Chrissy Franklin, 26 of Cotton Tree and her fiancé Nathan

Moon were gifted the very first My Wedding Wish wedding, hosted in December 2013 in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

Chrissy suffered from Adenocarcinoma of the bowel and metastasis in the liver. Diagnosed at 21 weeks pregnant with the couple’s second child, she was advised that she would not survive the pregnancy without immediately starting chemotherapy. A caesarean

section was booked for 36 weeks, but tragically their son passed away in-utero at 35

weeks. The couple’s other son, 14 month old Blair, had feeding, respiratory and development problems which required ongoing medical intervention.

Although Chrissy had chemotherapy on a fortnightly basis, her condition was terminal with doctors giving her just 2-3 years to live. When told they had been gifted with a wedding, Chrissy and Nathan were ecstatic. Nathan added that, “Now she’ll have something positive to direct her energies to.”

In December 2013, Nathan and Chrissy tied the knot in a love filled ceremony with their friends and family watching on. In August 2015, after almost two years of happy marriage, Mrs Chrissy Moon nee Franklin passed away cradled in her husband’s arms.
