TAXI’s New Website is Finally Here!

Dear Passengers,

We’ve finally rolled out the new TAXI website. Saying it was long overdue is an understatement. But TAXI has always been, and will always

be a music company first and foremost. Our members’ success is the priority around these hallowed halls.

While other companies built slick websites, we invested our time and resources in bringing you the best possible opportunities for your music.

The number of TAXI members who have signed deals and earned income because of their TAXI memberships is virtually uncountable after 25

years.

Yes, that’s how long we’ve been bringing you about 100 real opportunities per month for your music – 25 years! We’ve changed a lot of lives

during those years.

Some of our members have been able to quit their day jobs because of TAXI. Some of our members earn six-figure incomes because of

connections made and relationships built through TAXI. Some of our members say stuff like this about us in very public places…

Don't Consider Giving Up on Taxi

Postby randonpurcell » Wed Jan 11, 2017 9:09 am

So, I talk to people all the time who debate whether they should join (or renew) their Taxi membership. Look, I get it. The business can be

disheartening, to say the least.

BUT...

LISTEN to what you read in the [TAXI] forums and hear on Taxi TV. Listen to the advice that is so abundant. Go to the [TAXI] Rally and

listen to the lectures. This stuff works, trust me! And above all, listen to the feedback on your returned submissions. It is GOLD!

In 2014 - I had written maybe 3 instrumental cues and a ton of songs that were not really going anywhere. I started focusing on a few things

based on advice from the forums, feedback from submissions, etc. I refocused and started writing -- a lot!

By the end of 2016, I had written over 150 instrumental cues (from hybrid orchestral to minimal retro wave). I have had 130+ of those cues

signed to various libraries around the world (12 of them, in fact). 10 of these libraries came directly from Taxi listings! And best of all, I have a

recurring buyout-deal with a library that keeps ordering albums. I wrote 4 10-track albums in 2016 just for this one library that does buyout

deals.

So, the end result is that I made more money off my music in 2016 than the previous 10 years combined.

And let's talk about the long game we always hear about. I'm JUST NOW starting to see a lot of the TV placements showing up from early 2016

and even late 2015. As it turns out, I've got 19 TV placements on 8 different series - and EVERY ONE of those is from libraries I hooked up

with via Taxi. I imagine in 2017 and later I'll see a lot more as these buyout albums start showing up on my ASCAP statements as well.

Bottom line - don't give up. Keep submitting. Keep writing. Submit often, embrace rejection and learn from it. And for God's sake, DO NOT

cancel your Taxi membership. It is the vehicle that will get you where you want to go, as long as you listen to the advice of the driver. –

Randon, I couldn't have said it any better! Taxi is amazing. Without them, I'd probably still be working corporate America. But because of them

I'm a full-time composer. There's nobody else that I can credit that to other than Taxi. My work and dedication would have been futile without

Taxi, because I wouldn't have known what to do or where to go with my music.

Keep up the great work, man. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

– Matthew C. Vander Boegh

Thank You Randon and Matt!

And thanks to all of you who have been patiently waiting for the new website! We didn’t give up either.

We’re doing the site “remodel” in stages. You’ll still bump into some of the old pages here and there, but little by little they’re giving way to

our new look and functionality.

The Most Exciting Change!

And the best part about the new website is that it looks great and works well on smart phones and tablets! Yes, TAXI.com is officially,

“responsive.” Check it out on your computer first, and then on your phone or tablet. It’s cool.

And so are our members.

Talk to you soon,

Michael

P.S. Don’t forget to check out the brand new batch of 35 Industry Listings!

P.P.S. Thanks to Adam Giacopuzzi at Guido Media for his awesome work on the site!

****************************************************************************************************************

PLEASE NOTE! If you are submitting by mail (ground submissions) and sending in a CD, please enclose a S.A.S.E. (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope) if you would like a

response. Thank you!

Gospel Listings

NEW LISTING - VINTAGE RECORDINGS of ORIGINAL GOSPEL SONGS recorded in any year prior to 2005 are needed by an A-List Film and TV Music

Publisher. Solo Male, Solo Female, and Group Vocals in All Tempos will work for this request. If you’ve got old, original Gospel recordings that were recorded prior to 2005, please keep reading! The older your recordings are, the better they’ll like them.

Here are some references they gave us that might help you get an idea of the range of what could work for this request:

“Leave You in the Hands of the Lord” by the Five Blind Boys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHVtQBcbb_U

"Try Me One More Time" by Gospel Baptist Church Youth Choir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_4zV_Z3jAQ

“Like a Ship Without a Sail” by the Youth for Christ Choir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lypO8pt_8NQ

The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! Many TAXI members have been signed by this publisher with nothing

more than good demo recordings! They’re much more interested finding music that sounds authentic to the time period than worrying about pristine recordings.

Good demos and master recordings are all of interest to this company,

This Publisher is the hot, go-to company for a long list of extremely popular TV shows and big Feature Films when they need music that is authentically from a particular time period. The Publisher pays you an upfront fee for the master and composition rights. You’ll keep the Writer’s share of the Publishing and make

applicable income through your P.R.O.

This company often averages several placements per week, and many of those are TAXI members who’ve been signed with this company because they submitted

to a listing like this! Dozens of TAXI members have signed buy out, cash-up-front deals with this company. Several have even received up front checks for

$10,000 - $15,000 (or more!) Deal sizes and buyout amounts vary depending on the quantity and quality of the songs signed by the Publisher.

They DO NOT want material that was recently recorded and made to sound old. They can only use AUTHENTIC, ORIGINAL, VINTAGE RECORINDGS, as

long as the sound quality is reasonably good. This is a golden opportunity to make money with music you might have thought had no hope in today’s market! Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. Please include lyrics. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later

than 11:59PM (PST), on Sunday, February 12th, 2017. TAXI #S170212VR

NOTE: Songs with Lyrics and/or Instrumentals can both work for this pitch! If you submit Songs, the lyrics can be in any language. There are a couple of

examples below that are sung in French, but you do NOT have to submit songs with only French lyrics. They need music that can range from Jazzy “Spy Movie”

music to what would have played in clubs where they had go-go dancers with mini skirts dancing in cages. Here are some references that might help you get an idea of the range of what could work for this request:

“L’anamour” by Serge Gainsbourg:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjpDtcHS7Sg

The recording quality is not expected to be on par with today’s broadcast quality! They only want original compositions and old recordings done in the

1960s!

What music would you expect to hear as a cool, 1960’s era spy cruises up Pacific Coast Highway with a blonde bombshell next to him in his awesome sports car?

Is the lady wearing a headscarf and rhinestone covered sunglasses? You’ve got the idea! Please submit Songs and/or Instrumental Cues that are bouncy, lounge-y,

and convey a fun, campy, retro-Jazzy, old school vibe.

Instrumental Listing GUITAR-based (Acoustic and/or Electric) POP/ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed for $250 Buyouts by a Media Giant’s In-House Music Library for

placements in TV shows and online media. On top of the buyout fee, you will also keep 100% of the Writer’s share of the publishing and make applicable

performance income. Please listen to the references below to get an idea of the range of what could work for this pitch:

“Photograph” by Ed Sheeran: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSDgHBxUbVQ

“Last Friday Night” by Katy Perry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlyXNRrsk4A

“We Don’t Talk Anymore” by Charlie Puth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AtDnEC4zak

Although the references have vocals, this request is for instrumentals only.

Please submit contemporary sounding Instrumental Cues that have a primarily guitar-focused approach. Your production can range from a Singer/Songwriter sound to a more Top-40 style. Your submissions should feature a central melodic idea and build momentum by adding and subtracting different elements to add

dynamics and interest as your Cues progress. While you can have some MIDI-Based electronic elements in your production, incorporating some great (actual)

guitar parts will help you a lot for this pitch.

Please submit Cues that are approximately 90 seconds in length. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings and easy edit points would be best for this pitch! Broadcast

quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way shape of form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Exclusive, In-House Library will pay an initial buyout fee of $250 for 100% of the Composition and Master rights. On top of the per track fee, you will also keep 100% of the Writer’s share of the publishing and make applicable performance income. This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the music you submit

for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Please submit 1-3 Instrumentals Cues Online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Sunday, January 22nd, 2017. TAXI #S170122GB

Instrumental Listing (continued) ADULT CONTEMPORARY INSTRUMENTALS are needed for a $1,500, NON-EXCLUSIVE Placement in a Radio Commercial for a Major Bank. Please

submit commercial-friendly, Down-to-Mid-Tempo Instrumentals that would generally be in the style and vibe of these references:

“Unfaithful” by Rhianna: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rp4UwPZfRis

“Hello” by Adele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQHsXMglC9A

“Chandelier” by Sia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vjPBrBU-TM

Although the references above have vocals, this pitch is for instrumentals only.

Please submit well-crafted Instrumentals that are compelling from start to finish, with instrumentation that’s typically heard in a radio-friendly Adult Contemporary song. Your instrumentation should use some natural/real/organic instruments. However, if you sample libraries or virtual instruments, please be

sure that they sound incredibly natural and real. Nothing stiff or obviously MIDI-driven will work for this pitch.

TAXI Tip: About half of Adult Contemporary songs are about relationships that went down to the drain. Those songs are often in minor keys and sound negative

or somewhat depressing. Because this Instrumental is needed for a Radio Commercial, we’d suggest going with tracks that sound positive and/or emotionally uplifting. This piece is probably needed for a “retirement” style commercial for the bank, so try to imagine what would sound good under a voiceover asking if

you’ve got your retirement covered. A/C that would appeal to a fifty-something audience/demographic is probably a good bet!

Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Do not copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a

general guide for tempo, tone and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are finish.

The estimated licensing fee will be $1,500 per track. No publishing splits! You will keep ownership of 100% of the Publishing and Master rights. You must

own or control your Master and Copyright to submit to this pitch. Please submit one to three Instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on

a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Wednesday, Tuesday 17th, 2017. TAXI #Y170117AC

Please submit original Instrumental Cues with an authentic Retro Sound and feel. Your instrumentation should use early, classic-sounding synths, pads, and leads

that are reminiscent of the 1980s and 1990s electronic wave. Drums with tons of reverb will also help your Cue emulate that retro vibe this Music Supervisor is

after. Recent recordings that sound retro will work for this, and if you’ve got any original vintage pieces that actually date back to that era, this Supervisor is likely

to be all over it!

All submissions should be at least 2 minutes long, with good edit points and buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way,

NEW LISTING - DARK, MOODY INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed for a bunch of $1,500, Direct-to-Music Supervisor, NON-Exclusive placements in a

new Sci-Fi Series done by the same producers as the hit TV show, Mr. Robot. They’re looking for gloomy, Down-to-Mid Tempo Instrumental Cues that could be

“High For This” by The Weeknd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sX9DgavXiN4

Although the references have vocals in them, this Music Supervisor needs Instrumentals only for this pitch.

Give them dark, ominous Instrumental Cues that deliver a gloomy, menacing overall vibe, with engaging beats, and unique electronic and/or live instrumentation.

Please stick to a singular motif throughout your Cue to keep your submission emotionally and melodically consistent from beginning to end. One scene – one

mood! As always, please avoid anything overly frenetic that could be a distraction from dialog. This request is much more about mood than it is winning Composer of the Year ;-)

All submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length, with easy edit points and buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for feel, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

Although some of the references have vocals, please submit Instrumental Cues only for this pitch. Give them fresh, Dubstep Cues that have plenty of unique

and current-sounding electronic elements, big drops, rhythmic stutter parts, and tons of “ear candy.” Your submissions should use creative, modern-sounding production techniques, with very contemporary Electronic instrumentation. Be sure to avoid anything that’s overly frenetic because it might compete too much

with dialog or a voiceover. We know that might be somewhat difficult with Dubstep, but try to imagine your submission playing under dialog. If you think it might be too busy and distracting, you might want to re-mix it or submit another composition.

Rock Listings

NEW LISTING - COMPELLING COVER SONGS with an INDIE ROCK approach and Male and/or Female Vocals are needed by a BIG Music Licensing Company that has tons placements in TV and Films. They’re looking for compelling Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that you’d expect to find on a playlist with

covers like (but not limited to) the references below:

“Stand By Me” by Ki:Theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_MwX1hlMls

“Smells Like Teen Spirit” by The Gallows Trailer Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-nkRX4FQEc

“Dear God (XTC Cover)” by Lawless feat. Sydney Wayser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEbFzKMcGls

“Heart Shaped Box (Nirvana Cover)” by Lana Del Rey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZIliIa5_bY

“Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Cover)” by LORDE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaVA6sgOpws

Please submit edgy Cover Songs that have a haunting, moody vibe and a vocal performance that’s well-suited for the types of Covers that get used quite often in Film Trailers these days. Your productions can range from stripped-down versions that might only be a guitar/vocal, piano/vocal, ukulele/vocal, or a band-sized

ensemble, or a full orchestral version. Any acoustic instruments you use should sound real and organic, not synth-y or obviously quantized.

Sticking to the song’s original melody and lyrics is the best way to go. If you stray too far away from the original melody or lyric, your cover may not be as

appealing. Using a different tempo is totally okay! We’ve heard killer versions of songs that used to be fast, Punk songs that were slowed way down and covered

on ukulele, and they were super moody and incredibly cool!

Your songs should be full-length, in the 3 to 4 minute ballpark. Good edit points and Non-Faded/Buttoned endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy or

rip off the referenced songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, with a 50/50 split on applicable sync fees. You must own or control your Master recording (only). Don’t forget, they are ONLY looking for Covers Songs. Since this is an EXCLUSIVE deal, please be sure the material you submit for this pitch is NOT already signed with any

other Libraries or Catalogs. Please submit one to three Cover Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by a TAXI screener

handpicked by the Publisher and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST), on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017. TAXI #S170208CC

Singer/Songwriter Listings (continued)

NEW LISTING - MAINSTREAM SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS with a Pop/Top 40 influences and Male, Female, or Both Vocals are needed by a Major Record Label A&R Executive for a Duo whose star is quickly rising. We recently ran this opportunity as TAXI Listing #Y170120SS, and the A&R Exec wants to

hear more material because they still haven’t found what they need! If you made a submission to TAXI Listing #Y170120SS, please send different material this

time around. This Duo’s last single got 250,000 streams in its first week, and has since had over a million streams worldwide. Please submit Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be heard on the same playlist as (but not limited to) songs like these:

“Marvin Gaye” Charlie Puth ft. Meghan Trainor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igNVdlXhKcI

“Mercy” by Shawn Mendes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkGVmN68ByU

“Feels” by Kiiara: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6US7RN74D0k

TAXI Tip: The Singer/Songwriter genre in today’s market isn’t often like the strummy, Singer/Songwriter style of past decades. Today’s acts are more likely to

release songs with innovative rhythmic patterns, cool synth/keyboard sounds, modern melodies, emotion-driven lyrics, and a vocal delivery that is best

demonstrated by listening to the range of what’s going on in the references.

Lush reverbs and smooth synth pads are a good idea if you’re going to pitch a fully produced song. You can also pitch keyboard/vocal or guitar/vocal demos, but

the style of those stripped-down versions still has to reflect the modern aesthetic, not the James Taylor era!

Infectious melodies with instantly memorable hooks, solid song-structure, and a huge chorus that smacks them in the face, will help convince them your song

needs to be on their record. Plenty of contrast between the verses and the chorus is your ticket to the short list for this request.

TAXI Tip 2: This Duo has gone a little left of center in the past. The label is trying to find a happy medium between innovative and mainstream for this record,
