■ The UK Medicines and Healthcare productsRegulatory Agency (MHRA) has issued a warning aboutpotential risks with Polygonum multiflorum use afterthe agency received several suspected adverse drugreaction reports of liver disorders, including jaundiceand hepatitis. The agency advises members of thepublic who experience liver-disorder symptoms whiletaking Polygonum multiflorum-containing products tosee their doctor and to stop taking the productimmediately if a liver disorder is diagnosed.Polygonum multiflorum is also known by the Chinesename He Shou Wu (Heshouwu), and may be aningredient in products including, Shou Wu Pian, ShouWu Wan, and Shen Min. The MHRA says that thesafety of this product will continue to be reviewed.Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. MHRA raisesconcerns about the safety of Polygonum multiflorum.
