    PACKAGE

Package Design: Goal was to design bottled water based on the island of Guam.

    Final Product: Coral

Audience: MidAged (3644) and Young Adults (1825). Aimed specifically towards the social elites.Weight: 12 oz.Price: $12 a bottle.Availability: Restaurants and hotels in Connecticut, DC, Hawaii, California, and Texas.Specifics/Other: This bottled water is not sold in stores, only in select hotels in states with the wealthiest people. Concept: The name Coral derives from the fact that Guam doesnt have sand, but ground coral. They are also big on preserving their wild life and environment, which is why the bottle is made of glass and content is printed on the bottle (no paper). The cap would be wooden cork, which are natural, recyclable, and biodegradable (yes, wooden corks can regrow!)

    Final Product: La Llave

Audience: Seniors (70-80)Weight: 12 oz.Price: Same ($5.99)Availability: Common grocery stores (Ralphs, Vons, etc.)Specifics/Other: 60s inspired. Concept: The target audience set the inspiration. I researched heavily into the 1960s packaging, and found many (3+) fonts and colors used. There were a lot of cheesy lines or catch phrases used. The goal wasnt to redesign a completely new packaging, but to aim it towards a specific group without alienating the already targeted audience; hence, the use of similar colors from the original (dark green and the gold/yellow).

    NARRAT I V E & SEQUENCE

Narrative & Sequence: The purpose of this course was to help us learn the art of story making and applying it to

assignments which were alldone through the use of computer software.

Title Sequence: Criminal MindsI was to create a reinterpreted title sequencefor a show I was interested in. The show I chosewas Criminal Minds, and the opening sequence was to show viewers of what the show is about. Also, the logo had to be redesigned, and some elements from the video had to be our own. Inthis case, its the photographs of the criminals.

Typography: Goal wasto create a type-basedvideo. Though we couldhave visual elements, the video itself couldnt rely solely on images.

Typographic Video: GeorgeThis video was based on the poem Georgewritten by Hillaire Belloc in early 20th Century.Concept: The concept was to take this dark poem about chaos and the cause of The Great Depressioninto a childrens story, relying on fonts/typefaces and visual elements. Color was used to set the mood, where its happy at first, but soon becomes dark.

  • Hello. If you are reading this, it means you have reached the end of this book. Initially, I wanted this book to be a portfolio so I could get an internship or a good start into my career. But, as I was designing this miniature portfolio book, I realized that this is not just about the job I can get when I leave Otis College, but a collection of my favorite works that Ive done so far (flashback!) This is a collection that I hope would give you insight on some of my skills, abilities, and things that I have enjoyed making.

SoI hope this has been a great experience for you and I hope youve enjoyed this as much as I have in my last two years here at Otis.

    With much regards,

    Jessica Kimgraphic design student
