FOREWORD
Hello fellow photography khaki,
It’s my great honor to be invited by Mr Alex Lim to join the Photography Khaki Group since one year ago. For the past one year, I’ve experienced an exciting journey yet challenging in managing my time efficiently to join PKG activities. Mr Alex Lim has certainly done an excellent job in keeping everyone’s adrenaline high and intriguing. PKG is one of the most active Facebook group I’ve came across where photos were actively posted on the walls every few hours and constant tips were exchanged between photographers.
My passion for photography started out much later than any professional or veteran photographers. But this doesn’t hinder me in achieving my new found dream and pas-sion. Presently, I’m a commercial photographer specializing in still life photography for advertisements.
Inspired by my friend in late 2010 and equipped only with a humble camera, I started taking only Singapore night cityscapes initially and later progress to experiment off camera flashes or strobist with my budget equipment setup. The burning passion had propelled my curiosity further, I decided to explore the commercial value of my newly acquired skills and setup my own company in mid-2011. With a crystal clear direction and targets in mind, I constantly attend business networking sessions every week in hope of getting myself recognized. However this path is not always smooth sailing. Juggling between my day job and business, I face challenges in stressful time manage-ment, undesirable sales, strong criticisms and competition from peers, but I persevere.
After tremendous time and effort over 2 years, my self-taught photography skills and strong determination had finally paid off and rewarded with several commercial assign-ments for countless corporations, globally renowned brands and even historical international events. My work could be found prominently in shopping malls, on the streets and up in the air for airlines in-flight magazines. Occasionally, I’m invited for interviews or speak in local media and publication. I constantly seek an objective to spread and promote my passion in this competitive photography industry.
Lastly, I hope my story could inspire fellow photographers in taking your photography to greater heights.

Specializing in Food and Product photography, Calvin pas-sionately pursues visual perfection with remarkable talent and creativity. His global art sales began when he was cho-sen to represent Singapore as the featured international photo artist for Asian stock photography and further spurred by featured interviews with Yahoo news, JobsCen-tral and MediaCorp TV channels on his entrepreneurial pho-tographic success.
After achieving countless experiences in the photography industry, contributing to many highly acclaimed functions & events, his exceptional work of art had earned him the top
finalist spot on MediaCorp Channel 5 TV Nikon photography competition, "The Big Shot 2". Equally comfortable in front of the camera, Calvin was occasionally invited as guest speaker for several nationwide high key food events, media and publications. One of which was a special invitation by Nikon Singapore as guest speaker and judge on food photography for the premier and leading food and lifestyle broadcas-ter; Asian Food Channel (AFC).
He also appeared on ClickNetwork’s TV show for “Food Styling and Photography” epi-sode and garnered more than 59,000 viewers.
Harnessing the advance photography technology, he occasionally does light painting during his free time and was invited by URA as guest presenter for Asia’s first and only sustainable light art festival; i Light Marina Bay 2012.
His impressive clientèle base includes: ABR Holdings, Singapore Press Holdings, Luxury Lifestyle Magazines, Cold Storage, Swensen’s, Lee Kum Kee, Fonterra Co-operative Group, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, Ippudo SG, Select Group Ltd, National Heritage Board, The Cocoa Trees, World Association of Chinese Cuisine, etc.

Olive Backed Sunbird (male) feasts on Heliconeae plants… it seems those growing vertically had been exhausted, so with some acrobat-ics, the downwards facing two were soon plundered . What agility!
Dark Necked Tailorbird (male) in breeding plumage sounds alarm whilst mum teaches their young to fly. Shot in gar-dens of private condo during a visit, Carib-bean at Keppel Bay.
Common Flameback Woodpecker, (male), majes-tically defies gravity on tree stump on boundary of Pasir Ris Park, East side, between holiday chalets and private condos.
