THE Open DAW assisted by the Methodistchurch operate a monthly paperback bookswap for the community. This is held on thesecond Friday of each month in the MethodistChurch Hall in Brunswick Place.
People are invited to bring along e.g. five paperbacksand can change them for one to five books from the boxesof books on the table. There is no charge for doing this.
While in the hall why not have a cuppa with a cake,toasted teacake, bacon bap or even a mini breakfast.
Should you wish to purchase a book this can only bedone at the front of the church in the Open DAW.
Our next book swap takes place on Friday, May 810.00am 12 noon in the church hall. After the electionyou may want to take your mind off it all, so why notcome along, have a good browse and relax.

TEIGN Choral Society was founded in1955 and to celebrate their diamondjubilee they have invited friends fromKingsteigntons Choir 86 to join themin performing the well loved VivaldiGloria, and beautiful works by Bizetand Schubert.
A Rogers and Hammerstein medley(Oklahoma, Sound of Music etc etc includingThere is Nothing Like a Dame) will add extraoomph! Wonderful tunes that were verypopular in 1955.
Four very good soloists will reallycomplement the work of the choir with theirartistry and dramatic interpretation. The twochoirs and soloists will be accompanied by anorchestra and Aubrey Maybin on continuoand all will be directed by conductor DavidBowles.
It should be a memorable evening, thesociety looking back on its 60 years ofachievement and eagerly anticipating the next60.

IN JUST over a fortnight, the Mayorof Exmouth, Bill Nash, will announcecider festival, Scrumpstock open at5pm on Friday, May 15 for a weekendof festivities at Exmouth Rugby Club.Exmouths Town Crier will also be inattendance.
Exmouths Mayor Bill Nash said:Exmouth Town Council is dedicated to sup-porting activities for residents and visitorsalike in Exmouth. We welcome the Scrump-stock Festival at the Exmouth Rugby Cluband wish it every success.
Adults attending the festival can bringunder 18 year olds in for free to enjoy puppetshows by Rattlebox Theatre, one featuring apirate nun, face-painting, bubbles, gamesstalls, music, food and soft drinks.
To support young adults over the age of 18,Scrumpstock is benefitting Devon-based char-ity, the Snooky Trust, which was set up inmemory of charity founder Caz Steffensbrother Chris Snook, who died aged 27.
Following the severe storms in early 2014,The Snooky Trust worked with Dawlish Town
Council to help 46 people who had to fleetheir destroyed seafront homes and were leftwith just the clothes in which they werestanding. Caz said she was overwhelmed andhumbled by people donating food, toiletries,clothing and bedding.
As well as diverse musical acts performingat the festival, there are jam sessions on theSaturday and Sunday for festival-goers whowant to make their own music.
Just confirmed are folk pop indie bandBonsai Pirates from Bournemouth, Boy LeMonti from North Dorset who play old skoolska and rocksteady, Jamaican dance music ofthe sixties, and Whack Turkey from SouthWales, whose act is known as The Rapture.
In terms of food there will be Devons ownWestaways, famed for their gourmet porksausages in freshly baked rolls.
Fans of pies and pasties will find Chunk ofDevon from nearby Ottery St Mary, with vari-eties including steak, chicken, sausage andham, as well as their award-winning roastedvegetable pasty.
