The project develops a complete urban mana-gement system, based on a profound integra-tion with user’s design&work labour. The pro-posal is located in Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat, India.

The project is structured into 2 groups:

INFRASTRUCTURES: Variety of buildings that give physical form to the new neighbour-hood, infrastructure is defined as the “set of elements necessary to create and operate a certain organization”.

GUILDS: Technology that supports and pro-duces infrastructures. Technology is regarded as a complete social structure.

The project aims to recover and activate the original railway town of Las Matas in Madrid.

In order to reach that goal, a new educational and cultural program is chosen and organi-sed into the site: a small scale agro-alimentary vocational training campus.

The existing buildings from the original town are here gradually occupied as part of the new program. The rithm and logics in which these pre-existences are located are taken to order the new construction and its access.

The modular constructive system is a metalic star-shaped frame redesigned from an origi-nal Jean Prouvé to accomodate different deck dimensions.

The DesignBuild Studio of Mexico implied a radical shift in my understanding of architec-ture.

It was structured in 3 blocks:

DESIGN: a small cooperative of coffe-grower women (UMCAMIX) needed an extension. It is located in Guadalupe Miramar, a remote villa-ge on top of the Sierra Mixteca, Oaxaca. A de-tailed project was developed for the next step.

CONSTRUCTION: 7 weeks working with our own hands in order to build up the project we had previously designed, in cooperation with local population.

DOCUMENTATION: back in Berlin, design and publication of a book about the project.

An alternative design for the Caixa Forum Madrid was requested.

The designed building closes itself to the su-rroundings, creating a large inner courtyard, a high and covered void opened to the perime-ter exhibition halls, recalling the typical corra-las from Madrid.

The main entrance counters this effect by showing itself to the Paseo del Prado with a wide protruding window, allowing the vistas to the Botanic Garden.

The exercise requested to select an Europan 7 competition for its development.

A thoughtful study of the dichotomies Poio-rural-elder VS Pontevedra-urban-youth, was necessary in order to understand Poio. Places that, because of their inbetween quality, tend to lose their identity.

3 slim residential towers settle on a complex topography, solved by means of different productive and water-treatment sytems.

The extension for the Joanneum Museum was already on the detailed project stage

when I entered the studio.

The new spaces are located under the mu-seum public square, which are illuminated and given access to by a set of round glazed

perforations.

My contribution was to complete the other half of the model shown in the left, as well as making a 3d model of each of the crystal co-nes, extracting their final form and divisions

for construction.

On the occasion of the Week of Architecture, the Museum of the Spanish National Library decided to organize a workshop to introduce architecture to children.

The job was divided into two parts, one shor-ter and theoretical, and a longer practical workshop afterwards. In addition, a booklet was to be published and handed to the young participants.

The first part presented some architectu-ral concepts, such as the scale and drawing plans, as well as showing animal architecture, key concepts of sustainability...

The workshop itself consisted, with the help of some previously designed stencils, in the creation of an ideal city growing gradually during the week.

ACetsam (Cooperation Area of the Architectu-re School of Madrid) was born from and for the students, under the premises that there was an urgent need to construct an alterna-tive educational path in opposition to formal academical curriculum.

Truly convinced of this gap in the established educational plan, ACetsam consolidates itself in the Architecture School by organising pe-riodical constructive workshops. These are always accompained by other complemen-tary activities, such as exhibitions, conferen-ces, debates, contests, installations, research workshops...

march 2010 - WORKSHOP FOR HAITI first ACetsam activity

ACetsam was launched a few months after the Haiti earthquake, and a few before the begin of the monsoon season.

We decide to organise a workshop to quickly build and set shelter kits, a modular system mounted with donated billboard canvas, and send them abroad.

DMH (World Habitat Day) 2010 3 WORKSHOPS with Basurama

3 different workshops were held during the World Habitat Day. The first one was held by Basurama (a colective that researches on the reuse of urban waste). The other two dealt with different low-cost constructive systems: Domocaña + Ferrocemento and Quincha + Beno.

DMH2011 - HANDMADE URBANISM with ZuloArk

We decided to invite the architectural collecti-ve Zuloark to organise this workshop, with the goal of bringing life into the ETSAM courtyard.

Each of the 3 groups that took part in the ac-tivity built a wooden truss, which were then joined in order to complete a piece of funny

public furniture.

DMH2012 - CANYAVIVA WORKSHOP with Canyaviva

In 2012 we managed to bring Canyaviva, a co-llective dedicated to the research and cons-

truction with structural canes.

Their proposal was to build a prototype made of 5 arches of different lengths joined to-gether. The workshop remains uncovered, un-completed waiting for a second future phase.
