Arounded YongAnli community are nearly all skyscrapers such as LG, Xinhua insurance mansion and Baosteel group mansion, compared to this buildings, the architecture in that community may lag behind.
Currently, there is debate considering economy development and urban regulation concerns, the government wants to demolish the structures to leave way for another group of office buildings. However, this community is a signature of the era and has its cultural and historical significance. The name of this community 'YongAnli ' which got its name in 1950s has it special meaning: wi l l ing to l ive savely forever. So, I redesign it based on the very existing condition to avoid a wildly volatile, maintaining the existing culture while creating a new identity for YongAnli community.

Part IIFlower Border
Design ProcessPlane design
The combination of drifts in flower border is put forward by British gardener Gertrude Jekyll. Looking from the plane, crumbs in the flower border, contrasting the main viewpoints, are made into an angle of 45 degrees. A group of drift in the flower border create a sense of flow. This combination pattern has its biggest advantage that it highlight the beautiful drifts in front while hide the faded ones behind. This pattern also brings color combination in part of the plant groups and color extension in other part of plant since during the entire seasons, flowers show pictures of bloom and fade.Gertrude Jekyll also claim that the length and width of drifts can be unequal, as a guiding pinciple, it could follow the ratio of 3:1, which means three times the length to width.
Color design
Quota: 'before entering a gray or blue garden, it will make the best effet if there arrange a orange or yellow flower border, because the extense color in border make our eyes desperate to find a garden of its contrasting color...' --- Gertrude Jekyll. 1908
'when match the contrasting color, usually 2/3 volume of one color with 1/3 volume of its contrasting color achieve a better effect'
--- Tracy Disabato-Aust. 2003
South border
To the south side, 3 residential buildings with 10 entrances adjoin the south border, the curve path surrounded around the border I designed connecting the 10 entances together tend to refresh and relieve dwellings by the contrasting color flower distribution.
To the north side, a playground adjoins the north border, I use a gradual color variety to capture the idea of 'dynamic' in respondent with those running students on the rubber track at the playground.
North border
Master Plan
'gradually arrange the color according to the order in the color wheel, showing liquidity, creating a orderly color gradient flower border'
--- Gertrude Jekyll.

Autumn flowers distribution
Arrange early summer flowers in front of spring flowers, and keep the former low after high. Overlap a little between early spring flowers and early summer flowers while overlap more beween late spring flowers and early summer flower in order to flourish continuously.
Arrange mid & late summer flowers from the short to medium height in front of spring flowers, hiding the withered flowers behind.
Overlap a l i t t le between autumn f lowers and late summer flowers. Add some of annuals and biennials, and ornamental grasses to make up for the inadequacy of the autumn flowers.
Process sketches
After my survey and initial analysis for this quasi-road, I find the three principles above are most suitable for it, then, based on the existing condition, I further develop my concept and get the final design. The site survey back and forth help me find out the most scientific and resonable design and I don't have to sink my time into the idea that doesn't work.

Addmitteddly, this restoration may not be the necessities for visitors visit this community or for people to choose to work hearby, but, it leave them a favorable 'experience' that enhance their satisfaction.
With this three parts, Generation Garden, Flower Border and Green Roof, it will promote the city's micro climate, and increase the number of biological species, in a few years, this community will become a sustainable community.

URBAN CORRIDOR.JiaRun International Community.
The land is located in the northwest fourth ring road, near the Cloud Bridge. In the north, it is Ba river, in the south, it is fourth ring road. To the east, it is the planned Jia Run yuan street east. This land is filled with artistic breath since the dwellings there more or less correlated with art.
Based on the background that throughout the corridors, besides the Ba river side, the other side is connected with Jia Run yuan street east and there locate a cluster of art buildings such as galleries, art studios, art centres and design companies. Therefore, I tend to let that kind of artistic breath spread to this community and edify sentiment for the dwellings.
I instill 3 kinds of geometries, triangular, circular and rectancular into the 3 urban corridors respectively, whoever promenade along the corridors would refresh the art atmosphere.

Background of climateShenyang locate in the northeast of China, the climate belongs to the warm temperate zone with Sub-humid moisture conditions, so the trees face south get for greatest warmth.Continental climate is significantly, for the temperate monsoon climate, so the outline tree windbreaks maybe necessary to lessen the intensity of blustery. The annual average temperature of 8.4 degrees Celsius. Affected by the monsoon, precipitation is mainly, temperature difference is bigger, with four distinct seasons which could be a prerequisite for enjoying the variety of trees growing and changing.
The winter is divided into five months, the soil begins to freeze during the early november and the end of November with an average temperature -5 degrees Celsius. Preparations for ploughing and sowing begin busy in late February. In spring, soil gradually thawed in late march and vegetables begin seedling and planting. In the begining of may, the awaken of spring is abundant with an average temperate more than 10 degrees Celsius. In the summer, average temperature rises to more than 20 degrees Celsius, and the crops grow lushly. High temperature and high humidity happens from July to August prone to flooding. In the autumn, the average temperature drop to 20 degrees Celsius, and it is the midest time to harvest.
Overall, these climate conditions are important reference for the implementation of following platation and plant choice would have to be tested for such a specific environmental condition. Best selection would be either native, edible, or near-native condition tolerant.

Plants Scattergram
As a landscape architect, merely identify and understand plants is not enough, we are also engaged to create engaging designs with them.
This distribution greets the visitor with a mixture of fruit-producing and native plants.
36
The focus in this plant distribution is to emphasize the beauty, cohensiveness and potential of native plants, which are more appropriate for local climate than similar looking foreign plants. Native plants efficiently repond to the local climate and seasonal variation in rain. This distribution also reflects movement within the university and encourage visitors to view the school through a "new lens".
37
Trees & shrubs
Most plants above are selected from native plants in Shenyang, through a long evolution process, they own the strong ability to adapt. Also, each spiecis has it very features and usage, along the road connecting with the entrance, two rows of neat white birch may add a few minutes of grace for school.Meanwhile, the color, shape, and materials vary with the change of seasons, and all of that mark the university making it unmatched.
Fruit tree
This five varieties are scientific research fruit trees in Shenyang Agriculture University, the famous Malus pumila Mill is the new hybrid with Dongguang which has strong cold resisitance but poor quality as the female parent and Fuji which has very good quality but poor cood resistance as the male parent. So, not only could these trees bare fruits for us harvest, we can also do research on them with classmates and professors.
38
Fruit Square
Fruit Square provide a respite from the busy flow towards classroom. The mature fruit hanging on trees is also meant to get students to look upwards to get it and unconsiciously straighten out their backs after their long days hunching over their desks.

Self-sufficiency farmShenyang Agriculture University covers an area of nearly 500 mu of teaching and scientific research and experimental base.In the vegetable base, it has built-in facilities vegetable greenhouse, vegetable genetics and breeding base, edible fungus base and with all kinds of greenhouse facilities more than 20000 square meters, field operation room approximatVely 1300 square meters.
I tend to let a little part of this base walk into student activity area, by that time, the base would not only serve as a scientific research and experimental space, it will also be used for sudents to plant vegetables personally.
During harvest season individuals in student union, communities, and classes will be organized to collect and share their harvested crops in the farm, which provide a community zone allowing interaction between them, they would gather and share as a team, a family.
The growth of plants allow the space to change over time, whoever passing by would enjoy the gradual transformation of plants from seeds into giants.

Right after the harvesting period, student union could set up a fair and organize events, activities and marcketing of harvested products. This may allow students to network, get to know each other and sale as a team, also during the process might they comprehend the marketing strategies.

Basketball Field Retrofitting
Dongdan Beijing2013.12
I am keen on playing basketball and enjoying NBA games, nearly more than anything else
Dongdan basketball fields is the place to greet NBA stars ,to welcome sports fans, I have been there several times, whenever I approach there, I owe a burning desire to retrofit it
Objectives:
1. To greet stars with a refresh face
2. To establish a landmark for basketball activity and further enhance the sport spirit
3. Let the whole cit izens to participate in the physical fitness
Historical reviewIn order to celebrate basketball coming into China for 100 years, the Dongdan basketball field is established by Chinese Basketball Association, Beijing Basketball Association and NIKE in Octorber 1995.
The Chinese basketball association deputy secretary-general Liu Yumin claim 'in the crowded city, an increasing number of commodity buildings and residential buildings leave no space for the public activity place. This field tend to provide residents a reachable activity center, let people experience the basketball charm besides sports and leisure'

Though more citizens come to take part in sport exercise, on the other hand, the area of sport fields is limited especially compared to the other metropolis in the world.
In America, 180 millions people spend their spare time in physical exercise frequently. The main 3 sports-baseball, football, basketball-attract large number of fans every year. Sports event in developed country have become an indispensable part of daily life and inject great vitality for the whole social economic and cultural life.
In the early mid 1990s, a famous american sociologist state 'before learning about the American, you must understand the competitive sports. Without competitive sprots, TV programs will be cut by a third and the cars in the street will become one fifth less, as thus, auto industry, petroleum industry and steel manufacture on which the economy support will shrink.
