Stealing in Dwellings, from the Person, &c.

On the 5tli inst,, from George Lilly's dwelling, Tork,—a tea chest containing 108 articles of gold-plated jewelry, consisting of earrings, brooches, crosses, rings, and bracelets; also a quantity of clothing and a side of bacon, the property of George Lilly, The tea chest and a small portion of the plated jewelry was found in Lilly's well, on the 6th inst,—C.L 15. On the 3rd inst,, from J, H, Gregory's premises, CoraHne, Northam,—black and tan male sheep dog, answers to the name of Rover, the property of Henry Bolton. This dog was stolen by Joshua Ford, exp., lute 3784. Vide Warrants Issued.—C.L 1 6 . /

On or about the 18th ult., from Thomas Hibbert's premises, Wangaiuine,—German silver open-face watch, seconds hand missing, main spring broken, brass albert attached, the property of Thomas Hibbert. Eichard McGuire committed this robbery, ~ C L 17.y ^

On the 22nd inst., from William Gibbon's resi­dence, Stirling Street, Perth,—one pair of tweed trousers and one tweed vest, property of William Gibhoiis.—C.I. 32. ^

Some time during the night of the 20th inst., from John Gardiner's store, Hay Street, Perth,—pair dark tweed trousers, cheek pattern ; two pairs light tweed trousers; one dozen pairs ladies' cloth boots; one dozen pairs ladies' imitation kid boots; eight pairs youths' lace-up boots, with patent hook fastenings; six pairs blucher boots; one roll white flannel, 30 to 40 yards; one or two pieces winsey; 27 yards dark tweed double width; the property of John Gardiner. One towel was found near the corner of the shop, one roll red flannel and one piece of winsey were found near the door. An entry was effected by picking the lock of front door and shifting back the inside bolt.—C.I. 33. J

SAMUEL BROWN, who acts as a fence for Australian and New Zealand thieves, left Wellington by the steamer " H e r o " about the middle of September last for Sydney, believed for the purpose of collecting stolen i>roperty there and at Melbourne, and bring­ing it to this Colony for sale. Description—supposed English, a ship carpenter, 47 to SO years of age, Sft. 8Jn. high, thin spare build, sandy hair, bald on top of head, light sandy beard, whiskeis, and moustache, generally wears pilot cloth monkey jacket, dark cloth cap with plaid baud and close fitting peak, seafaring appearance. He was formerly employed on board the Government steamer " Hinemoa." y^
