To enable the extension of the modular approach of the Diversity Workbench on Unix databases and to ensure the interoperability with other GBIF-projects, a middle tier is developed.

The project is organized as a network of small workpackages, some are upcoming, some in progress and others already completed. Each workpackage is strongly focused on the relevance for the umbrella project and based on the models and modular concept of the Diversity Workbench.

The existing Diversity Workbench database modules are going to be extended, and will be established under Microsoft SQL-Server and PostgreSQL.
