Pleven The earliest traces of human settlement in the area dated from the 5th
millennium BC, the Neolithic. After being a Roman province and well-
developed stronghold the city became a major battle scene during
the Russian-Turkish War of 1877–1878.

known as Pleven Panorama depicts the
events of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877–
78, specifically the five-month Siege of
Pleven which made the city internationally
famous and which contributed to
the Liberation of Bulgaria after five centuries
of Ottoman rule.
Pleven Regional Historical Museum
The Museum is founded in 1953. It is one of
the largest museums in Bulgaria. situated in
a two-story edifice it is a monument of
culture of national importance and has an
area of 7,000 m². Its main stock includes
over 180,000 units and the museum library
houses over 10,000 volumes of scientific
literature and periodicals.
Mausoleum A historical monument which
commemorates the heroic deeds of
Russian and Romanian soldiers
during the Russian-Turkish War in
1878.
Kaylaka Park A large park and protected area. The park is
spread over 10 km² and is surrounded by
sheer cliffs that suggest favourable
conditions for rock climbing. The ruins of
the Roman fortress of Storgosia are located
in Kaylaka, as well as ponds and reservoirs
with boats and pedalos, a swimming pool,
hotels, cafés, restaurants, discothèques and
playgrounds.

Foreign language school of Pleven is a heir of one of the first ten schools in Bulgaria.
Founded by the wealthy teacher Emanuil Vaskidovich in the school year 1849/1850.
Foreign language school of

in foreign language education.
The studied languages are:
English, German, French,
Spanish and Russian.
