Art Show 2014 By Patti Adams Did you attend the Art Show and Artist Reception Friday night November 14th? How about the Saturday event on November 15th? Many of our members and directors were there for both days and proclaimed it a rousing success. Nancy Phillips and Jackie Morgner co-chaired the event. Both artists in their own right, they enlisted some wonderful artists to display their work. For starters, Garret Goodwin’s Urban Tree was installed on Thursday the 13th and will stay in place for a full year or until purchased. We had stunning glass artists, several outstanding painters, extraordinary jewelry creators, and even a fabric artist. Attendees found much of the art to be irresistible and the artists sold many of their creations, donating 20% of their sales to the Assembly in addition to their entry fee. The Summer Januaries drew a small crowd around the stage Friday evening with their harmony, violin and guitar. Elsewhere in the Assembly neighbors and friends enjoyed catching up and chatting. Friday’s evening Coco Savvy brought samples of their unique chocolates that paired well with the wines being served. Kona Kai prepared hors d’ oeuvres on site, surrounded by eager patrons.

Saturday, the Membership committee chaired by Pam Fuchs and Hospitality by Dottie Laub provided refreshments for our guests. Many thanks to all who helped bring and serve and clean up over the two days. The Art Show is about friend raising as well as fundraising. Many people

stopped by who have not been at the Assembly in years, if ever. Our membership and rental activity are sure to increase due to the great exposure from the Art Show. The combination of the ticket sales and art sales netted the Assembly right around $3000.00! If you didn’t attend either day of the Art Show, we are very interested to know your thoughts on future events like this. Nancy and Jackie have worked since last March to make this year’s Art Show a success. It would have been more successful with more ticket sales and more attendance. We are counting on you, the member, to help us with both if we do the Art Show
