Tips for better searchingUse * as a term expander after search term(s) when using either Search or

Subject,Text, State search options.

- For example, a search for rodent* will look for documents containing rodent or rodents.

-Also, a search for pollut* will look for documents containing pollution, pollutants, etc.

Tips for better searching

Searching For Phrases: “ ” To search for a particular phrase, simply put it in quotes.

For example, by typing “wear and tear” or “surface water” the computer will look for the words together as a phrase.

A quick way to retrieve most of PLRB’s state-by-state materials is to type the word chart in the Subject field.

Tips for better searching And & Or  

      

To look at the search terms as alternatives to each other, type an “or” between those terms. For example, a search for skunk OR rodent will pull up documents containing either term or both terms. (You don’t have to put “and” or “or” in all caps.)

You can put several terms in the same search field. By typing “and” or just leaving a blank space between your search terms, your search will retrieve only documents containing all of the typed terms. For example, a search for skunk AND Rodent will only pull up documents containing BOTH terms.

If you cannot locate the information you need in our database:- click on the yellow “Coverage Research” tab on the PLRB homepage, -then click on “Ask Coverage Question” on the yellow bar across the top of the screen.
