    Introduction

    Indonesia is a country known for having many historical sites and artifacts,

    such as stone temples. Indonesian ancient society, which mostly are

    maritime and agricultural society, have known various number of

    constellations as signs of time and direction. It is suspected that some

    historical sites in Indonesia have Astronomical relation in its building, as

    Stonehenge in United Kingdom and Pyramids in gypt are.

    Borobudur Temple

    !orobudur "emple is a buddhist temple that is located in #ava and estimated to

    be built around $%% A&. "he orientation of the temple's west and east door is

    pointing to the direction of vernal e(uino) in times it were built. In addition,

    observation around the temple shows that its main stupa can also be used as

    gnomon during the construction. "he e)istence of these west and east door

    facing*gnomons strongly indicates that the temple was indeed built around the

    estimated time. +rom these gnomons too, we can recalculate that the temple's

    main stupa supposed to be %.-- meters tall. ther stupas, surprisingly, can be

    used to help us locate !orobudur in latitude, which is /.0 in south and the

    position of the Sun when it is on the tropic of 1ancer and 1apricorn, 23.0

    Padang Mountains Megalithic Site

    "wo e)peditions had been conducted in Padang 8ountain's 8egalithic Site, but strong

    evidence to proof the astronomical relation in its construction have not been found yet.

    In these e)peditions some positional, orientational, and dimensional researches had been

    performed. "he night sky survey had also been performed to create simulation of the

    constellations and sketches. It needs more systematic and long*period observations to

    Future Research

    Seeing the fact that there are many temples and historical

    sites located in Indonesia, chances for archeoastronomy to

    develop are undoubtedly high. Probability to gain

    information from this study field too, is still wide opened.

    "herefore, further and thorough periodical research about

    this topic is needed.
