GAbout me

I have completed my studies at the Depar tment of P lann ing and Reg iona l Development, University of Thessaly, School of Engineering and I am currently writing my diploma thesis. The department has provided me with opportunities to work with the increasing spatial problems that face Greece and has imparted to me a spatial and urban awareness, affecting my everyday life and work.

Confronting spatial problems in Greece has been particularly interesting, as the peculiar complexity of the planning laws and data require a delicate, careful and thoughtful management.

Though the department is not design-oriented, I’ve always been interested in the proper representation and appearance of my work, even in projects that did not required it.

During 2011 I participated at the Erasmus program in the university of Complutense in Madrid, Spain, where I was involved primarily with analog photography and video.

I am personally interested in everything that has a spatial aspect thus I am deeply interested in photography, video, travel, and languages.

During the second stage of the studio a brownfield area of an unused army camp was reshaped including multiple uses and based on the idea of urban farming.

The area of interest of this studio was the main urban area of the city of Volos. During the first stage of the studio a detailed inventory of the study area was made, identifying the underlying area, boundaries and functional neighborhoods.

This study entitled "Revision-Extension of the General Urban Plan of Volos" is prepared under existing laws and regards the commitments and identifications of the overlying tiers of spatial planning and direction of development programs. It follows the standard syntax studies and its performed in two stages. The first stage involves analyzing the existing situation, diagnose the problems, prospects and trends of the municipality and the wording of the Preliminary Proposal. The second is a detailed treatment of the scenario proposed according to the first stage.

During this studio, we investigated the eastern part of mountain Pelion. we investigated the area, collecting, analyzing and evaluating the current state of the area.

Based on the synthetic vision of the cultural and natural reserve and its future prospects, a proposal is formed in order to achieve the sustainable growth of the area.

During this studio, we investigated the region of Lake Karla and the near settlements.

The main aspects were the planning and modulation of the nearest settlements based on the needs of the conduction of the Mediterranean Games and the addressing of the spatial impacts of the reconstitution of the lake’s reservoir.

This study describes the current state of the Epirus region and consists of an extensive analysis of the main economic, environmental and cultural characteristics. A SWOT Analysis is conducted and in accordance with the foregoing scenarios spatial and non spatial scenarios are presented.

Η ολοκλήρωση της Εγνατίας οδού και ο προγραµµατισµός δηµιουργίας της Ιόνιας οδού

αποτελούν τα πιο σηµαντικά αναπτυξιακά στοιχεία για την περιφέρεια, καθώς την

συνδέουν πρακτικά µε ολόκληρη την Ελλάδα, µειώνοντας εξαιρετικά τις αποστάσεις.

∆εύτερο αναπτυξιακό στοιχείο είναι το λιµάνι της Ηγουµενίτσας, το οποίο συνδέει την

περιφέρεια µε την δυτική Ευρώπη.

Ακόµα δύο στοιχεία µπορούν να θεωρηθούν σηµαντικοί αναπτυξιακοί πόροι, πρώτα το

πανεπιστήµιο Ιωαννίνων και δεύτερος οι σηµειακές τουριστικές δραστηριότητες.

Στον νοµό Ιωαννίνων, όπως φαίνεται και στο διάγραµµα τα Ιωάννινα αποτελούν τον

πιο σηµαντικό πόλο έλξης για όλη την περιφέρεια. Θα µπορούσαµε να πούµε ότι είναι

το πιο ολοκληρωµένο αστικό κέντρο στον νοµό.

Αρχικά σηµαντικό στοιχείο του νοµού είναι οι υποδοµές εκπαίδευσης που διαθέτει, από

την πρωτοβάθµια, µε 111 νηπιαγωγεία και 149 δηµοτικά, την δευτεροβάθµια, µε 45

Η διάκριση από το προηγούµενο σενάριο είναι η έµφαση που δίνεται εκατέρωθεν και

κατά µήκος των αξόνων ανάπτυξης. Ο στόχος είναι η ενίσχυση των περιοχών που

παρεµβάλλονται ανάµεσα στους ήδη διαµορφωµένους πόλους ανάπτυξης.

Στην ουσία συνδυάζεται το γραµµικό πρότυπο µε τη διαδικασία διάχυσης της

δυναµικής ανάπτυξης όπου ακτινωτά από τον πόλο, καλύπτοντας ολόκληρη την

Σύµφωνα µε αυτό το σενάριο η περιφέρεια Ηπείρου χωρίζεται σε συγκεκριµένους

άξονες που σχηµατίζουν 1 κύκλο µε 2 κάθετες διαµέτρους και κέντρο τα Ιωάννινα (βλ.

χάρτη). Βασικοί στόχοι αυτού του σεναρίου είναι η ενίσχυση της παραγωγής (γεωργία,

κτηνοτροφία, ήπιες µορφές τουρισµού, µεταποιητικές δραστηριότητες κλπ), οι µορφές

της οποίας αναπτύσσονται µεµονωµένα ή συνδυαστικά κατά µήκος των αξόνων και

στους κόµβους. Παράλληλα προβλέπεται και η ενίσχυση των διασυνδέσεων µε τις

όµορες περιφέρειες και τα γειτονικά κράτη στα πλαίσια της άρσης της αποµόνωσης της

This business plan refers to the creation of the “LoKal Story” cafe - a restaurant to be sited on the beach of the city Kastoria.

The company is offering culinary services and secondarily the sale of local products of high standards. The innovative feature of the company is the personal information of customers, both in layout and in the preparation phase of meals. Also helps to strengthen the local distribution networks locally initially with a view of national development.

Marketing Plan - city of Volos

The marketing plan of the city of Volos, was conducted in order to develop a multi-faceted character based on strong cultural traces. The alternative approach of the city and the urban landscape in order to promote a local economic, social and cultural development.

Important elements are the participation of the university, the conduction and support of festivals and events as well as the use of existing infrastructure.

My diploma dissertation entitled “Urban Sprawl & Cellular Automata” examines the phenomenon of urban sprawl and the use of Cellular Automata as a method of its calculation.

The phenomenon of urban sprawl refers to the spread of urban regions and to the change of land use from mainly rural to mainly urban due to the influence of the market in suburban areas.

The extended Municipality of Patras is an interesting case for consideration as it contains the third largest city of Greece, Patras, involving thus an increasing pressure of urbanization to the outer non-urban areas.

Various calculation models of urban sprawl exist and each varies depending on the characteristics of the theoretical and technical level. Cellular Automata is a computational method able to simulate the evolutionary processes describing a complex system with a set of simple rules.

The aim is to examine the SLEUTH model in terms of adaptability, of the "reaction" on the basis of different initial inputs and of the role it can play in the participation of spatial planning.

My interest for photography began early on, and I think its a really important way of capturing and representing aspects of life.

I always try to identify a pattern or a certain structure in my subjects which will lead me to the final shot

My personal work flows between the micro and macro scale, as i find it interesting to capture the detailed texture of materials as well as the complex structure of buildings.

Getting lost in urban landscapes fascinates me and gives me the opportunity to find perfect sites to capture with my camera
