P I S T O N S E A L
PG The PG Piston Seal is a compact, bi-directional seal designed for medium to heavy duty hydraulic cylinders. It is a two component design consisting of a Hytrel® HY55 seal ring and 70 Shore A NBR Square energizer. The PG Piston Seal is simple to install resisting rolling and twisting in long stroke cylinder applications.
The high strength of the Hytrel HY55 material prevents seal extrusion allowing for elevated operating pressure. It offers excellent wear resistance and a wide operating temperature range. The seal ring is designed with a built-in fluid reservoir between the sealing lips, to retain lubrication, which lowers the breakout and running friction ensuring extended seal life. Additionally, the seal ring has molded in axial pads providing proper pressurization to prevent “blow by” during rapid pressure reversals. The 70 Shore A NBR Square energizer provides stability and the initial pre-load for proper sealing.
The PG3 Series Piston Seal is designed to retrofit standard North American housing standard (NPFA T3.19.18), which is commonly referenced as a rectangular piston seal.
The PG5 Series Piston Seal is designed to retrofit the common Industrial O-Ring housing standard.

Extrusion Gaps
Maximum recommended diametrical extrusion gap @ 180°F when taking into consideration the maximum eccentricity of the piston and utilizing precision tolerance wear rings.
