Kim Stanley: intuitively creative, people oriented, results focused. Kim is an experienced multi-disciplinary Interior Designer who designs commercial and residential proj-ects across Canada. After graduating from Dublin Institute of Technology in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior and Furniture Design, Kim immigrated to Canada and worked in commercial design in Ottawa for three years. Her adventurous spirit brought her to Vancouver in 2015 to broaden her experience working in high-end residential design. She is accredited as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate. Consistently striving to learn new skills and keep her existing skills up to date, she seeks out training whenever available. Kim has a diverse portfolio of project types across numerous industry sectors including retail, residential, commercial, exhibition, recreation and leisure. She excels at translating briefs and develops creative design concepts with refined attention to detail. She is adept at bringing a project from concept to completion with her skills in research, construction drawing, detailing, material sourcing, pricing, management of trades and site supervision. Kim can work with any size budget and fosters strong relationships throughout the design and build process. Kim’s aptitude for collaboration combined with her strong technical background have allowed her to shine as part of a team and as a mentor, currently leading a team of designers on a daily basis. In all she does, Kim’s greatest strengths are her abilities to focus on the details while maintaining a sense of cohesion, proficiently executing projects on time and on budget. Kim is as committed to her hobbies as she is her profession, creating a sense of balance within her life. She enjoys photography, furniture upcycling and exploring coastal British Columbia.

Fusion Condominiums: Lobby, Ottawa, Ontario. The LEED Silver certification for this project was achieved through coordinating with a LEED Consultant, choosing wood reclaimed from the Ottawa River and floor tiles with 20% recycled content. While meeting the LEED requirements, Kim and the design team effectively created cohesion with complementary natural finishes focusing on texture. Kim successfully incorpo-rated a two-story living-moss wall, researching the product and educating the client about its air detoxifying benefits. Throughout the project, while planning with the Project Manager and suppliers, Kim not only choose natural and green finishes, but created a full package of construction drawings that allowed for the project to be tendered competitively and allowed for ease of construction.

Icon Sales Centre: Condominium sales centre, Ottawa, Ontario. This unique project involved creating the temporary architecture of the sales centre from three modular sections creating a reusable unit with the most effective footprint and best geo-graphical orientation relative to a busy intersection in the Little Italy neighborhood of Ottawa. The result was successfully creating cohesion between marketing goals, project brand and structure design that facilitated meeting the sales targets for the new high-rise condominium development. In addition to extensive research and concept drawing, Kim facilitated com-munication between trades, the City of Ottawa, graphic designers and the condominium’s marketing firm in order to produce a fluid process that contributed to the project’s success.

TriBeCa West Condominiums: Lobby, Ottawa, Ontario. This project resulted in selling out all condominium units in the development by attracting attention of the target market having created an open space that is accessible and visible from the sidewalk with floor to ceiling architectural glass. The success of design hinged on meticulously selecting high gloss paint and millwork, linear lighting, semi-opaque glass and designer lighting that is modern yet timeless. The design expanded the developer’s portfolio, adding a modern, trendy design to a more traditional portfolio. While exercising her technical skills, Kim also allowed her natural people skills to shine, from collaborating with the architect to maintaining a focus on the target market.

TriBeCa East Condominiums: Lobby , Ottawa, Ontario. Having created a successful first phase of this project (TriBeca West), Kim successfully visual-ized the end result of this lobby design with a uniform yet distinct aesthetic, different from the first phase. Creating efficiency and reducing design time, Kim and her team integrated and streamlined the initial process. A contemporary and airy space was curated with long, horizontal lines, a towering engineered glass feature and clever use of bright materials that extend to the ceiling, accentuating the height in the space. To realize these details, Kim created detailed millwork drawings (plans, elevations and sections with particular attention to removable panels) and glass drawings.

Beauty & Sussex: Hair and beauty salon, Ottawa, Ontario. With a strong sense of the business goals combined with an intuitive understanding of clientele needs, Kim designed this inviting, clean, bright salon to allow for relaxation as well as capacity for attention-grabbing product display. While independently designing the pedicure room to be private and inviting, including details such as ergonomic custom millwork, Kim focused on a client-centered experience. In order to meet the move-in deadline, Kim prioritized tasks and facilitated quick decision-making. Securing building permits and working with a code reviewer and the City of Ottawa, Kim applied her strong understanding of building code requirements.

Thi Fusion: Restaurant, Ottawa, Ontario. The design of this restaurant created a multi-functional space that transformed from dining to DJ easily, by designing custom furniture that could be easily moved and stored. Cooperating with the senior designer, Kim translated the brief into technical drawings and carefully made finish selections. With attention to detail but also a sense for future use of the space, Kim assisted in creating custom exterior lighting and also designed the patio structure for a future phase of the project.

Tribeca Condominium: Model suite, Ottawa, Ontario. This project received the 2014 SAMMY Award for Best Condominium Model awarded by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders Association due to its on-trend style and appropriate design for the target audience in downtown Ottawa. Successfully creating a model two-bedroom condominium suite that resulted in selling out all condos in the development, Kim coordinat-ed the finish and furniture selections on budget, balancing between standard builder fixtures and high-end selections with the aim to represent the range of options for each unit. In order to meet a tight deadline, Kim worked efficiently to create the interior design drawing package, choose and price specifications and coordinate the furniture suppliers. She was involved right down to the last detail of staging the unit with accessories for the launch day.
