The Community Services Branch partners with key
stakeholders and the community to create connected,
healthy, active and safe communities in Logan. The
services of the branch are provided through four teams,
namely:
Community Development
Empowers individuals and groups to create, support,
grow and sustain connected, healthy and inclusive
communities.
Community Safety
Partners with, builds capacity of, and delivers services
and programs to the community to create a safer city.
Social Planning
Puts the ‘people’ into planning through identifying,
understanding and addressing community needs and
aspirations.
Branch Management
Provides overall management to the branch in respect to
the areas of financial direction, customer service,
leadership, culture and service delivery.

REPORTS TO:
Maintenance and Renewals Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE
To provide technical and building advice and administrative support to the Sport, Leisure and Facilities Branch.
EXTENT OF AUTHORITY
Under the general direction of the Maintenance and Renewals Coordinator, the officer provides technical support and
professional advice relating to the development and maintenance of community facilities.

TECHNICAL ADVICE & SUPPORT
Provide technical support, professional advice and estimating relating to the development and maintenance of community
facilities;
Develop and implement a range of processes and procedures associated with maintenance and improvement activities with a
view to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement;
Prioritise and monitor maintenance and facility improvement expenditure within budget constraints;
Assist in the project management of construction works pertaining to the development and/or extension of facilities
Performance Criteria
Uses knowledge & expertise to provide accurate and timely technical support & advice
Fosters relationships with community groups and contractors
Focus on continuous improvement
DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
Prepare documentation for tenders and quotations and administer the process including scope, evaluation, awarding,
supervision, inspections and associated administration related to the development and maintenance of community facilities;
Prepare reports and assist in preparation of detailed submissions as required
Prepare development and other applications to ensure compliance with statutory requirements in relation to facility
development;
Performance Criteria
Timely & accurate preparation of documentation for tenders and quotations
Ensure adherence to relevant building codes, standards, legislation and statutory requirements
Accurate record keeping of data and service records
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Liaise with a range of stakeholders to effectively facilitate maintenance and construction activities;
Coordinate and oversee work carried out by contractors and service providers and undertake appropriate minor maintenance
tasks;

Accurately process information from various sources to provide solutions to maintenance issues

OTHER
Council’s Leadership and Performance Capability Framework will be used for performance management and development
purposes
Undertake any other duties as are reasonably within the limits of the employee's skills, competence and training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Proven experience providing technical support and professional advice, including estimating, to a range of stakeholders with a
focus on creating long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
Formal trade qualifications will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience and ability to administer implementation of contracts for maintenance and minor construction
activities.
Knowledge of current building and construction industry work practices.
Skilled in the development and implementation of building maintenance service programs with the ability to undertake minor
building maintenance tasks.
Competency in use of standard computer packages and the ability to quickly adapt to and learn Council specific packages as
required.

REQUIREMENTS & POSITION SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
Possession of a current Queensland Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence is mandatory.
Participate in an on call roster.
