WELCOME MESSAGE
ISDE President
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 15th World Congress of the ISDE in Singapore. During the two years since the very successful ISDE Vancouver Congress, interactions among the various specialties involved in our Society have dramatically increased. It is the best time to be involved in the ISDE with all of the initiatives that are now bringing together surgeons, gastroenterologists, pathologists, and oncologists who are interested in the esophagus.
Our annual meeting continues to grow with the most abstracts ever submitted. The fantastic program that has been assembled through the tireless efforts of Professor’s Ho and Van Lanschot promises one of the best ISDE Congresses ever.
This is an outstanding meeting with fantastic speakers and sessions. I hope you all will find it as useful and educational as our past Congresses. I look forward to seeing you at the sessions.
Kenneth K. WangISDE President
Welcome to Singapore! In this dynamic environment East and West will meet to discuss major developments in the management of benign and malignant esophageal disorders and to present novel scientific insight in pathogenesis and etiology.
With all sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic innovations there is a still growing need for multidisciplinarity. The 15th World Congress of the ISDE will focus on a high level of exchange and understanding between disciplines and continents.
The Japanese Esophageal Society (JES), the Chinese and European Chapters (CSDE and ESDE) as well as the International Network of Esophageal Atresia (INoEA) will actively participate and organize their own sessions. Various associated organizations, including ANZGOSA, APSDE, ASCVTS, ISES and MUGIS have been invited to have their scientific input as well.
Moreover, we are pleased to welcome a large representation from the Chinese Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (CSDE) which has recently been formally founded and officially affiliated to the ISDE.
The Congress will provide the ideal forum to stimulate ideas and to establish collaborations.
