Our first meeting of 2013 was a lot of fun. Mona had prepped banners
waiting and several darling snowman patterns we could choose. The
weather cooperated with freezing (literally) temperatures. She also had
prizes for those who completed the project.
The Sandi Strecker Seminar was so much fun. Those not there really
missed an informative and enjoyable two days. I hope some, if not all,
who were there, will bring your finished pieces to the February meeting
for Show and Tell. Even if it isn’t a seminar project, it would be wonder-
ful if everyone would bring a painted piece to share.
I am really looking forward to the Paint-Ins and Seminars planned for the
year... Lots of great projects are coming up. Please support the chapter
and the teachers by attending and painting as often as you can.
Don’t forget to bring something for Ways & Means for your birthday.
Some of the mystery gifts are birthday contributions. Shirley and Emily
need your help in making the raffle bags interesting and something we all
would like to paint.
If you have not yet paid your dues, please do so as soon as possible so
you will not be dropped from the roster.
We need a Ventura County Fair Chairman and a Year End Raffle
Chairman. If you have not held an office or headed a committee in a
while (or ever), please step up. It is time for you to contribute to the
Poinsettia Painters. It is your chapter – help us to continue to grow.

Veggie Pizza
2 Pkgs Crescent Rolls
Lay out on a cookie sheet & pinch together to make
a sold crust. Use a large 19X12 cookie sheet
Bake at 350° 10-12 minutes
2 8oz cream cheese-softened
1 cup mayo
1 pkg ranch dressing
Mix with mixer & spread on cool crust. Cut crust
into serving pieces. It is easier to now.
Cut up any veggie of your choice. Cut into small
pieces.
I used :
4 green onions,
3 celery stalks
1 red bell pepper
1/2 yellow pepper
Broccoli Florets
Grated cheese
1 can black olives
Sprinkle on top

Just before the regular
business meeting.
My nephew’s wife Sandi is room mother
for her daughter’s first grade class and
needed to come up with a project for the
kids to do to take home to their parents for
Christmas. So she asked my sister Bar-
bara and I for help, we had the beautiful
centerpiece Marylou Heath designed and
made sitting on the table in front of us, so
we decided to see if we could shirk it
down for the kids to make. We made up
packages of the supplies for each child
and the kids had a ball. They decorated
their plastic ornament with a colored
sharpie pen and then arranged all the flow-
ers etc in the top of the ornament and they
all came out so cute. Thank you Marylou
for the beautiful inspiration for this class
project.

IRIS PAPER FOLDING IS BACK……

Yes, we will be doing a Heart Iris Paper
folding card at the February 11 meeting.
The card & folding paper will be provided.
You need to bring:
1. Tape. 1/2 “ or smaller
2. Scissors
3. Glue-dry stick type
4. Any rubber stamps that you might want to put on or in the card.
I will have some rubber stamps for the Valentine’s card, but you can hand write or
leave blank on the inside.
The cards above are samples of what the card will look like. The folding paper is
slightly different. If you have light weight, thin paper you think would work, bring it &
we will figure out if it will work. Please keep in mind that it must not be card stock.

The club is very excited to welcome Della to Bakersfield for a 2 day painting seminar and her trunk show. Della will be bringing her trailer full of her merchandise and will be having a mini convention at this time too. So everyone will have an opportunity to buy to their hearts content.
