Work Experience Spring 2013 HDR Architecture, Chicago, IL Team member who assisted with a joint project with Gensler Architecture.Tasks performed included working with computer programs,orderingspecifications,and making use of the material library. Social skillswerehighlyneededtomeetwithtextile representatives.

Summer, 2011, 2012 Schilling Farms YMCA, Collierville, TN Lifeguard with responsibilities that include ensuring an atmosphere of displine, friendliness, and safety. Must be able to work as a team and be personable with facility members.

ThiswasafinaldesignthatcombinedalloftheelementsIusedthroughout a quarter in my previous projects. The piece emphasizes the change of density and has the sense of being chaotic. It also has impossible characteristics.

Gesture drawings varied from 30 seconds to one minute.

The16”x16”finalcubeabovewasacombinationofaprevious line, a previous plane, and a previous volume cube andhadtostandonallsixsides.

Thedrawingtotherightisafinalthatcombinedthefourcubes I created throughout the quarter: line cube, plane cube,volumecube,andthefinalcube.

These renderings were pinned side by side, enabling them to tell a story.

The21/2’x9”cardboardmodelisthatofahallwayandsetof stairs on campus. Along with three other team members, I studied how the stairs reacted with the surrounding area.

Iexplored100unitsofonematerialinordertodiscoveritstransformationpossibilities.Ireconfiguredeachfishinghooktocreate a stich that highlighted the nature of the material. The stich isfreeflowingandcontrastshoweachunitisangularandsharp.

Thedrawingtotheleftisamatrixthatconsistsoffourindividualconfigurationsthataretransformeduntoeachothertoproduceanew unit. Thedrawingbelowisastudyofaspacethatistrasfiguredfromallangles and highlights how chaotic it feels when going through it.

The studio team constructed larger units that demostrated possibilities of multiple spaces from connecting the smaller individual units. The individual aluminum units were connected with screws and nuts and the spacial structures varied from arches to enclosed areas to rest inside of.

Asastudio,overacourseoffiveweeks,wedevelopedone‘unit’thatinterconnected with its same for the making of one space. We went through many models and prototypes starting with foam, moving on to wood,andfinallyaluminum.

Thefinalspacialconstructionwasplacedinoneoftheuniversity’scommons.Thedesignwasplacedunderanoverhang in a common walkway so as pedestrians would interact with the piece but was not so that it was an obstruction.

The exploded axonemetric was a library study done with three other peers.

After the library study was done, we designed our own. Through much research, planning, and crafting, I came up with my own three story, fully functional library.Interiorrenderingsareshownhere,whileonthenextpagetherearesections,elevations,andfloorplans.

The entire semester while working at HDR, we worked on this hospital. As shown on thispage,IrenderedmanyfloorplansandelevationsinIllustrator.Onthepagetotheright,AutoCadskillsareshowninthefloorplanthatIhelpedrearrangeformaximumspace and wheelchair assessability. There are Sketch-Up renderings shown as well, thatweredonetoshowtheclientdifferentvariationsoftextiles.Alongwiththeseprograms,IusedRevitfrequentlytorearrangefloorplansandcasework.

OfficeoftheFuture

Based on present technology and problems of today, I worked withtwopierstocreatethe“OfficeoftheFuture”.Oursystemincluded a noise cancelling puck that created ones own personal, quite area. We also created an user interface that had differentmagneticallyattachableunitsthatwereexpandableand lightweight so they could be easily carried. The system embracedfiveessentialaspectsofthefutureworker:mobility,personalization, health, sustainability, and focus.
