Portable Non-Destructive Testing
NCCEF offers an extensive suite of non-destructive
testing equipment. These range from large state of
the art X-ray equipment with ultra high defect
resolution to small hand held ultrasonic equipment
for detecting delaminations in composite materials.
A significant proportion of this NDT equipment was
designed to be portable and so can be used for
examination of composite components and
structures in the field.
NCCEF can perform NDT in the field using full field techniques suchas laser shearography and active pulsed thermography
NCCEF can provide ultrasonic inspection using pulsed echo techniques to determine spatial position, size and depth of defects.
Interpretation of ultrasonic NDT results can be performed by ASNTand PCN Level 3 inspectors if required
"A wide range of portable NDT techniques tailored for composite
materials and supported by highly knowledgeable staff and
excellent composite testing and evaluation facilities."
Dantec Q800 Laser Shearography System
Non-contact, full field technique. The system is capable of
detecting defects such as delaminations, disbonds, kissing bonds,
wrinkling and impact damage. Areas of a few mm2 to several m2
can be examined in 10-30 seconds.
Olympus IPLEX LX Borescope
Borescope system for optical examination and measurement of
surface defects inside components and structures which are
normally impossible to inspect. System is capable of 3.5m reach
with 130° end articulation.
Olympus Bondmaster 1000e+
A versatile, full multi-mode ultrasonic bond tester with Resonance,
MIA, Pitch/Catch mode and RF display mode. Most modes of
operation require no surface couplant to detect disbonds in a
composite structure.
Olympus Omniscan MX
A highly versatile instrument offering conventional ultrasonic and
phased array examination of composite materials. 0° testing gives
time of flight and amplitude of ultrasonic echoes. Separation of the
echoes into gates allows measurement of defect size and depth.
Thermo-Sensorik Active Pulsed Thermography
Non-contact, full field technique. The system is capable of detect-
ing defects such as delaminations, disbonds and impact damage.
Areas up to 1.5m2 can be examined in less than 30 seconds. The
position, size and depth of defects can be determined.
