AboutDepartment of Economics
The Department of Economics is one of the most vibrant ones of Christ University. To promote the holistic development of the students and to sustain the academic creativity and inventiveness of the faculty the department engages in numerous workshops, seminars, industrial interfaces, faculty development programmes and many such endeavours. Students are constantly encouraged to take part in various academic and non-academic activities. The Department organizes various National level competitions with the combined efforts of the teachers and students.
The department prides itself on its diverse student profile. Students from various backgrounds and courses are a part of the department and they bring with them their own unique ideas and knowledge. A significant number of foreign students also pursue the Economics course. The opportunity to work and learn in a diversified environment further enriches each student'slearning experience.
The vision of the department is to develop uniqueness for the course through
unbiased approach to ideologies and realms of knowledge and at the same time,
attaining versatility in application of skills and tools to issues and problems in
economics recognising the contribution of other disciplines.
The mission of the department is to achieve excellence in economics by
integrating the most relevant areas and developments in the field of economics
together with state of the art technical skills, still maintaining a holistic

The curriculum of the course has been designed taking into account the latest
development and demand of business sector. The master program aims at
developing a student’s intellectual ability, executive personality and
