Welcome to our Black and White text -based walkthrough/FAQ. Black andWhitemust be the most anticipated games at the time of writing this and they,deservedly so, get called the best Pokemon games of all time. I know that alot of people also anticipated t he very long wait for these games, althoughit just feels like yesterday that DP was released.

This work you see here is a guide with hours of work put into it. We hope

So you're a first timer? Or a veteran wanting to refresh his memory? Seeknofurther! You came to the right section. In this section, we will explain toyou:

Do not expect any mechanics explained here. This section is not anindepthtext about Pokemon, this is a quick basic overlook of what a newcomer couldexpect.

At the time of writing this faq (Sept. 2010) we only had the Japaneseversion to work with. That's why we're going to label landmarks withdescriptive means instead of their actua l name (e.g. "Big Red Building" for"Prof Lab"). This will change when we get an English version.

We have an English version and are working our way through the walkthroughtomake sure nothing is left untranslated. If you see anything, don't hesitatetomail. (March 2011)

When the traditional w elcoming and naming screens are behind us, we canstart the game. Watch the protagonist talk to his friends. When you regaincontrol approach the present and click it to choose your starter!

After you picked your Pokemon you battle them both. No worries, you aregetting healed in between them both.

Bianca picks the Pokemon that is weak to yours. If you picked Snivy,she will pick Oshawott. If you picked Tepig, she'll have a Snivy. Andif you have a Oshawott, she'll have a Tepig.

Not that it matters in the fight, all you can choose is Tackle, which isa Normal Type Attack and as such does not benefit from an y of the threetypings.

Tackle away and you should win. If you lose, you might want to considerrestarting as you'll miss out on 500 Yen.

Win this battle and your room will be trashed. Cheren will heal yourPokemon. And challenge you for another bat tle, as if your room wasn't messyenough.

Cheren picks the Pokemon that yours is weak to. If you have Snivy, he'llhave Tepig. If you picked Tepig, he'll hve Oshawott. And if you have aOshawott, he will have a Snivy.

However, the facts remain as they were, there is no type advantage to beused at this stage yet. So Tackle away for victory. Again, if you lose,consider restarting as you can miss out on another 500 Yen. And if you wonboth, you'll have gained a level. Congratulations!

After having won (and yes, you should win), go downstairs and your momwill give you your Xtransreceiver. For more information on theXtransreceiversee the Xtransreceiver section. Exit your house.

Once outside you'll see Bianca runn ing off to the south. There isn'tanything else you can do here yet, so follow her to the house in thesouth east corner. Watch the scene unfold in front of you until Biancastormsout of the house. Leave the house and find her and cheren in the north wes tcorner of the town in front of a big red building (the Professor's Lab).Talk to them and you'll go inside.

There you'll find the professor and she'll start talking to you. Aftergiving you a Pokedex the professor leaves the Lab and you should followher outside. Outside your mom will give you a world map.

NOTE: From now on your Pokemon can be healed when you talk to your mom.

Go to the exit where you'll find Bianca and Cheren. When you approachthema scene will start. And you will arrive on...

When first arriving on this route, you'll meet up with the Professor,whereshe gives you a lesson on batlling and capturing Pokemon. After thebattle'sover she hands you 5 PokeBalls for you to catch and she leaves. Bianca andCheren discuss some stuff as well and they too leave you behind.

If your Pokemon get hurt, remember that your mom can heal them.

In the second patch of grass, there is a girl standing. Talk to her toget a free Potion.

Make your way up north until you see Cheren and Bianca standing. When youapproach Bianca she will ask you a question. Answer yes and you will get aphone call from the Professor. When the call is over Bianca and Cherenleaveyou behind. Follow them to get to...

Go to the PokeCenter to meet the Professor. She will take you insideand talk to you about the new and improved Centers. PokeCenters now include

PokeMarts as well! You have to talk to the lady behind the counter. She'llthen take you to the pc and then to the Mart section.

Use any of the facilities for as long as you like. When you exit therearetwo guys talking in front of the Center. Follow them to the left and jo inthecrowd as they watch the Team Plasma. After they finish their speech, N willchallenge you to a battle.

After your battle, heal up, buy some items, do what you want. One thingthat's pretty cool to check out is the house above the Center. You'll finda pianist and a drummer there. Talk to them to have them play along thetheme song.

As you arrive on this route, your mother gives you a phone call. Butwait!She's right behind you! Luckily she has a present for you: RunningShoes. To the south you'll see a big boulder, which you'll need Strengthfor.

Make your way through the Route battling and picking up Items as you go.

When you try to exit the route to the north, Bianca will stop you andchallenge you to a fight.

After the second trainer, there is a guy. Talk to him and answer "yes" tohis question and you will recei ve on of the "Monkey" Pokemon the gymleadersare using. You'll receive the one your starter is strong against.

If you picked Snivy, you'll receive Panpour.If you picked Tepig, you'll receive Pansage.If you picked Oshawott, you'll receive Pansear.

Return to Striaton City and take care of business. When you're done,enterthe building to the right of the Center:

As soon as you enter the gym, the traditional "Gym coach" will approachyou. He will give you a fresh water, which may come in handy.

The puzzle in this gym is rather simple. On the curtain you will see asymbol of a type: a flame for Fire, a droplet of water for Water and a leaffor Grass.

The intention is to step on the right circle. The right circle is the onethat has the symbol on it of the type that's strong against the one on thecurtain.

Now the special thing about this gym is the Leader's Pokemon. It dependson the type of your starter.

After the battle you receive the Trio Gym Badge, TM81 and you can useHM01,Cut, outside of battle.

Exit the gym and Fennel will approach you. You'll follow her to herhouse and she will give you HM01, Cut. How convenient! You can head back toRoute 2 to cut down that tree and get a Great Ball and a Super Potion.

Run past the trainers and find the tree. Cut it and try to enter thebuilding. Bell will stop you and head in first. When you try to app roachthedoor, you'll hear a Pokemon's cry. Head inside and you'll find the Pokemonyou heard earlier. Bianca and you will approach it, but it runs off. Whenapproaching it again, Team Plasma pops up from behind the corner and theywill challenge you.

No worries, it's not a double battle. After you beat them. Ghetsisappears.And he and the grunts leave. After Fennel appeared, the Pokemon leave aswell and they leave an item behind. Fennel takes that item along and runsback to the city to her laboratory.

Either explore some more or make your way back to the city to thelaboratoryand talk to Fennel to get a C -Gear.

Ahhh, Route 3. It brings you... The Daycare Center! Leave a Pokemonbehindand the Daycare Center raises it for you!

Note: In the house next to the Daycare Center is a lady who will heal youwhen you talk to her.

When you approach the first patch of grass, Cheren will stop you andchallenge you to a duel.

Finish this battle and Team Plasma comes running past you. After Cherenruns after them you have to follow him. You can't go south.

Continue west until you come across a cave. Talk to Cheren, answer "yes"and he'll run inside. Follow him.

Now go to the western m ost alley. Try to enter the Gym. Cheren will comeoutside and talk to you. He'll run off and the gym leader will follow him.Going to the second dock from the east now triggers a scene with Bianca.Follow that Plasma Grunt up north to the plaza with the fo untain. Go to thewestern road that leads south and you'll see the Leader standing there.Follow him south and find him in front of a building on the left side ofthe road talking to three grunts. Easy as ever. After everyone ran inside, follow them to see a scene withTeam Plasma. You'll receive a berry and there will be an item where Team

Plasma was. Pick it up to get an _UNKNOWNBALLTHING_.

That's all there is to do in this alley, so let's head to the alley eastofthis one. When you pass the blue garbage containers a sound will play. Amanwill talk to you and give you TM70. Enter the cafe to the right and talk tothe bartender to receive a free lemonade!

Up to the next alley! Take the alley east of the Pokemon Center. Enterthefirst building on the right and talk to the woman. She'll sh ow you apictureof a Zorua. Cross the street to the other building and talk to the young

womansitting on a chair. She massages your Pokemon. Go in the elevator and rideitto F11 to get TM44 from the Hiker.

Now head north to the plaza. The vending mah ines are here. Lemonades andSoda Pops are a cheaper way to heal than with potions, so it's not a badidea to stock up on a few drinks.

When you're done stocking up on drinks. Head north. On this road enterthebuilding on the right. The bald guy is the Name Rater. Ride the elevator toF11 and talking to the scientist let's you enter two words. The use of thisis yet unknown. Exit the building and cross the street to enter thesouthernbuilding on the right side. Talk to the guy in front of the elevator,answer"yes" and ride the elevator up to F47. The girl in the middle lower part ofthe room will give you TM45. Exit the building and enter the one north of

There's also a small sidequest you can do. It involves beating threedancers scattered throughout the town. After ebating the first one, answer"yes" to his question. The battles are initialized by talking to thedancersand answering "yes" to their question.

Now for the tour of the town. The building to the left of the PokemonCenter has online capacities, pick the third option and say "yes" if you

want to check it out.

Continueing to explore the west side of town, enter the house north ofthe Pokemon Center (the one near the water), talk to the blue haired girlto get HM04. Go upstairs and talk to the old lady to get Soothe Bell.

Cross the western bridge to the north and head to the west.

Try to exit the City to the west and Bianca stops you and drags you alongtothe Musical hall. You now have to dress up a Pokemon. It is more fun thanitsounds, trust me. Check our Musical Section for more information onmusicals.

Talk to the girls to the right of the desk to get TM49. Exit the hall an dwatch the scene.

Head back west and enter the westernmost building. Step on the teleportpad and arrive on a tennis field, here you'll find one trainer who gives2500Yen when defeated. Exit and head east.

Enter the next building and stepo on the teleport pad. Like on the tennisfield, you'll find a trainer here. Exit after collecting your 2500 Yen andhead south form the Musical.

Try to enter the big building and a girl will stop you and give you theBattle Recorder. This building is the Battle Subway. You can't firght atthispoint, so when you can, check out our Battle Subway section.

Head east of the building through the gate with the lights. Where youwillmeet N. He'll drag you onto the Ferris Wheel. When you get off you'll begreeted by Plasma Grunts and it appears N is in cahoots with Plasma!

Talk to the coach, he has Water. Go up and board the right shuttle. Itwill take you to a platform. There'll find Trainer #1. After you beat herstep on the glowing tile and you'll see the path changing. Hop onto theshuttle and let it take you to the ne xt platform.

There you'll find one more trainer (Trainer #2). After having dealt withhim, step on the glowing tile to call the shuttle. Hop in. But get pushedout by Trainer #3. Beat him and hop in the shuttle. And follow the ride tothe next platform.

Where you'll meet another glowing tile. If you don't know what to doknow:step on it and hop into the summoned shuttle. Let the dear lady get out ofthe shuttle and battle her. And let it take you to the final platform.

Push the crystal out of your way and continue north. When you reach thenext crystal push it out of your way as well and go up the stairs. Go rightand reach two crystals next to each other. Push the top one left and thebottom one down and carry on.

After the Professor and Bianca stop talking go south until you reach abridge. After being taken across, push the crystal down and carry on. Headdown the staircase.

When you come to the path split with the two guys, head left to return tothe entrance. Head right to find a doctor who can heal you after you beathim. Go north and find some Grunts.

Enter the cave and find Cheren again with Hodomoe's Gym Leader. FollowCheren. Walk the wooden edge south and enter the cave again. Follow thecorridor sputh and take the last corridor north and exit the cave.

Go north and enter the cave. When you reach a split, go south and throughthe door. Follow the corridor and exit the cave.

Go west and enter the cave. Take the second corridor north and head east

atthe top. Exit the cave. The trainer here is a doctor. Beat him to get ahealing point.

Head north and enter the first cave. Head north o n the firstintersection.Go through the door. Head south at the intersetion and exit the cave.

Buy some refreshments if you need some and head towards the eastern cave.Find Cheren and the grunts. After you regain control, head east and exitthecave.

Before you can enter the forest, you'll receive an old gateau. Enter theforest. Never mind the Grunt, make way to the tower and enter it.

Make your way across the room and try to head up the stairs. You willhear a sound. Go upstairs. Watch Cheren call you and leave. Go up and headright. Walk up the fallen pillars and head left to where Cheren was.

Leave the room and head up the spiralling stairs. A jumping puzzle!1. Jump down2. Take the bottom of the three jumps

Head up the stairs and go through the door. Walk past Cheren and the GymLeader and make your way to the staircase and through the door.
