Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain:

an eight minute journey to the summit of

Sulphur Mountain in a modern, fully-enclosed

four passenger gondola cabin. The views

become increasingly spectacular as you climb

698m (2,292 ft) to an elevation of 2,281m (7,486

ft) at the Summit Upper Terminal – the

departure point for a mountaintop of activities,

such as: the popular Banff Skywalk, wildlife

viewing (Bighorn sheep, Golden mantled

ground squirrels, Hoary marmots, Clark’s

nutcracker and the Canada (Gray) jay, etc.),

hiking trails or simply relax whilst enjoying the

panoramic views

After breakfast travel along the Bow Valley

Scenic Parkway to Johnston Canyon, followed

by a hike to one of the most popular spots in

Banff:

Johnston Canyon Lower Falls - 1.2km one way;

30m elevation gain; 1 hour round trip. Banff

National Park’s most popular hiking destination

takes you into the depths of a canyon along

catwalks and amongst spectacular waterfalls.

See the impressive lower falls and walk through

a tunnel to get an even closer look at the

powerful effects of water.

For longer hike, add Johnston Canyon Upper

Falls - 2.4km one way from parking lot); 120m

elevation gain; 2 hour round trip. On the

complete Johnston Canyon trip you will see

even more waterfalls, the most impressive of

which is the 30m high Upper Falls.

For even longer hike, add Ink Pots - 5.4km one

way (from parking lot), 215m elevation gain; 4

hour round trip. After experiencing the

waterfalls along the Johnston Canyon trail,

continue beyond its Upper Falls to reach a set

of brilliantly coloured pools.

Lunch at leisure. Enjoy BBQ cook-out dinner on

a ranch.

August - Day 2 –

Banff National Park

After breakfast travel to Lake Louise, short stop at the famous lake. Continue along the very scenic

Icefield Parkway, with stops at different look-out points along the way. Lunch at leisure (at Cafeteria of

the Icefield Centre). Afterwards take the Excursion with the Ice Explorer onto the icy slopes of the

Athabasca Glacier, - a tongue of ice 6 kilometres long and one kilometre wide. Travel in a specially

designed Ice Explorer to the middle of the glacier, on a 5 kilometre round trip journey. Your

driver/guide will explain how glaciers are formed and point out interesting geological features as you

travel in safety and comfort. At the mid-point, you will have the option of stepping out onto ice formed

from snow falling as long as 400 years ago. Travel back to Banff and enjoy dinner at Wild Bill’s Saloon.

At leisure for last minute shopping or sightseeing until your transfer to Calgary airport for your flight back

to London.

Scenic Rafting – Hoodoo tour (1hr): Launch

at the base of Bow River Falls, near The

Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course. Travel 7

km down the river between Tunnel

Mountain and Mount Rundle, past the

Hoodoos, amazing landscapes and

excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.

Land near the towering face of Mount

Rundle. This gentle raft float is the perfect

way to intimately encounter this natural

mountain beauty.

White Water Rafting in the Horseshoe Canyon (1.5 – 2 hrs on the river + 1.5

hr driving and preparation time): The Horseshoe Canyon offers

spectacular scenery, big waves and up to Grade IV whitewater.

canyons and awesome whitewater
