Dr Chris O’Donnell is a medicalgraduate of the University ofMelbourne, working as a clinicalradiologist with an interest in MRI. He has since applied his expertisein cross-sectional imaging to thedeceased. Following installation ofa CT scanner in the mortuary of theVictorian Institute of ForensicMedicine in 2005, well over 60,000deceased persons have beenscanned. The success of these imagingtechniques in death investigationhas encouraged Victorianlegislators to enshrine medicalimaging in the 2008 Coroners Act. Dr O’Donnell continues to exploreapplications of CT in the deceasedand its use in expert evidence.
