PORTUGAL ENTREPRENEURIAL MISSION TO EU/UN PROCUREMENT SEMINAR

The EUPF is a non-profit organisation formed by members of the European permanent missions to the UN and the consulates of several EU countries. It is their goal to help European countries to learn how to do business with the various UN organisations.

Each year the EUPF hosts a three day seminar in New York City where European businesses get the opportunity to offer their services and goods to the multiple UN organisations.

The seminar consists of presentations and workshops which deal with the various aspects of doing business with the UN. Every topic is extensively covered. So the seminar is well suited for companies that have no experience with how the UN works.

One of the unique features of this seminar is the one-on-one meetings that are arranged between company representatives and UN staff. Companies get 15/30 minutes to promote their products and services to local and overseas UN representatives. During the event there are also plenty of opportunities to network with UN and other attending companies.

AICEP (Trade & Investment Agency) in New York is a full member of the EUPF, and was involved at all levels regarding decisions and the organisation of the seminar in straight collaboration with the Grupo de Trabalho das Multilaterais (Working Group on Multilateral Agreements). Besides the seminar, companies will have the opportunity to visit the Mission of Portugal to the United Nations, and will meet also with AICEP to learn about the opportunities of the US market.

The Offi ce for Economic Policy and International Affairs (GPEARI) is a government department whose mission is to support the design, the enforcement and the assessment of policies and planning instruments of the Ministry of Finance, taking into account the fi nancial program and all other departments of the Ministry, and ensuring, directly or under its coordination, the international affairs.

• On-line distribution of publications and information about the current main topics of the Portuguese economy, economics statistics, job and procurement opportunities throughout international institutions and a international affairs newsletter;

• Preparation of meetings, committees and working groups of several national and international organizations and fi nancial institutions;

• Financing and coordination of the Technical Assistance Programs for the Portuguese Speaking African Countries;

• Promotion of initiatives aimed at boosting the internationalization of the Portuguese economy;

• Technical support on the implementation of the departments performance evaluation system by all the departments of the Ministry of Finance;

• Coordination of the implementation of the gender equality policy in the Ministry of Finance.
