Industrial shed

• The unit consisted of 3 floor with a height of around 10 ft of each floor.

• The top floor has a metallic shed made of asbestos mounted on a triple Howe truss structures.

Structure

• The truss is supported by RCC pillars of the extreme corners of the truss.

• The 3 floors are built in accordance with the framed structure having columns of pillars and beams that interconnect these columns ,thus acting as a supporting structure.

Ventilation

• The places requiring more ventilation were fusing ,washing and ironing section.

• These departments or sections were placed in the industry which had large windows and ventilators to exhaust the excess heat.

• Windows were 20% of the floor area.

Lighting

• The garment industry requires a lot of lighting.

• The places near to walls have huge windows providing lighting.

• Huge number of tube light attachments are provided for artificial lighting(100) .

• The illumination required in the sewing department is higher due to intricate requirements of lighting.

• Lighting in fabric store was at a higher distance as it did not require any processing.

• The lighting in the spreading and cutting department was around 2 mt. above the table as high lighting was required during cutting.

• The lighting required in the sewing was highest as sewing required stitching at complex places and it was around 2 ft. above the table height.

Flow pattern

• The fabric comes in truck and is received at the main gate.

• After that it is sent to the fabric store from stairs to the top floor.

• Then it is sent to the spreading and cutting department on requirement either on same floor or on 1st floor.

• Form there the cut parts are sent to the embroidery section in the ground floor if required, otherwise it is sent to the sewing lines (1st floor).

• Form the sewing lines, it is sent to the washing department (ground floor) for various processes.

• After washing, it is sent for final inspection, finishing and packaging (1st floor).

• Till the whole order is packed, it is kept on the sewing floor and then is dispatched as per the requirements.

Flooring

• Flooring is the important parameter in the industry.

• Flooring used in the building is concrete.

• The concrete flooring is used as the machinery used is of medium weight in nature, which requires strong flooring.

• most versatile Flooring material.

Flooring

• Concrete offers compressive strength to the floor that is about 60% higher than usual flooring solutions used.

• Tensile Strength of flooring tiles increases by 70% in case of concrete flooring.

• The surface finishing for concrete flooring does not require cement thereby reducing the raw material costs in this regard. In addition to this the floor becomes abrasion resistant and the floor wrapping is reduced considerably.

Clearances

• Line to line clearance is around 4ft.

• Machine to machine clearance in olwega (levis bottom) section is 4 ft.

• Machine to wall distance is around 10 ft.

• Aisle space is 3ft.
