This policy summary provides a brief description of this travel insurance from AXA PPP healthcare. It highlights the three different levels of cover that we offer.It does not contain the full terms and conditions which can be found in themembership handbook.

What is Standard European Cover?Standard European Cover offers you annual cover for medical and general travel riskswhilst travelling in Europe. The maximum period of time that may be spent overseasin the insured period is 65 days. The maximum length of any one overseas journey is25 days. The cover includes up to 17 days spent away in a winter sports resort withinthe insured period.

What is Comprehensive Worldwide Cover?Comprehensive Worldwide Cover offers you comprehensive annual cover formedical and general travel risks whilst travelling worldwide for business or pleasure.The maximum period of time that may be spent overseas in the insured period is183 days. The maximum length of any one overseas journey is 65 days. The coverincludes up to 17 days spent away in a winter sports resort within the insured period.

What is Luxury Worldwide Cover?Luxury Worldwide Cover offers you comprehensive annual cover for medical andgeneral travel risks whilst travelling worldwide for business or pleasure. The maximumperiod of time that may be spent overseas in the insured period is 183 days. The maximum length of any one overseas journey is 95 days. The cover includesup to 21 days spent away in a winter sports resort within the insured period.

What is Extended Trip upgrade?On the payment of an additional subscription prior to travelling, you can upgrade yourLuxury Worldwide Cover to provide cover for overseas journeys lasting longer than themaximum trip length allowed by the policy. This upgrade will extend the maximumlength of any one overseas journey to 183 days.

What is Adventure Sports upgrade?On the payment of an additional subscription prior to travelling, you can upgrade yourpolicy to provide cover for further sports activities, for example skiing off-piste. Furtherdetails of sports activities covered by this upgrade can be found in the membershiphandbook.

15. Piste closure following avalanche, lack of snow or Up to £20 per 24 hour periodnon-function of resort ski lifts in which the insuredmember is unable to ski

What are the main exclusions and limitations Where can I findof cover? more information?

There is no cover under section 1 – Medical benefit andsection 4 – Curtailment if the insured member is notmedically fit to travel. If the insured member is terminally ill (by which we meanhas a life expectancy of below one year at the start of theoverseas journey) we will not pay claims under section 1 – Medical benefit and section 4 – Curtailment causeddirectly or indirectly by that terminal illness.

Claims arising from an insured member’s failure toexercise all reasonable care to prevent accident, injury,illness, loss or damage.

Sports activities listed as being excluded in themembership handbook.

Treatment costs incurred as a result of engaging in, ortraining for, any sport for which you receive a salary ormonetary reimbursement, including grants or sponsorship(unless you receive travel costs only).

War and terrorist risks and travel against Foreign andCommonwealth Office advice.

Routine pregnancy and childbirth. However, we will pay for the treatment of a medical condition which is due to,and occurs during, pregnancy subject to all other benefitlimitations and exclusions on this travel policy.

Charges where you travel outside the United Kingdom toobtain treatment (whether or not that is the only reason)or travel against medical advice (including the publishedadvice of the Chief Medical Officer of the Department ofHealth of England).

Standard Travel Plan only – cover for dependants whentravelling independently of the policyholder.

What our Annual Travel Insurance does not cover

Benefits 1, 6 to 8, 10 to 12 and 15 to 18 are subject to an excess so you willhave to pay the first £50 per claim per person. This does not apply to benefit 1 ifthe claim is reduced by using a European Health Insurance Card. Where we do notpay the first amount of any claim, it cannot be claimed against any other insurancepolicy which the insured member may have with AXA PPP healthcare.

As with all insurance policies, there are instances when we cannot provide cover.We refer to these as exclusions and limitations. Below is a summary of the policiesmain exclusions and limitations.

As detailed in the ‘Main exclusions and limitations’ section of this policy summarythere is no cover under section 1 – Medical benefit and section 4 – Curtailment if theinsured member is not medically fit to travel.If the insured member is terminally ill (by which we mean has a life expectancy ofbelow one year at the start of the overseas journey) we will not pay claims undersection 1 – Medical benefit and section 4 – Curtailment caused directly or indirectlyby that terminal illness. Further details can be found in section 1.11 ‘Fitness to Travel’in the membership handbook.

How long will my cover last?This travel policy will be arranged for a year, subject to the time limits referred to inthe ‘General conditions’ section in the membership handbook.

What do I do if I want to make a claim?If you need to make a claim simply call our Travel Claims helpline on 0845 602 03 03.Full details of how to make a claim are included in the membership handbook.

How do I complain?We hope you never need to raise concerns about our service or any aspect of yourpolicy. However, if you do, please contact us and we will do our best to try and resolvethe issue. Further details on how to complain can be found in the ‘What should I do ifI have reason to complain’ section of the membership handbook. If following ourinvestigation, you remain dissatisfied, you may ask the Financial Ombudsman Serviceto review your complaint.

If you have a claim against AXA PPP healthcareIn the unlikely event that AXA PPP healthcare becomes insolvent and is unable to paythe benefits under your policy, you are protected by the Financial ServicesCompensation Scheme (the FSCS).

What if I change my mind?You have a 14 day cancellation period. During this period you have the right to cancelyour policy and have your subscription returned in line with the terms for cancellationat renewal, as detailed in the ‘Introduction, cover and eligibility’ section of yourmembership handbook. The cancellation period begins on the day your contract isagreed or on the day you received your full policy terms, if this is later, and will alsoapply from each renewal date.

If this policy has been purchased by your employer then only your employer is entitledto cancel the policy.

If your Annual Travel Insurance is automatically included as part of yourAXA PPP healthcare private healthcare insurance, then the details of your cancellationperiod are shown in the ‘Additional information’ section of your private healthcareinsurance membership handbook.
