The University The Fifth Annual Report presented aims to show the wide spectrum of activities undertaken

in the university and the strength reflected in its performance during the academic session

2016-17. The Poornima University is a premier organization of higher learning which has taken a

significant lead in creation and dissemination of knowledge through its outstanding programs

and right philosophy of education. The University was established on May 16, 2012 under the

act of Rajasthan State Legislature vide (Act No. 16/ 2012). It owes its origin to Poornima

College of Engineering which forayed into professional education in the year 2000 with a

humble beginning by offering some job-oriented programs like B. Tech. and M. Tech. On

getting overwhelming response from the students and the people around, the sponsoring body

Shanti Education Society finally established an independent University and christened it as

Poornima University.

Poornima University: An Overview The University Grants Commission (UGC) in the year 2012 empowers the University to

award degrees U/s 22 of under Rajasthan Private Universities Act, 1958. Presently, the

University offers a wide range of programs to meet the trained and competent manpower

requirement of the society and industries. The University by creating capacity for social,

cultural and economic development has emerged as a major player in strengthening and

diversifying the regional economy of the state of Rajasthan. In a very short span of time it has

started getting the attention of the leading corporate for meeting their requirement of

manpower. The University follows an Interdisciplinary approach in all of its programs and

encompasses a national and international view point in its teaching, research and consultancy. Our Driving Force The arduous and gigantic task of setting up of the University was initiated by Hon’ble

Chairperson of Poornima University, Dr. S.M. Seth, who along with the dynamic and

energetic President of Poornima University, Dr. K.K.S. Bhatia, strived hard to lay the

foundation of world class University and is continuously engaged in the strategic planning to

create an environment for providing not only quality education but also value added courses

along with excellent communication and employment skills, a characteristic feature of world

class University.

The Poornima University is located in Jaipur which is a lively and vibrant city. Situated in

Northern India at a distance of around 265 km south of Delhi, Jaipur would have been a part

of the Thar Desert, but for the Aravalli Hills that provides it with much needed security from

one side. Jaipur offers a multitude of interesting places and attractions. Such as lush parks and

places for recreation. There are several magnificent places and forts such as the City Place,

Amber and Nahargarh. It is a city of fun, food and festivals. Vibrant colors, likely folk music

and dance performances mark the celebrations of every religious occasion and every change

of season. It is, indeed, the ‘Pink City’, a heady mix of tradition & modernity, vibrant with

recreational, social as well as educational experiences for the students. It has all the facilities

and entertainment a student needs; excellent shops, super markets, malls, restaurants, clubs,

sports facilities and a thriving cultural scene.

The University is situated in Sitapura, the education hub of Jaipur. The main Railway Station

and Bus Stand are approximately 22 km from the University whereas the Airport is about 13

km away located at Sanganer. Poornima University is 5 km away from Choki Dhani which is

world famous for its typical Rajasthani culture. Frequent city transport and private transport

services are available for the University from every point of the city.

The Campus of the University is spread over an area of approximately 33 acres. It presents a

spectacle of harmony in modern architecture, natural beauty and picturesque surrounding.

The campus area has been organized into following functional sectors:

Maintenance yards The instructional buildings have been so located that these are fairly near to both the hostels

and the staff quarters and are at a walking distance from both. There is a branch of Bank of

India in the premises of the University. Adequately equipped Canteen facility within the

Academic Block is provided to the students and the staff during and beyond the working

hours of the University.

The University has been established to build a multi-disciplinary research based organization with the

following salient features:

6 Independent Schools (departments) covering a wide spectrum of job oriented programs at

UG, PG and doctoral levels.

Sprawling campus spread over an area of 131028.63 sqm of land.

33,857 sq.m constructed area to facilitate academic and developmental activities in the

campus.

Separate boys and girls hostels to accommodate 850 students.

World class gymnasium with state of the-art air-conditioned fitness centre.

3 Air conditioned multi-purpose halls with seating capacity of 200+ each.

10 semi-furnished residential accommodations for faculty and staff in the campus.

Wide and excellent network of transport to facilitate the accessibility to students from

adjoining areas (11 Buses with more than 165 pickup points covering Jaipur city).

Symbolizes Pan-India culture. Presently students from 12 states are studying in different

programs.

Modern indoor sports complex is under construction at an approximate cost of Rs. 6.5 Crores.

uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) for all PCs

Academic Programs Offered At present the University offers four-year UG courses leading to the B. Tech. degree, three-

year UG courses leading to the BBA, BCA, BFA & B.Com. degree, four years of Bachelor of

Design degree and five years of Bachelor of Architecture degree. The PG courses of two years

duration leading to the M. Tech. & MBA degree provide advance learning of the specialized

area and thus prepare a human resource possessing advance knowledge in the field of

engineering & technology and management. The University also offers a full-time/part-time

advance programme leading to the Ph.D. degree in the areas of

Examination and Evaluation System The subjects in the Teaching Scheme and Syllabus of each course have been classified into;

(A) Theory Subjects :

A multitier system of evaluation is used to assess the performance of every student in

each theory subject of a course as mentioned below:

(i) Internal Evaluation (IE)

There will be continuous evaluation for the students’ performance in a course

throughout the semester and marks will be awarded. In view of ease of assessment it

is further subdivided into continuous internal evaluations, mid semester examination,

assignments, attendance and conduct. There shall be continuous internal evaluation of the students’ learning and performance by the instructor(s)/faculty(s). Considering the nature of the course, the

instructor(s) will decide the mode of internal evaluation which may include class tests

/ project/papers/essays/ class participation/quiz. Evaluation on the basis of a Mid Semester Examination will be conducted by the

Department / School / University as per the requirement through written paper mode.

(ii) End Semester Examination (ESE)

There shall be evaluation on the basis of one End Semester Examination conducted by

the University through written paper mode.

(B) Practical/Sessional/Studio Subjects:

The system of evaluation used to assess the performance of every student in each

practical/sessional/studio subject of a course is as mentioned below:

(i) Internal Evaluation (IE)

There shall be continuous internal evaluation of the students’ learning and

performance by the instructor(s)/faculty(s). Considering the nature of the course, the

instructor(s) will decide the mode of internal evaluation. The students will be judged

on the basis of performance/lab records / Viva / Attendance / Quiz / Presentations /

Seminars / Projects or a combination of these.

Evaluation on the basis of a Mid Semester Examination will be conducted by the

Department / School / University through Practical/ Lab exam and Viva/Quiz.

(ii) End Semester Examination (ESE)

There shall be evaluation on the basis of one End Semester Examination conducted by

the Department / University through Practical/ Lab exam and/or Viva/Quiz.

Credit System Education at the University is organized around the credit system of study. The

prominent features of the credit system is process of continuous evaluation of a

student's performance, and a flexibility to allow a student to progress at an optimum

pace suited to his/her ability or convenience subject to fulfilling minimum requirement

for continuation.

Each course has a certain number of credits, which describe its weightage. A student’s

performance is measured by the number of credits that he/she has completed

satisfactorily. A minimum Grade Point Average is required to be maintained for

satisfactory process. Also a minimum number of earned credits should be obtained in

order to qualify for the degree.

Every course is co-ordinated by a member of the teaching staff of the department,

which offers the course in a given semester. This faculty member is called the Course

Co-ordinator. He has full responsibility for conducting the course, coordinating the

work of the other members of the faculty involved in that course and for holding tests

and assignments and awarding grades. For any difficulty a student is expected to

approach the Course Co-ordinator for advice and clarification.

Grading System

The total of the Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE), Mid Semester Examination

(MSE) and End Semester Examination (ESE) marks in each course will be converted

to a letter grade on the Ten-point scale as per the following scheme:

Training and Placement The department of training and placement provides on the job practical training and placement

services to the students of engineering, management, architecture and other existing programs.

Practical training is arranged in private/public manufacturing industries, government

departments, PSUs, engineering consultancy organizations, architectural companies and

consultants, information technology firms, R&D organizations and other institutions, which

provide real life products and services a large computerized database of more than 1000 such

organizations is maintained and updated continuously to cater to the needs of training and

placement of students. The department has got well-equipped air – conditioned seminar hall and

group discussion room having latest audio-visual facilities, for pre-placement seminars, group

discussion and personal interviews conducted by recruiting organizations. Following activities were conducted by the Training and Placement Cell in the Academic Session

2015-16 for the Third batch of University, focusing their holistic development along with

Details of Educational Visits

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering inaugurated educational visit and

knowledge centre for 100 kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic system on 23 June 2017. Sh. Sunil

Bansal (General Secretary, Rajasthan Solar Association, Jaipur) was chief guest for the event.

One day Training of 50 students of MSME was also carried out by University on 100 KW

grid connected System

1.2 kWp Solar Tree Project was inaugurated on 23 June 2017. On this occasion, updated

Scheme of B.Tech Electrical Engineering with focus on renewable energy was unveiled by

delegates. Also 5 projects were sponsored by Bajaj Electricals Limited and ISLE Jaipur.

(c) School of Engineering and Technology& SchoolOF Basic and Applied Sciences

(i) Autolite India Ltd: Students of B. Tech. II year EE and EEE and the students of B. Tech. III

year ECE visited Autolite India Limited (Autopal): situated at RIICO Industrial Area,

Mansarovar, Jaipur on July 17, 2015. The visit was coordinated by faculty members

Mr.Pankaj Gakhar and Mr.Ashish Raj Sinha. The students came to know about the complete

manufacturing process of LED based lamps and lights.

(ii) 220KV GSS: Students of B. Tech. III year EE visited 220 KV GSS, Mahindra SEZ, Bagru,

Jaipur on September 23, 2015. The purpose of the visit was to make the students familiar with

industrial environment and to acquaint them with practical knowledge of electrical power

transmission and distribution system.

(iii)Biomass Power Plant: Selected students of final year Electrical Engineering visited

Kalpataru Biomass Power Plant at Uniara, Tonk (Raj.) on September 24, 2015. This activity

was organized under Poornima Mission for Training, Placement & Outreach (PMTPO). The

purpose to choose this plant for industrial visit was to get students acquainted with a new

source to generate electrical power that is a “Bio-mass fuel (Mustard husk)”.

(iv) Jaipur Foot Visit with Ms. Claire Gutermuth: On 25 January,

2016, a visit to Jaipur Foot, an NGO run by Bhagwan Mahaveer

Sahayta Samiti was organized for students of Mechanical

Engineering Branch of Poornima University. The visit was done by

10 students of Mechanical Department of Poornima University with

Ms. Claire Gutermuth, Ms. Shalini Singh and Mr. Pratish Rawat, Dy

HOD (ME). Ms. Claire is from Fulbright-Nehru Student Research

Program. She is from Medical Sciences and is working on a project

of Low Cost Prosthetic Design and Care for Persons with

Amputations.There we met Chief Patron Shri D.R. Mehta, who

explained us the whole process of manufacturing of artificial limbs

and how the are implanted in the body. There we saw that how these

artificial limbs are manufactured through injection moulding. We also witnessed that how

wheel chairs are manufactured

and we visited GAIT LAB also.

(v) Visit to On-campus Solar Plant

Poornima University takes a big step in the field of renewable energy by installing 100 KW

Rooftop Solar Photo-Voltaic Power Plant with Net Metering thus, contributing to India’s

ambitious Solar-energy plans. On an average the daily power generation of this Solar plant is

450 KWh and average annual generation will be 1,50,000 Units. Besides Electric Power,

Poornima University will contribute in saving 25,500 barrel of crude oil or 3450 MT of CO2 or

43,000 trees annually. Energy-efficient Solar Power Plant built using concentrated PV

Modules also provides essential infrastructure to researcher of University to conduct research

and developments in the field of solar photo-voltaic technologies and applications.

(vi) Industrial Visit to Gujarat

Three days Educational tour to Ahmedabad and Vadodara was

organized by the department. Students of final year under the

guidance of Dr. Tarakeshwar Senapati visited Sardar Sarovar

Dam and Geotechnical Lab in Ahmedabad.

(viii) Jaipur Metro Visit

The students of Second Year, Civil Engineering, Poornima

University visited Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. Depot and

underground Chandpole Metro Station on December 30, 2015.

(ix) A Glance At Neesa Technology

Students of BCA (Cloud & Mobile) visited Neesa Technologies in Ahamedabad. Faculty

member Ravi Kumar, Apurva & Sandeep Devra accompanied the visit. With enthusiasm new

things being learned, thus giving an industrial level experience to the budding young minds.

(x) A Visit To Advertising Studio- Digitoonz Animation Studio, Noida

Students of BFA (Animation & VFX) visited Digitoonz Animation Studio which has its global

presence in Animation, Media & Entertainment, and Advertising industry. It is a full-service

Animation Production company specializing in the areas of producing TV Series in Flash, 2D

and CGI Animation for TV – Broadcast and feature film.

(d) Shool of Commerce and School of Management

The 7 days Industrial Visit for MBA III Semester students was planned on the route of

Silvassa, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and the industries visited were Alok industries, ParleG,

Bombay Rayon Fashions, KRYFS, Sudhir Genset, Min Toy Pvt.Ltd and Nipra Packaging.

Industrial Visits

1. MBA I Year visited "KEC INTERNATIONAL LIMITED which is one of the the

largest Power Transmission Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Company in

the world. The objective of the visit was to make student aware about the activities related

to marketing, finance and human resource.

2. The three days Industrial Tour for BBA V & B.Com V Semester

students was planned in the route of Baddi- Chandigarh and six

industries were visited i.e. Birla Textiles, D.P Chocos (Cadbury),

Coca Cola, Meltonics Pvt. Ltd, Ellin Electronics and Macleods

Pharma.

3. Industrial visit to India’s biggest printing press Dainik Bhaskar

located in Sitapura, Tonk Road was organized for the students of

B. Com I Year which is equipped with India’s biggest printing

machine with 8 towers of printing.

4. Another Industrial Visit for B.Com I Year was carried out at "Saras Dairy Plant" where

the main objective was to make student aware about how various processes & ISO standards,

that Jaipur Saras dairy is practicing.

5. The students of MBA II Year visited K.S. Ford Showroom at Jaipur to facilitate practical

learning and clarifying the concepts of Sales in competitive scenario.

Educational Tour- An educational tour was organized for MBA IV sem students to Baddi, Chandigarh and

Shimla where students visited companies working in various domains such as Textiles,

Pharmaceuticals, Electronics, FMCG and finally an interactive session was organized at Himachal

Pradesh University, Department of Management where students were imparted knowledge to cope

up with the challenges in the job market.

C. Curricular Industrial Training:

The academic curriculum provides for 30-60 days of Practical/ Industrial Training during

summer vacation after V semester for B.Tech. students, after II semester for MBA

students, after IV semester for BBA, BCA and B.Com. students and practical training of

complete VIII semester for B.Arch. students. The Placement and Training Cell facilitates

the practical training of students in Companies/Industries/Organizations of National and

International repute. To provide hands on experience and industry exposure to students

of B. Tech. / BCA / BBA / B. Com / MBA, 30/45/60 days industrial training after Third

(B. Tech.) / Second Year (BCA) is being planned as a part of curriculum.

Glimpse of Activities & Faculty Achievements

In this age of techno-scientific revolution, when there is exponential growth of knowledge

and information, there is a need to prepare such student’s population who have inner urge

and quest for knowledge and are equally enthusiastic to participate in scholastic as well as

non scholastic activities. Efforts are always on eliciting student’s involvement and to

sustain their interest in all the ongoing activities on the campus. These initiatives will

rekindle the desire to explore meaning of life and by participation in multifarious activities

will help them to attain a well groomed personality with “love for wisdom”.

The University follows the academic principles in letter and spirit to keep pace with ever

changing global scenario of the “World of Work”. It follows a well designed calendar of

activities that are detailed below one by one:

National Workshop on NANOTECHNOLOGY for

Futuristic Engineering Applications:

Money, Compact and Efficiency are the three keywords which are heard in our day to day

life. As the result of globalization and advancement in science and technology these three

keywords have been conquered simultaneously. One such technology satisfying above

mentioned agendas is ‘NANOTECHNOLOGY’. To give brief idea upon this technology a

national workshop was organized in Poornima campus on November 19, 2016 under the

table guidance of Mr.Rakesh Kumar Mishra, assistant professor, physics department,

Poornima University. The chief guest of the day was Prof. R.P. Tandon, Delhi University

which was followed by several other great dignitaries like Dr. C. Periasamy, MNIT, Jaipur,

Dr. K. Awasthi, MNIT, and Jaipur. The icing on the cake for the event was that 116

participants participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in this conference. The conference

was all about the use of nanotechnology in medical diagnosis and as a source for decreasing

global warming. The effective ideas and the grandeur of renowned dignitaries set as a

motivating example for the students to work sincerely on such a small scale for the

sustainable development of the society and consequently the whole today’s scenario.

Teacher’s Day:

Teachers are the torch bearers

and they are the one who show the path

of success to their students. The Ist year

department organized a program to

celebrate Teacher’s Day. With the

graceful presence of Dr.S.M.Seth sir,

Chancellor, PU, at Arbuda along with

all the faculty members. The

environment was full of enthusiasm

with our chief guest Dr.S.M.Seth and

all the dignitaries is Dr.K.KS.Bhatia

,President ,PU , Dr. Manoj Gupta , Provost , PU and Dr.PritiKaushik HOD (event

coordinator ).

Dr.S.M.Seth Sir gave an outstanding presentation on future engineers and the mission and

vision of the field of engineering. He showed several inspiring videos to the students to

imbibe the message hidden inside them and can follow a SMART goal. After that, all the

dignitaries released the Teacher’s Day flex; and the meritorious students received prizes for

their outstanding performances. Then the students resumed to their classes and received

special lectures by II year students. After that the students took part wholeheartedly in

Poster making competition and Debate competition with a lot of excitement. The day ended with peace and joy.

of March, 2017 was being

celebrated as “International Women’s Day “by

B.Tech department of Poornima University to

celebrate the achievements of women and their

strength to fight against all the hurdles of their

life.

This wonderful occasion was

inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the

presiding guest Mrs.RenuSinghi, chief guest Mrs. ShashiMathur, guest of honor,

Dr.PrabhaLuhadia and Dr.VeenaChangani, Mrs.Neeru Bhatia and other dignitaries. To

abilities.

After that the occasion flourished with the cultural dance by students of first year,

Sanchi and Somya (CE, I year). Also to make women proud there was a documentary

students related to social as well as the health issues faced by the woman. The event ended

15th September, 2016 was being

celebrated as Engineer’s Day by the first

year department. On this auspicious day

the students showed their great gratitude

to Sir Moksha undam Visvesvaraya for

his commendable contribution towards

engineering. On this day along with the faculty members the students of SET first year participated in a

group discussion activity with great zeal .The theme of group discussion was “Skill

development for young engineers to reform the core sector.” The winners of the activity

Adhyaay is a hostel fest which is

organized by Poornima Foundation every

year in Himalaya Hostel. It's a fest where

Himalaya's hostel Students participate and

show their skills and talent. Indoor and

outdoor events are organized in Adhyaay

every year. Adhyaay 2017 Theme is

"Tribute to soldiers" where we trying to

tribute our Indian soldiers through site

theme and posters. The Totel no of events

held is 41 which was divided into 5

categories. The closing ceremony of

Adhyaay held in arbuda where the great

effort of winner's of each event is

encouraged by giving them a trophy along

with the certificate.overall its was a great

celebration of 3 days for all the students of Himalaya Hostel.

GESTION – The Management Colosseum

March 30–31, 2017

The two day management fest was organized by Poornima School of Management

with a thought and vision to provide a platform to budding managers to showcase their

professional talents and their skills to meet the challenges of the real world. Gestion upholds

the nuances of ethnicity and modernity keeping in view the cultural, traditional and the

global perspective.

The fest has been lively and interactive. 16 MBA and other colleges have

participated in this program. The program was declared open by Dr. K.K.S Bhatia, President

Poornima University on 30 March, 2017, the Chief Guest in the opening session of the

event. Dr. Manoj Gupta, Provost, Poornima University also addressed the gathering.

Gestion covered various management and cultural events like Business Plan, Non

gas cooking, Business Quiz , Group Dance, Solo Dance, Nukkad Natak, Face Painting,

Hand Painting, Mehandi Designing, Tattoo Making, Rangoli Making, Mr. and Ms. Gestion,

Kite Fighting, Solo Song and Photography.

Mr. Rahul Singhi, Director, Poornima Group of Colleges was the Chief Guest in the

valedictory session of the program on 31 March 2017. He distributed prizes to the winners

and delivered the valedictory address.

Model United Nation (MUN) was conducted in Poornima University under the guidance of

Harish Saini, Secretary General, MUN. There were three committees setup under the MUN-

Lok Sabha, UN-HRC and DISEC. The student of all ages took part and got acknowledge

that how the real discussion in parliament happen. It was 2 days setup, in which discussion

was made on the various topics by the members of parliament. At the closing ceremony,

MUN team announced the best speaker, best verbal communication and gave them prize

money along with the memento and vote of thanks was given by the Secretary general.

LAKSHYA 2017- The Sports & Cultural Fest

Lakshya, the Annual Sports & Cultural fest held by Poornima University every year.

This year the fest took place during on 11th April 2017 to 13th April 2017. These days were

the most enthusiastic, happening, exciting days of the year. Breaking records this year as

well, LAKSHYA was a success with the participation of more than 1200 students within our

university & from 28 different colleges from hitting the scoreboard of 350 participation in

carom to well counted head in box cricket. Culture is the widening of the mind & of the

spirit. From soothing our spirits to giving an eye-opening message we had max participation

in nukkad natak with the theme based on a social message. Well after getting a good

participation in sports & cultural events, the club was left nowhere behind with again having

the max participation in angry birds. Seeing the enthusiastic participation, the LOTTERY

SYSTEM has been introduced for the first time.

The Great Britain Debate

The Great Britain Debate 2016, an all India Debate competition has been successfully held

since 2013 across India. This year similar rounds are being organised in Ahmedabad,

Indore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Delhi & Jaipur. The

Great Britain Debate is a unique opportunity to celebrate & promote the UK & India’s

shared culture of vibrant discussion & intellectual debate.

The Rajasthan leg of the Inter- University Debate competition was conducted on Friday

January 20th

at Arbuda Convention Centre, PIET Campus, ISI-2, RIICO Institutional Area,

Sitapura, Jaipur. The topic of the debate was “ Building inclusive & pluralist society is the

best protection against violent extremism.” The debate was judged on Preparation,

Annual NASA Convention

The National Association of students of Architecture, commonly referred to as NASA India,

is one of the largest Architectural Student Organisation in the world with student

participants from more than 200 institutions all over India & countries around the world.

NASA India provides a platform for architecture students to learn & interact, engaging

them, directly & indirectly through both online & offline platforms. NASA India conducts

& zonal levels.

School of Planning & Architecture (SPA), Poornima University hosted an

unprecedented convention, witnessing scads of exploration activities including workshops,

seminars, visits & discussions with eminent personalities leading to perpetual learning & a

scholarly successful event.

The Theme of 59th

Annual NASA Convention, PARALLEL PROJECTION. A Parallel

Projection has a unique capacity of levelling the human eye & its perspective. 59th

Annual

NASA Convention happened for the 1st time in Rajasthan & it turned the pages of history

over & started a new chapter with its unconventional ideas.

SAMAGAM

Samagam was an event organized by the members of Poornima Pathshala on the occasion of

children’s day celebration, 14th November 2016. It was a full day celebration includes many

events & programs.

The day starts with the arrival of children from Poornima Pathshala & different NGO’S.

After the breakfast the students were assemble in the centre dome where a drawing

competition was organise for the kids. After that all the students are subdivide in three parts.

One part move to seminar hall for the video presentation related to create awareness about

good touch & bad touch. Second part shift to game Zone where different type of indoor &

outdoor games arrangement were done to entertain children. Last part to the medical check-

up & after that all the part shuffle one after another.

Lunch was also there for children. After lunch culture function include dance, singing,

drama was there. At the last gift were distributed to every child at last group photograph.

The main aim of the event is to spread happiness among the children on the very special

day.

ICRAIE-2016

With the combined effect of Poornima University & Poornima College of Enginee/ring, the

2nd

International Conference ICRAIE- 2016 was organised. It could bring together the

Academicians, Researchers & Engineering & Electrical Engineering for dissemination of

original research & new innovation at international platform. IEEE Delhi Section, supported

by IEEE Rajasthan Subsection & Technically Co- sponsored by ISLE, IETE, ISTE & IEI,

technically sponsored ICRAIE 2016. Participants from different countries like South Africa,

Iran, Germany& Nigeria presented their research & like that 250 papers, 539 manuscripts &

22 oral sessions were presented.

ORION

On 6th

May2017, a hobby club activity was conducted 'Orion-2017' which was student

driven activity as well.

The activity was divided into group and individual events which was a combination of fun,

academics and general awareness. As the activity was student driven, it was oriented by the

students and for the students. The entire program and coordination of activities was

managed by students of BBA final year. The event started with brief introduction of

activities. At the forefront, General Quiz was conducted which focused on the scenario of

entertainment, politics and business. Thereafter, activities were conducted in the sequence

like: picture perception, instant advertising and paper building. The activities were designed

with various considerations like: to compete on various parameters of perspective

effectiveness, creative approach, team effectiveness and presentation skills on the basis of

selected theme.

On the parallel front, individual activities like

LAN Gaming, SUDOKU, Rough Sketching

and Mind Games were going on. Under these

activities, students were participated in any

selected one activity on the basis of interest.

The entire gamut of activities was managed by

students keeping the rationale of sharing

internet, to draw pictures and aptitude in mind.

There were different one minute activities that have been planned where students were

chosen on random basis. In the end, winners were announced by department Dy. HOD Mr.

Priyesh Tiwari accompanied by Ms. Surbhi Mathur, Assistant Professor to honor the

winners with prizes. Overall the event was planned well with enthusiasm and dedicated

Dr. Arun Dev Dhar Dwivedi, Professor in the Department of EEE, has been awarded by

early career research award by Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department

of Science & Technology (DST) government of India & a project entitled “Numerical

Simulation & Compact modelling of Organic Thin Film Transistors (OTFTs) for Future

Flexible Electronics” of total cost of Rs. 5000000.00 has been approved under this scheme.

IEM (Innovation Excellence Mission) 2017 is a pioneer step towards achieving excellence

in innovations. PU was awarded in the category of Best Research & Development Activity.

INDUSTRY- INSTITUTE INTERFACING FOR NATION BUILDING

The Employment Association of Rajasthan In association with Bhardwaj Foundation Jaipur.

“We will be remembered only if we give our younger generation a

prospectus & safe India, resulting out of economy properly accompanied by cultural

heritage” said APJ Abdul Kalam.”

Employers’ Association of Rajasthan was established in 1964 by eminent industrialist &

freedom fighters Late Sh. Kamalnayan Bajaj to create common platform which could jointly

take up the common concern if Industrialists of Rajasthan regarding Power , Infrastructure,

Industrial Policies, conservation of Energy & water, capacity building & skill development

with appropriate authorities.

The function was coordinated by Poornima University under the visionary leadership of Dr.

K.K.S. Bhatiya, President, PU & Dr. Manoj Gupta, Provost, PU:

Orientation Program – 2016-2017

To offer enlightening start & to orient students to campus life to prepare them to be

successful & for their holistic development, this year’s new student’s orientation program

“UDGAM(2016-2017) welcomed all of our first year students to the Poornima Family with

great enthusiasm who had arrived & were excited & anxious.

UDGAM is all about connecting the new students & to design an environment for learning

the transformation from school life to college life. Also, the program had the motive to

spread awareness regarding the Poornima’s mission & vision. The Poornima family was

delighted to have the presence of Mr. Naveen Agarwal, Secretary North Western Railway.

The occasion was filled with enthusiasm with the presence of the dignitaries Dr. K.K.S

Bhatia, President, PU. At the end scholarship certificates were given to the scholar students

& program ended on a note of positivity & willingness with the vote of thanks by Dr.

Pragya Mishra followed by Poornima Gaan.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS

Industrial visit is one of the visits to make students get a rough idea about ongoing activities

in companies. For eg, having the food in front of you & not knowing how to eat it makes no

sense. In similar way, industrial visit is a preterm experience in industry which provides an

opportunity to students to learn things in more practical manner. It makes us aware about

industrial environment & how to cope up with the industrial activities in more efficient

manner. With these aspirations & hopes, students of 1st year of different branches got such a

golden chance to have such an extraordinary experience at different industries like Jaipur

Saras Diary, Dainik Bhaskar, Solar Power Plant. The outcome was fruitful as students

clarified their various technical concepts.

Infrastructure and Facilities

As the academic team works strenuously to give shape to the vision, mission and

intellectual content, the engineering wing of the University is working equally hard to

conceptualize the physical elements needed to provide learning friendly environment.

The campus plan incorporates the ideology of the University in its design. It is spread over

sprawling area of 33 acres of land. To stimulate and sustain the intellectual needs, the

students and teachers are provided good infrastructure, resources and ambience; artistic

landscape has enhanced the beauty with lush green lawns and rows of ornamental plants.

To address the issues related to resource and energy conservation, new concepts such as rain

water harvesting, sewage treatment, development of water bodies and use of solar energy

have been extensively applied in the campus.

COMPUTER CENTRE: The Computer Centre, a centralized computing facility of the University, caters to the need

of different academic departments and various sections of the University by providing and

managing extensive computing & networking facilities of the University.

The Computer Centre of Poornima University with its mission and dedication to create

and maintain a computing environment for the pursuit of academic excellence, opens for

extended hours well beyond University hours. The Center as being a dedicated resource

unit, provides professional services, promotes and assists towards the use of new

computing technology among the students, staff and administration at the University. The

Computer Centre at Poornima University has committed itself to be a leading

computational facility in higher education by providing the University community with

state-of-art facilities to cater to their computational needs and access to internet resources

and online functioning of all processes of the University.

To facilitate the use of the latest information technology in University’s teaching, learning,

research and administration, to provide an excellent network environment that facilitates

the access and exchange of information, to put innovation in technology transfer, to assist

the University in its mission, to enable faculty, staff and students to use the computer and

network resources effectively and efficiently, and to aim to provide the best quality IT

services in the region, the Computer Centre has continued to re-engineer the process of its

service operations for increased productivity and better quality.

The Computer Centre also provides internet and intranet facilities to all users in the

University. For the network services, centre has the high end computational servers on

which Point to Point on Ethernet (PPOE) authentication accounts are created for students,

staff and faculty of the departments for accessing internet in a secured way and the same

provided they secured email accounts on University mail server.

WORKSHOPS:

There are existing Workshop facilities in Mechanical Engineering Department which cater

to workshop needs for all first year students, as per different course requirements as well

as needs of the other departments. It is undergoing modernization. Central workshop will be a central facility with state of the art machines to meet the

following objectives:

1. To impart training to the students of all branches of B.Tech. first year in various

shops. 2. To impart training on latest machine tools to B. Tech. (Mechanical Engg.) students.

3. To provide the workshop facilities for fabrication of minor and major projects to the

students of all branches. 4. Workshop would have state of the art machine tools and equipments required for

carrying out research work at M. Tech. and Ph.D. level in all the departments and

sections of the University. 5. To develop a project lab which will have all basic tools required for carrying out

projects of all the departments of the University. 6. To ensure safe working environment for staff and students. 7. To upkeep University furniture and other infrastructures. 8. To provide consultancy to industries/ organizations thereby improving University-

Industry relationship. 9. Along with the above mentioned primary objectives the workshop would also be

used for community development activities such as organizing training programs for

society and staff.

LABORATORIES:

In addition to the Central workshop and Computer Centre, each department has

laboratories in their specific areas of specialization. These laboratories are being used

conducting experiments for B.Tech. and M. Tech. students for their regular course work

and also for research purposes. Few more laboratories have also been created to cater to

the needs of research scholars. These laboratories provide facilities for research and are

being used by faculty and Ph.D. & M.Tech. students.

LIBRARY:

The Central Library is located in the Academic block-I, where visitors can approach easily.

It has 800 Sq. meter area in Ground floor. It is well equipped with new and modern

furniture including stacks. The sitting area of the users is fully air cooled. Each sitting area

/hall is having different reading tables for the users. The Central Library has been

introduced with new name i.e. “LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE”. 1. Library Automation and Computerization

The Central Library has Library Management Software (Sharp) developed by PJ

Foundation, Software cell, Jaipur. The circulation services have also been computerized and

books are issued through Bar Code Technology only.

Continuation of Poornima University scholarship for students admitted in session 2016-17 in

School of Engineering & Technology, School of Planning & Architecture, School of

Management, School of Basic & Applied Sciences, School of Commerce& School of Design are

as per following norms:

1. A candidate who is availing any kind of scholarship/financial assistance from

Government/Semi Government or any other private organizations for educational

support is not entitled for Poornima University Scholarship Scheme.

2. Any violation of above said term will result in stopping of Poornima University

Scholarship Scheme and recovery of already granted Scholarship.

3. Candidate has to pay the complete remaining fee after the deduction of scholarship

amount at the time of admission.

4. Above said scholarship is for the first year (both semester) only.

5. Scholarship scheme will be further continued on the basis of CGPA (previous year),

calculated on theory papers only

6. Students who are not entitled for scholarship in first year are not eligible for

scholarship in further years. 7. Students getting ‘back’ in any semester will not be eligible for scholarship in future.

8. Students who fail to fulfil the below mentioned criterion at any point of time will not be

eligible for this scholarship in future.

CAFETERIA:

Besides Central Mess facilities, a well maintained cafeteria in the academic block-I of the

University, has been started for providing hygienic, moderately priced and delicious foods

items to the students. Verities of Indian dishes are part of menu in this cafeteria.

TRANSPORTATION:

For effective transportation, there is a separate efficient transport department managed by

skilled officers & staff and well trained drivers. There is a fleet of buses, cars, ambulances

and others vehicles to provide uninterrupted transport facility to the students, faculty and

guests.

Presently, University has a fleet of 10 Swaraj Mazda buses, 2 cars, 2 Vans, an Ambulance, 2

small trucks for carriage and 1 tractor for horticulture and other such activities undertaken in the

campus.

A regular Free Shuttle service is also available every hour flexible travel among our four

campuses. The shuttle covers the route for Bus stand, Hospital, Bank and Grocery etc. The

hostlers are provided free transportation throughout the year for coaching classes like GATE,

Competitive Exams and Programming Languages within the Jaipur city. Well maintained cars are being used for administrative work and for picking/ dropping our

guests visiting the University. 24 hours ambulance service facility is available for students and

staff for the hospital.

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. Rooms are spacious, clean, airy and well

maintained with attached bathrooms and are also available on sharing basis (all double seated

rooms). Each room is furnished with beds, wardrobes, study tables and chairs. Air cooling has

also been provided for some specific rooms in each hostel. Round-the-clock power back-up

facility is available in the campus. Air cooling rooms are made available on request. Solar

heaters have been installed for providing hot water during winters. Water purifiers and water

coolers have been installed to provide potable water. Keeping in mind the increasing demand of hostel facility, University has created adequate

hostel accommodation for boys and girls.

There are three hostels for the students of our University. The details of rooms are as follows:

Hostel/ Mess Management

Presently we are having mess facility in all hostels. The Mess in Himalaya Hostel-1 and Himalya

Hostel-2 are being operated by the management of the University. All Messes have modern facilities to

facilitate proper hygiene.

Laundry Facilities

Modern laundry facilities have been installed in Himalya Hostel-2 for residents of Boys and Girls

Hostels.

Other Facilities

There are three common Rooms for each hostel having facility of one colour television with seating

capacity of 60 students in each room, and three Table Tennis rooms in each hostel.

HOSPITAL, POST OFFICE AND SHOPPING CENTRE: The instructional building has been so located that it is fairly near to all the hostels and is at a walking

distance from them. There is a branch of The Bank of India in the premises and Post office and

Hospital is located near to the University campus. The University has also been extending facility of a

medical male and female doctor in the campus. Adequately equipped Cafeteria building near the

Academic Block-I provides facilities to the students and the staff during and beyond the working hours

of the University. There is a barber’s shop, washer men and stationary shop with zerox facility to

provide amenities to the residents.

GAMES AND SPORTS FACILITIES:

The University Physical Education and Sports have created and developed a positive and healthy sports

culture among students and staffs and they are enjoying one of the best facilities of the University. The

vision is to produce fit engineers and managers for the nation with improved quality like positive

leadership among students, men managing, quick decision making ability, body sculpture and especially

Fitness and Diet awareness. The existing games and Sports facilities are:

(vii) Autolite India Ltd: Students of B. Tech. II year EE and EEE and the students of B.

Tech. III year ECE visited Autolite India Limited (Autopal): situated at RIICO Industrial

Area, Mansarovar, Jaipur on July 17, 2015. The visit was coordinated by faculty members

Mr.Pankaj Gakhar and Mr.Ashish Raj Sinha. The students came to know about the complete

manufacturing process of LED based lamps and lights.

(viii) 220KV GSS: Students of B. Tech. III year EE visited 220 KV GSS, Mahindra SEZ,

Bagru, Jaipur on September 23, 2015. The purpose of the visit was to make the students

familiar with industrial environment and to acquaint them with practical knowledge of

electrical power transmission and distribution system.

(ix) Biomass Power Plant: Selected students of final year Electrical Engineering visited

Kalpataru Biomass Power Plant at Uniara, Tonk (Raj.) on September 24, 2015. This activity

was organized under Poornima Mission for Training, Placement & Outreach (PMTPO). The

purpose to choose this plant for industrial visit was to get students acquainted with a new

source to generate electrical power that is a “Bio-mass fuel (Mustard husk)”.

(x) Jaipur Foot Visit with Ms. Claire Gutermuth: On 25 January,

2016, a visit to Jaipur Foot, an NGO run by Bhagwan Mahaveer

Sahayta Samiti was organized for students of Mechanical

Engineering Branch of Poornima University. The visit was done by

10 students of Mechanical Department of Poornima University with

Ms. Claire Gutermuth, Ms. Shalini Singh and Mr. Pratish Rawat, Dy

HOD (ME). Ms. Claire is from Fulbright-Nehru Student Research

Program. She is from Medical Sciences and is working on a project

of Low Cost Prosthetic Design and Care for Persons with

Amputations.There we met Chief Patron Shri D.R. Mehta, who

explained us the whole process of manufacturing of artificial limbs

and how the are implanted in the body. There we saw that how these

artificial limbs are manufactured through injection moulding. We also witnessed that how

wheel chairs are manufactured

and we visited GAIT LAB also.

(xi) Visit to On-campus Solar Plant

Poornima University takes a big step in the field of renewable energy by installing 100 KW

Rooftop Solar Photo-Voltaic Power Plant with Net Metering thus, contributing to India’s

ambitious Solar-energy plans. On an average the daily power generation of this Solar plant is

450 KWh and average annual generation will be 1,50,000 Units. Besides Electric Power,

Poornima University will contribute in saving 25,500 barrel of crude oil or 3450 MT of CO2

or 43,000 trees annually. Energy-efficient Solar Power Plant built using concentrated PV

Modules also provides essential infrastructure to researcher of University to conduct research

things being learned, thus giving an industrial level experience to the budding young minds.

(xii) A Visit To Advertising Studio- Digitoonz Animation Studio, Noida

Students of BFA (Animation & VFX) visited Digitoonz Animation Studio which has its

global presence in Animation, Media & Entertainment, and Advertising industry. It is a full-

service Animation Production company specializing in the areas of producing TV Series in

Flash, 2D and CGI Animation for TV – Broadcast and feature film.

The 7 days Industrial Visit for MBA III Semester students was planned on the route of

Silvassa, Dadar & Nagar Haveli and the industries visited were Alok industries, ParleG,

Bombay Rayon Fashions, KRYFS, Sudhir Genset, Min Toy Pvt.Ltd and Nipra Packaging.

2. MBA I Year visited "KEC INTERNATIONAL LIMITED which is one of the the

largest Power Transmission Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Company

in the world. The objective of the visit was to make student aware about the activities

related to marketing, finance and human resource.

2. The three days Industrial Tour for BBA V & B.Com V Semester

students was planned in the route of Baddi- Chandigarh and six

industries were visited i.e. Birla Textiles, D.P Chocos (Cadbury),

Coca Cola, Meltonics Pvt. Ltd, Ellin Electronics and Macleods

Pharma.

3. Industrial visit to India’s biggest printing press Dainik Bhaskar located in Sitapura, Tonk

Road was organized for the students of B. Com I Year which is equipped with India’s

biggest printing machine with 8 towers of printing.

4. Another Industrial Visit for B.Com I Year was carried out at "Saras Dairy Plant" where

the main objective was to make student aware about how various processes & ISO standards,

that Jaipur Saras dairy is practicing.

5. The students of MBA II Year visited K.S. Ford Showroom at Jaipur to facilitate practical

learning and clarifying the concepts of Sales in competitive scenario.

Educational Tour- An educational tour was organized for MBA IV sem students to Baddi, Chandigarh and

Shimla where students visited companies working in various domains such as Textiles,

Pharmaceuticals, Electronics, FMCG and finally an interactive session was organized at

Himachal Pradesh University, Department of Management where students were imparted

knowledge to cope up with the challenges in the job market.

C. Curricular Industrial Training:

The academic curriculum provides for 30-60 days of Practical/ Industrial Training

during summer vacation after V semester for B.Tech. students, after II semester for

MBA students, after IV semester for BBA, BCA and B.Com. students and practical

training of complete VIII semester for B.Arch. students. The Placement and Training

Cell facilitates the practical training of students in Companies/Industries/Organizations

of National and International repute. To provide hands on experience and industry

exposure to students of B. Tech. / BCA / BBA / B. Com / MBA, 30/45/60 days

industrial training after Third (B. Tech.) / Second Year (BCA) is being planned as a part

of curriculum.

Celebrations

Department celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5th September by organizing two hours activities of

quiz contest and group discussion. Students appreciated the teachers for their efforts by

organizing a small get-together for the teacher and presented a documentary.

In remembrance of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, the department celebrated "Engineers

Day" on 14th September 2017. The theme of Engineers day was “Role of Engineers in a

Developing India’. Dr. D.P Sharma, EX ambassador for cloud computing offering (AI),IBM

USA , Consultant advisor External (IT), ILO was chief guest of celebration.

To pay tribute to The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Department celebrated Gandhi

Jayanti on 2nd October , 2017. Department organized Quiz contest on this occasion.

Alumni-Student Interaction

An alumni interaction was conducted on 05/9/2017, on the occasion of teacher’s day

celebration during 11-12pm. The alumni member Mr. Guljar Khan (ECE-2016 batch)

addressed the students about how to utilize the opportunities provided in the college for

building up a career in engineering field.

An alumni interaction was conducted for 2017 batch of students of EE department on

28/08/2017. On that occasion the alumni member Mr. Mahesh Chand Gurjar shared his

invaluable experiences with the students

Orientation Program

Before starting of every new session an orientation programme is organized to provide basic

introduction and the planning of the session. For III, V, VII Semester B.Tech students it was

organized on 15th- 21st July 2017 and for M.Tech students it was held on 26 August, 2017. The

departmental presentation was given by Mr. Ashish Raj. Various activities were organized

during these days including general knowledge Quiz, Essay writing competition (Know your

Branch) etc. Motivational documentaries were also shown to the students for their

enlightenment, after that registration of students by tutors followed by departmental activities

and zero lectures of subjects delivered by faculty members.

Department Initiatives

Projects- To promote research and development activities at Poornima University, project

based Non Conventional resources of energy including Solar, Wind is being completed.

Different clusters of selected M. Tech & B.Tech students were formed for the same.

Support Classes– To help the students who got back in last semester, support classes were

Problem Solving Classes– To help students to solve their difficulties regarding any subject

or topic, problem solving classes were organized by the department.

Attendance Evaluation– Attendance is filter according to the lectures which bifurcate mask

bunks occur in which particular lecture and initiate accordingly.

PMEPI (Poornima Mission for Becoming English Proficient Institution)-Lecture

delivery and information sharing in English language. Technical Vocabulary bank for

Students of EE/EEE have been circulated. Writing Skills and Communication Skill based

activities have been conducted.

Student forum-Four different student forums are being started in the department. Forums for

GATE/PSU, CRT (Campus Recruitment Training), Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship

are formed comprising of first-final year students.

Energy-Club

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Energy Club are initiating energy

audit of Poornima University, Jaipur. The aim of this initiative is to eliminate the wastage of

electricity in campus and to include suggestive measures to reduce consumption of electricity

in the campus and efficient use of solar power plant.

PU-Synergy

Pu-synergy was started in Poornima University in the month of January, 2016. The primary

goal of this club is to create awareness about renewable energy technologies, utilization and

research on 100 kWp solar photovoltaic plant, solar water heaters and organizing Events/

Seminar/ Expert talks/ visits related to clean energy technologies and finally support

sustainable development of the world.

A workshop on “Mathematical modeling and design optimization of Solar PV System” was

Research and Development Activities

The functioning of the Office of Advance Study & Research Committee (ASRC) has been

revamped and the first and for-most interest of the teaching fraternity is the opportunity and

encouragement to conduct research so ample opportunities are made available for the same.

The University provides incentives to the faculty to carryout research and publications. Academic leave for participation in seminar/conference/ workshop.

Access to online journals through DELNET. Statistical software SPSS,

Advanced Regression Analysis, Metlab, Lab view. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT),

Bangkok, Thailand establishes an understanding between AIT & PU for student exchange

programmes, holding of joint international conferences, workshops, seminars etc. An academic alliance with Hanyang University (HU), South Korea enables cooperation

between HU & PU for deriving mutual advantage in their pursuit of higher learning and

exposure to each other’s programs. The financial support (seed money) are provided to faculty members for organizing short

term courses/workshop/conference for benefit of in house as well outside faculty.

Details of Ph.D. Programmes and Registration

The University offers a full time/part time advanced programme leading to the Ph.D. degree

in the areas of Engineering & Technology/Sciences/Humanities & Social Sciences and

Management. Admission to these programmes is open to individuals from all disciplines,

twice a year, for the Autumn (July) and Spring (January) semesters. The admission process is

based on the past academic record, a research proposal, references and a personal interview.

Registration for Ph. D. is done only after satisfactory completion of Course work and valid

research topic selection. Upon admission students have to complete minimum course

requirements and clear a comprehensive examination before commencing with their doctoral

research under the guidance of a supervisor and research committee of the student concerned.

The University offers a variety of competitive scholarship and assistance to full-time Ph.D.

students.
