5. Science without Borders - Leuven

6. Focus on “research” and “quality”

• Attract excellent doctoral students

• Attract excellent postdoctoral researchers

• Attract excellent students at Master’s level to become future

doctoral students

• Cooperation between research departments through “senior

researchers”

• Cooperation through “young Brazilian postdoc”

• Intensify existing cooperation

• Explore new cooperation opportunities

7. Focus on preferential partners

• Preferential partners on central level of KU Leuven

• Without excluding any individual top student or collaboration

• Two options for focussing cooperation:

o Two traditional partners: USP and UNESP

o More (how many?) top ten universities in Brazil we already

are cooperating with

7. Focus on top universities

University city

Universidade de Sao Paulo Sao Paulo

Universidade Estadual de Campinas Campinas Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro Rio de Janeiro

Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais Belo Horizonte

Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul Porto Alegre

Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina Florianópolis Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro Rio de Janeiro

Universidade Federal da Bahía Salvador

Universidade de Brasilia Brasilia

Universidade Estadual Paulista Sao Paulo

8. Actions to intensify a focussed

cooperation with Brazil

1. Get in touch with potential partners in Brazil

o Correspondence : how to distinguish?

o Activities in Brazil ?

2. Promote cooperation with Brazil

o Activities at KU Leuven?

o Stimulate cooperation in specific unexplored top domains

o Include Humanities and Social Sciences

o Additional funding?

3. Bring “good practices” into the spotlight

4. Facilitate access to useful information
