    Jay Strongwater (Atlanta) is a conscientious and thoroughly prepared attorney. Thirty years as a criminal defense attorney has taught him that there is no substi-tute for experience and hard work. He also believes that the respect and trust he has with judges, prosecutors and fellow defense attorneys benefit the client. Jay has experience in defending clients in all phases of the criminal process. He has handled cases of every kind in federal courts primarily in GA but also throughout the

    US. Jay is often quoted in the media on pending high profile cases.

    Bernard Brody (Atlanta) is an accomplished Georgia trial lawyer with a successful track record of resolving complex criminal cases. He has particularly distinguished himself with his ability to defend and dispose of some of the most difficult sex offense cases in Georgia. He has been recognized by Georgia Trend Magazine as one of Georgia’s Legal Elite and by Atlanta Magazine as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for his work in the courtroom and his tireless work

    ethic that has led to countless dismissals of cases prior to trial. Bernard has spoken on topics including Sex Offense Allegations, Computer Crimes, and Federal Asset Forfeiture.

    Watani Tyehimba (Decatur) is a Certified Protection Professional and a Board Certified Criminal Defense Investigator. He is President and CEO of (TSI) Tye-himba Services, Inc., which specializes in criminal defense, mitigation and post-conviction investigations in complex high profile capital cases. He is a fire-arms and self-defense instructor specializing in issues regarding the use of force, and has qualified and testified as an expert witness on firearms forensic evi-

    dence, and reconstructive aspects of crime scenes, and shooting incidents.

    Susan Miller (Atlanta) is a staff investigator with the Federal Defender Program in the Northern District of GA. She joined the Federal Defender Program in August 1981 and was a licensed private investigator from 1995 to early 1997. As a staff investigator, Susan works on all types of Federal Criminal Cases. Susan also volunteers for the Georgia Innocence Project, sitting on a committee that determines which cases the GIP should pursue.

    William R. Montross, Jr. (Atlanta) is a senior capital attorney at the Southern Center for Human Rights. He represents individuals in GA and AL charged or convicted of capital offenses at trial, on direct appeal, and in the post conviction process, consults with lawyers throughout the US on capital cases, and works with other organiza-tions to end the use of the death penalty. He is a faculty member at Gideon’s Promise, mentoring young public defenders in the Deep South.

    McCracken Poston (Ringgold) was select-ed to the “2006 Georgia Super Lawyers” class, McCracken Poston was named “2004 Newsmaker of the Year” by the Fulton County Daily Report, and selected to Georgia Trend’s “The Legal Elite: Georgia’s Most Effective Lawyers” in 2005. He has an “AV” Peer Review Rating in Martindale-Hub-bell. McCracken Poston is a charter Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. In 2007, McCrack-

    en Poston was selected by the American Trial Lawyers Association as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the State of Georgia.

    GACDL Past President Jack Martin (Atlan-ta) is devoted to the defense of felony criminal cases, including capital cases, in federal and state courts. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since its inception in 1987. Among his more newsworthy clients are Jamil Al-Amin (the former H. Rapp Brown), Richard Jewell. and for-mer United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young. He has represented over thirty capital defendants.

    He has taught Criminal Procedure I and II as an adjunct professor at The Georgia State University College of Law.

    Brad Gardner (Atlanta) is a Senior Staff Attorney for the Georgia Capital Defender, a Division of the Georgia Public Defender Standards Council. Before returning to the Capital Defender Office in 2010, he managed his own law office while serving as an As-sociate Magistrate Court Judge in Clayton County, Georgia. Following law school, Brad joined the law office of Dwight Thomas where he tried criminal cases throughout the State of Georgia and in federal

    court, acting as lead or co-counsel in over twenty death penalty cases.

    Kelly Branham (Nashville, TN) is the National Victim Outreach Coordinator for the Office of the Federal Defender, Middle District of TN. An attorney for 25 years, she coordinates victim outreach in federal cases nationwide. Kelly speaks nationally and internationally to promote attorney awareness of the importance of victim outreach. She has worked on capital cases throughout the country in both state and federal proceedings and at all levels of the judicial process.

    Marissa McCall Dodson (Atlanta) is the Lead Coming Home Attorney and Staff Attorney at the Georgia Justice Project. As an Equal Justice Works fellow, she developed the Coming Home Program, a three-tiered program addressing the barriers to reentry suffered by those with a record of arrest or conviction. Marissa also represents indigent individuals who have been charged with felony and misdemeanor offenses. Most recently, Marissa

    drafted language for the recent revisions to Georgia's expungement statute. The legislation passed and is effective on July 1, 2013.
