Whatto Expect
Pomegranate Health Systems is an acute hospital for mental and behavioral health disorders and a secure residential treatment care facility (RTC). Professional referrals are required for admission- from counselors, doctors, and children service professionals. Our treatment age range is 12 -17. We are licensed by The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Accredited by The Joint Commission, also a member of The Ohio Hospital Association and OACCA, The Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies. Here are some frequently asked questions:
Visitation Hours (including holidays/weekends)* Acute visitation is M-F from 4 pm until 7pm and Saturday & Sunday from 2-5pm. Visitations are up to 1 hour [If alternate arrangements are needed, parents/guardians will need to speak to the therapist.]* RTC visitation is 6-7:30pm for 20 minutes, 10-12:30pm and 5-7:30pm Saturday & Sunday for 1 hour.[If alternate arrangements are needed, parents/guardians will need to speak to the CPST.] -> Please do not bring in outside food or drink, cell phones, or valuables. We have beverages & snacks here.
Belongings (how many outfits to bring?)* Acute: 3 outfits; 1 PJs; 1 pair of shoes without laces; 1 pair of non-skid slippers* RTC: 7 outfits; 2 pair of shoes; belts are permitted during day only. No piercings. Hygiene products provided.
Average Length of Stay* Acute: 7-10 days + outpatient appointments/aftercare* RTC: Usually 4-6 months average; up to a year. [Lumin/Westwood Academy schooling is on site.]
Discharge* Acute: Discussed on daily basis in treatment team. Discharge date could be the same day of the treatment team decision.* RTC: Determined with the assistance of county or court caseworkers
Admission Process for RTC and Acute* Acute: 1) Hospitals or ERs can send referrals, labs, EKG results. 2) Direct admits can come from PCP-primary care physician, schools, or counselor’s office. Intake referral forms and consents can be found on the website. * RTC: Talk to the UR Manager (614) 223-1650 ext 339. She can discuss Medicaid and commercial insurance.
Treatment Team* Acute: Meets Daily except for Saturday and Sunday* RTC: Meets twice weekly; all patients are assessed monthly
Assigned Therapist , CPST & Nurse* Acute: patients are assigned to a clinician upon admission* RTC: patients are assigned a CPST case manager and therapist within 24 hours
Medication Changes/Initiations* Acute: Reviewed daily* RTC: Reviewed weekly
Medication Consent Process for both RTC and Acute* The CNP or MD will call parents regarding medication consent. All medication will be reviewed by theclinical team within 24 hours.
Phone Call Times* Acute: 6pm-7pm (Only patients who did not get a visit)* RTC : Each unit has assigned times. Please refer to the unit schedule or the Therapist/CPST.
Client’s Rights* Acute and RTC: please refer to the patient handbook. Both handbooks are also available online.
Gene-Sight® Testing by Assurex Health* This requires a doctor’s order. The test assesses which psychotropic meds or ADHD meds will work best with the patient’s metabolism. * Results are given within 72 hours after the Fed-Ex sample is picked up. * Consents for the test will be need to be signed by the parent/guardian.
