  • Statement of the Purpose of the Portfolio

In this portfolio, I give an overview of my teaching, how it is developing over time, and

the style that I have developed. As an educator, I work to both teach my students the basic

competencies required of each course and to foster their ability to understand the different

aspects of computer and how they will deal with the problems that they will encounter. I hope

that my students leave the course not only with the basic skills needed for continued success,

but the ability to think through and analyze problems in order to solve them.

In my teaching philosophy, I describe the way I teach my classes and the reasons that I

do so. In this portfolio, I also include significant evidence of my teaching. Some of this evidence

can be found through looking at the professional development activities as well as how those

activities have affected my teaching. Also, there is information about each course that I have

taught to provide a context for my readers. I also share several artifacts from classes I have

taught, including class activities, assessments, and feedback from faculty and students. Finally,

I reflect on what I have learned through making the portfolio and my goals for the future.

  • Prayer of Pre-Service Teacher

Dear God, Almighty, the best teacher ever,

    I love you.

Thank you very much for this wonderful opportunity to fulfill what I believe is my purpose in

life; to reach out to the youth, lead them to the threshold of learning, to touch lives and be an

instrument for the development of others.

Thank you for everything that opening my eyes to see the wonders of this profession; it is

    indeed, noble.

Thank you very much for you has provided me strength and wisdom during the most trying

    times.

Thank you for the hard times for they led me to recognize my strength, taught me the

importance of knowing myself, my learners and the parents, teachers, administrators and the

rest of the stakeholders that I have come to respect more.

I humbly ask for your continuous blessing, that I may have more to share with the learners, and

for your continuous guidance, that I may be able to guide the learners to the right path in

    return.

    In Jesus name, Amen.

  • Teachers Creed

As a teacher I will prepare students to take the next step in their education.

As a teacher I want students to feel confident after leaving my classroom.

I want to impact the lives of my students and portray qualities of a role model.

As a teacher I want to motivate students to grow in knowledge and to intrigue students with

    the mystery of history.

I will encourage students to pursue their goals and dreams and create effective relationships

    with parents.

To respect one another equally inside and outside of school.

I want my students to form their own opinion about history.

As a teacher I believe every student should have the opportunity to succeed.

  • Personal Education Philosophy

This journey of identifying my personal education philosophy has taught me what we as

educators have to focus on, we have to concentrate on what unites us in our career choice, we

have to always remember that we are providing KNOWLEDGE, and the students is our number

1 priority. We have to capitalize on all of our individual resources to improve on methods,

conduct, and community relationships. We have to continuously reflect on why we chose to

teach and more importantly, why we continue to stay.

A teacher should believe in the intended processes and activities to produce desirable

changes in the behavior of students. We must believe in the capacity to effect these changes,

promote and facilitate these changes through the mastery of the subject matter and the use of

appropriate methods and techniques of teaching.

A teacher also functions as manipulator of teaching learning situations. As a

manipulator, she believes in ability to create a series of operations directed to change specific

behavior. These are just the parts of a teachers educational philosophy.

  • Personal Insights on the Pre-Service Training

    Experience

My first experience as a teacher was a very challenging and exciting. When I wore my

formal clothes and came out of my room, I saw my parents they were very proud to see me

going to school as a student teacher. This made me very proud of myself as I have almost

completed their dreams. I went to Amparo High School. I was very excited as I was going to the

school where I spent four years as a student and now as a student-teacher.

Upon reaching the school I went straight to the school principal. She was very happy to

see me, a former student as a practice teacher in the school. He then directed me to the school

practicum coordinator Mrs. Cynthia Arellano the TLE Department of the school. He asked me

to stay around as we wait for the rest of the teachers and then the staff meeting will be held. In

the staff meeting the administrators welcome the new teaches and highlighted the teachers

with the school rules and regulation. I was allocated associate teachers. I also learnt that

teachers have to prepare a lot before they teach a class.

As the days progressed I was feeling more comfortable with both teachers and

students. An exposure was given to me to supervise the teachers class who was absent. I was

able to see some of the behavior of the students towards teachers and felt respected. My

associate teachers also gave me some of their classes to teach. I felt very nervous at first but

then I controlled it and moved on teaching. My associate teacher helped me explain the

students some of the concepts which I was not very clear on.

Moreover, I sometimes faced difficulties in supervising the classes as it was hard to

explain student on concepts which are apart from my discipline. I also was also reluctant to talk

to all the teachers as they were new to me. As days passed by I became more confident and

was able to interact well with them.

To conclude my essay I can say that module one had a lot of experience for me as a

practice teacher. I have learnt a lot of things about the school and the amount of work the

  • teachers need to do in order to carry out a successful class. I also learnt that teachers need to

ensure that student learn the concepts taught in class i.e. the objectives are to be achieved.

Directions: Study the given pictures. Name the pictures below and try to connect it to

form the topic for the day.

Troubleshoot it is the process of solving a problem or determining a problem to an issue in

    hardware-related.

    Black

Screen - the working area on the monitor of a computer.

Monitor - refers to the entire box, whereas display screen.

    B. Knowledge

Discussion and explanations of the PC Troubleshooting: Black/Blank Monitor Screen.

Giving the possible causes and solutions on how to troubleshoot a black screen monitor screen.

  • PC Troubleshooting: Black/Blank Monitor Screen.

    Possible Causes Possible Solution

    No power to monitor

If no lights appear on the front of the monitor at all, it is not getting any power from the power source. Check to see if ALL plugs are secure.

Check the power cord from the computer to

    the power strip.

Check the power strip to the wall socket.

Monitor not connected to system unit

Check the data cable Make sure that you are connecting the monitor VGA cable to the back of the computer in the 15-pin connector as shown to the right or older computer 9-pin connection.

    Hardware problem

Random Access Memory (RAM) Check the RAM To remove connects to the motherboard of a computer system and generates output images to display a RAM module you will need to press the tiny levers on each end to release it. When replacing a module, make sure the indention on the bottom is lined up correctly with the slot and then press it in until you hear the levers snap. Note that some levers do not make a snap sound.

Video Card Adapter Remove the video card and replace it. This problem can be solved by changing the video card, or using an onboard video. The video card may also be replaced.

Motherboard If just one of the many pins on the module fail to connect in the motherboard slot, the computer will not start. You will not hear the usual beep, nor will any text appear on the screen when you try to boot. The computer will be lifeless when you turn it on except perhaps for the case and CPU fans.

Take the power cord out the back of your computer and open the case. Try taking out the memory modules and the putting them back (with a bit of a shove). This is called reseating. Sometimes you have to repeat the process a few times. The bad electrical contact occurs as a result of a gap opening up, or a bit of corrosion or dust getting between the electrical contacts. Reseating works in very many cases.

    C. Process

    Activity: Arrange Me

Directions: Each group will analyze the statement that was given and they will arrange the

jumbled letters to form a word that refers to the statement.

  • PWROE (Plugs) One of the factors that should be checked first if it is getting a source.

ALEBCS (Cables) - It should be checked if it is connect in the monitor to the system unit.

BRDOATHMOER (Motherboard) - If just one of the many pins on the module fail to connect to this,

    the computer will not start.

DEOCAVIRD (Video card) - connects to the motherboard of a computer system and generates

    output images to display.

    D. Understanding. Let the students make a diagram of the causes and solutions of black screen problem in computer. They will put the missing pieces to complete the diagram.

    E. Product/Performance Return Demonstration The students will work in group. They will go in each working station and troubleshoot each causes

of blank screen monitor. The students will be given enough time to finish the troubleshooting. The students will be graded according to the rubrics.
