Minutes of OCM

Meeting on

September 25, 2013

See, Minutes, page 5

P resident Louis Capurso opened the OCM meeting at 7:00pm with the Pledge of Alle-

giance. There were approximately 33 members present.

The minutes for the August 28th meeting were approved as written in the newsletter. It was

noted that the membership stands at 132 members. Joseph Acquisto was not present to read the

treasurer’s report.

It is with great sadness we must report the passing of Pat Armistead. He was and always will

be a great friend and will be missed by many.

OLD BUSINESS

Jam Rabii and Gil Schwalb met with, Dan Burke, the Jackson township engineer to discuss

the township’s plans for Legler and to make sure they are aware of the club’s existence at this

site. The township has authorized a firm to begin preliminary engineering services for the de-

sign phase of the solar farm at Legler. The site maps that Mr. Burke is preparing to send to this

firm clearly shows and identifies our runway. He said there is no timeline as yet and, in his

opinion, there will be no problem with us using the area if the solar farm plan goes forward.

The plan is intended to be limited in size to allow the generated power to be transported to a

substation off site. Mr. Burke stated that the club’s presence will become a point of discussion

as the project unfolds. The club will be kept informed and will have opportunities to meet with

the people who will potentially construct the solar farm should the plan become a reality.

FIELD REPORT

The gate is still being left opened, but it was reported that the township lock was also not

locked. The club will contact the township about this matter.

The holes in the green fence by the flight line will be repaired for the upcoming 3D event.

SAFETY REPORT

Members are reminded that planes must stay 10-20 feet from the flight line fence. There is no

smoking in the pit area.

EVENTS COMMITTEE

The 2013 family picnic was a great success, and all had fun. Thanks to all that came and es-

pecially to all the volunteers whose work helped to make it a success.

NEW BUSINESS

A motion was made, seconded and approved to create a committee to look into finding anoth-

er possible flying site in the event we lose our site due to the installation of a solar farm. The

members are Vince Scatuccio, Jam Rabii and Mike Cook.

The president appointed Carl Parducci and Hob Davis to sit on the nominating committee for

the upcoming election of officers for 2014. The committee asked the membership to submit

nominations in writing until the close of nominations at the end of the October meeting. Ballots

will be mailed out in November, if needed. The election will be held at the regular December

meeting. Neither the current President, Louis Capurso or the current Corresponding Secretary,

Jam Rabii will be running for office in 2014. During the meeting Mike Fevola submitted a

slate of candidates to the nominating committee for five (5) of the positions: Ed Hollema for

President, Tony Riccio for Vice President, Joe Acquisto for Treasurer, Bill Martin for Corre-

sponding Secretary and Tom Moore for Recording Secretary. No more nominations were sub-

mitted at this meeting. The position of Safety Officer is open.

The club would like to thank Jim Mitchell for the hard work he did cleaning up the entrance

road. The road looks great.

AMA rules state that all planes must have either your name or AMA number on the plane.

In Memoriam

Patrick Armistead

P atrick Armistead passed away last week

after a long battle with cancer. There

was a memorial buffet luncheon on Sunday,

September 29th at La Bove Grande in Lake-

hurst. Family and friends attended and had an

opportunity to share their fond memories of

Pat.

Pat was a dear friend and fellow club mem-

ber who had been instrumental in arranging

for some of the work that was done to improve

the runway at Wiskow Field.
