Brochure
This is a double-sided, offset-style brochure to advertise forPizzeria Biancos restaurant.Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign
12.6.2014
Communications 130
Emily Kunz
To advertise the message that Pizzeria Biancos offers fresh, authentic, unique, and delicious artisan pizza.First, I created the logo in Adobe Illustrator. I traced animage of a pizza pan using the pen tool. Next, I found 4
images on the website for Pizzeria Bianco and through asearch of google images. Then I got a few pieces of paperand did some paper mock-ups. I sketched out potentiallayouts and practiced folding them in duplex, trifold, andoffset. I then went to Adobe InDesign to create my rst
brochure draft. For my clipped image I used a photo ofBianco making pizza and wrapped the text about himaround his image. I did this in Photoshop using the quickselection tool and Rene Edge. I tried to create unity by
repeating the brick on the inside of the brochure along thetop border. I also repeated the logo shape of the pizza pan,but in a different color. I aligned everything using theruler guides.

Great pizza, like anything else, is all about balance. Its that
simple.

Artisan
Pizza
About the Chef
Originally from New York, Chris Bianco beganworking at a local pizzeria at age 13. He moved
to Phoenix on a whim and started Pizzeria
Bianco inside the back corner of a
neighborhood grocery storein 1988. Biancos pizza was
popular and he realized
he could make pizza
for a living. In 1996, the
restaurant moved tohistoric Heritage
Square. Chris has
won the James
Beard Awardfor Best Chef:
Southwest in
2003, helped
spawn ageneration of
independent and
artisanal pizzerias,
and given hisadvice, wisdom and
food philosophies
to dozens of
fellow chefs andrestaurateurs.
About the Food
Pizzeria Biancos uses a real wood-burning
stove. Mozzarella is made fresh each
morning. In fact, Bianco makes nearly every
pizza himself. The dough is made by hand
and allowed to ferment for 18 hours. Theherbs are from a garden right next to the
restaurant and the vegetables are from a
local farmers market.
About the Reviews
The New York Times call the pizza perhaps
the best in America (The Road to Pizza
Nirvana goes through Phoenix, NYT,
July 2004).
Rachael Ray declared Pizzeria
Bianco the winner of her Pizza
Madness Bracket, a contest ofpizzerias across the nation in 2010.
Food & Wine has labeled Chris pizza asarguably the best pizza in America (June2005, June 2009).
Zagat named Chris as one of the 6 chefs
who changed pizza.

To create a website that appeals to sophisticated adult readerswho love stories.I wrote my html code in Text Wrangler. I then created a linkfrom my html document to my CSS document. I chose colors
my opening my logo in Photoshop and using the Color Pickerto get the hexadecimal number for my red color. I did the samefor my black color. I copied and pasted those hexadecimalnumbers into my CSS le. In CSS, I changed my fonts as welland included back-up fonts. I also centered the logo image and
decreased the line width of my text to help readability. I addedpadding around the logo so there would be white spacebetween the top of the logo and the red header.

Emily Kunz
To advertise for a leadership conference targeted at collegeseniors interested in business and marketable job skills.I created the ier using Adobe InDesign. I used the shape toolto make the boxes. I used ruler guides to align everything. I
used a photograph that would ll the extra white space andpoint into the design. I aligned the elbow of the man in thephoto to the text that says, Conference is available to gradu-ating seniors, which highlights the target audience. I repeatedelements with the 3 boxes (2 black and 1 grey). I used visual
hierarchy in a clockwise ow with the title rst, then down to thephoto, then Date-Time-Place, then logo, and nally up to thebody copy. It is an asymmetrical design. I used larger font sizeand black and white colors to contrast the title and the
Date-Time-Place.

To showcase my photo editing skills.
First I found two photos I liked from the web. I downloaded them andopened them in Adobe Photoshop. I sized the photo of the candle
and then opened the photo of Christ. I used the lasso tool at 100pxfeather to select Him, then cut it and moved it to the candle photo. Then I made a mask and used the brush tool at 30% opacity to blendthe photo of Christ into the black background of the candle photo. Ithen added my text with the Type tool and used the eyedropper to
match the golden yellow of the candle. I nished by positioning mytext around the candle.
