Eric GillEric Gill was British sculptor, typeface designer, stonecutter, and printmaker who lived from 1882-1940. His great influence was fellow typographer Edward Johnston, who created the London Underground typeface. Gill was requested to create a new typeface by Stanley Mori-son who was a typographical advisor for a company called Monotype.
