to translate allergic diseases knowledge into practice.
Further, Western Sydney University recognises the vital role skilled professionals play in identification and treatment of allergic diseases in all areas of life. This is reflected in our research and ongoing development of contemporary courses to meet areas of great demand.
WHAT YOU’LL STUDY
The Master of Medicine (Allergic Diseases) equips medical practitioners in clinical practice with advanced theoretical knowledge and clinical expertise in allergic diseases and core epidemiological research methods. You will build on and integrate skills through online and face-to-face learning activities over a three year program. The program will enable you to competently diagnose and manage patients with allergic diseases, and critically appraise new concepts and evidence for clinical and research use. You will also will gain the fundamental epidemiological and statistical concepts and skills required to design and conduct studies and pursue further research training in allergic diseases.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to effectively manage the complex allergic diseases seen in the community, as well as communicate effectively with patients across a range of cultures. These programs also provide professionals with an opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the science and clinical aspect of allergic diseases, enhancing their careers in their chosen fields.
