the reader should buy it

Backgroundthe background is not intrusive and gives an indication

of the well known ‘Rovers Return’ pub this works well for a social realism cover, the background is in

black and white to make the star stand out.

Featurethe strapline follows the same conventions as the masthead in terms of colour and font. The word

‘Corrie’ has be designed in the form of a street name sign showing the brand of the soap.

Coloursthe radio times follows a simple colour scheme which

isn't very distracting for the audience yet the gold border attracts the readers interest

My First Flat PlanI incorporated strong conventions in order to create a realistic TV magazine.

By drawing my ideas onto a piece of paper before knowing what i needed to shoot.

I then decided that the arrangement of the features didn't work well so I created a digital copy and moved things to follow conventions strictly.

E4 Misfits

Imagesthe images are shot as medium close ups, showing

characters orange community service jumpsuits which show the context of the program

Layoutthe layout resembles a comic strip, fitting the genre of it being a ‘superhero’ story, the black frames around each character separate them like they all have their

own problems

Coloursthe colours used in the poster are very dark

conveying the dark themes of the series, this is similar to my soap.

Characterslarge, overlapping the star’s head, white text black

outline. the masthead also includes additional information about the magazines website and the

TextThe poster contains minimal text only programme specific information printed onto the branded tape.the poster does not give any indication of character

names or storylines.

Although this is not part of the social realism soap genre it gives an indication of how E4 targets its audience

BBC Three Being Human

BrandingThe BBC Three branding runs subtly

across the bottom of the page, however it gives no details as to when it is on, what

the show is called.

BackgroundThe supermarket background is used to

convey real life within the drama, the background of a supermarket takes from the title of ‘Being Human’ and doing new

human things

CharactersAll the characters show eye contact with the viewer.

Although not social realism, the poster shows each characters unique ability, or personality. The positioning of the characters shows their relationships, such as the man on the far left being

close to the woman. The costume of the characters are useful in showing that they are working class casual people, who

aren't wearing suits, dresses or smart shoes.
