Credit Recovery Co-Enrollment
Apex: After school and during some periods of the school day. Located on campus. See Ms. McGuire in the counseling office or your assigned counselor for details.
El Sereno High School: Independent study. Located in Fair Oaks.
Online Courses: Through fee-based providers like BYU. Must have prior counselor approval.
College Admissions A-G Minimum Subject Requirements are:
(A) 2 years of History / Social Science (B) 4 years of English (C) 3 years of mathematics (through Algebra 2) (D) 2 years of science (must be lab-based science
courses) (E) 2 years of Language other than English (LOTE) (F) 1 year of Visual or Performing Art (VAPA) (G) 1 year of College Prep Elective

COLLEGE ApplicationsApplications
Visit each college website and make a master list of schools and deadlines
CSU Application filing period is October 1 through November 30, 2015
UC Application filing period November 1 through November 30, 2015– Students can begin working on their UC
application now, but cannot file until 11/1/15
Private / Independent and Out-of-State College Applications
Most private / independent colleges use the online Common Application at www.commonapp.org
Many require a personal essay / statement Writing the Personal Statement Workshop will be
held October 28, 4th period, library You must check deadlines and requirements online Letters of recommendation from your teachers,
mentors, coaches and school counselor are usually required
Letter of Recommendation Requests:
CSU and UC do not require a letter of recommendation
Ask politely – Your teachers, coaches, employer, mentor and school counselor
Give them time -- Three to four weeks in advance is an appropriate amount of time
Thank them -- It is very important for them to know that you appreciate the work they have done for you
Letter of Recommendation Worksheet is located on the EC website, under the counseling tab.
California Community Colleges
Apply February-March 2015 for priority admission
Must take English and Math placement exams
To transfer from a program to a CSU/UC, visit www.assist.org
Associate Degrees and Certificate programs
College Representatives at EC
Sacramento State Rep will be on campus to meet with seniors October 12, 2015, 6th period, library
– Future Hornet Day, Saturday October 24, register at www.csus.edu/admissions/future-hornet-day
ARC Rep will be on campus to meet with seniors Oct. 20, 2nd period, library
Other College Reps: Many college reps visit EC throughout the fall. These are announced in the
E-gram and School Bulletin. Students must pre-sign up in the Counseling Office to attend
these visitations

File the FAFSA on January 1, 2016 (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and know the financial aid deadlines for your colleges!
Community Colleges offer Board of Governors (BOG) tuition waiver program
Scholarship information available under the college tab on Naviance
CSS/Profile on the College Board website collects information to award institutional aid funds for private / out-of-state colleges

College Athletics
Students must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center online to be recruited for Division 1 and some Division 2 colleges www.eligibilitycenter.org
NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics): Many division 2 and 3 colleges are members of NAIA
