Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna
The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna is a public university, offering
Masters and PhD courses
At undergraduate level, it works as the Honors College of the
University of Pisa.
Potential undergraduates undergo a rigorous public examination,
and only the very best are creamed off to combine their studies at
the University of Pisa with the additional education received at the
Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna.
These students are called Honors College Students (Allievi
Ordinari)
Honors College Students live at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna
and study totally free of charge. They have to get top marks in all
their exams and show proficiency in two foreign languages.

ReTiS LAB - Real Time Embedded Systems - CEEICP
In 2007, the ReTiS Lab (Real-Time Embedded Systems) joined the Centre establishing an
even more important Centre for information and telecommunication engineering.
ReTiS Lab works in the field of information engineering, especially referring to two main
application scopes: the systems dedicated to "real-time" applications and the systems for the
modelling, simulation, management and automation of procedures and documentary flows.

PERCRO LAB - Perceptual Robotics - CEEICP
In 2009 activities were further expanded with the confluence of the PERCRO Lab
(Perceptual Robotics), including the subject of Perception Engineering (perceptual
robotics). PERCRO’s mission is to conceive and develop Advanced Interaction Concepts and
Technologies for improving the communication between the humans and the reactive
environment, with special attention to Virtual Environments and Tele-Robotic Systems.

The Centre was established in 2001.
The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and its InReTe Lab in collaboration with Marconi Communications SpA (now Ericsson) and in partnership with CNIT (National
Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications), signed a ten-yearagreement for the creation of a research centre for photonic networks and
technologies, signal optical processing and communication systems and optical fibre sensors.
The integrated ensemble of InReTe (Telecommunication Network Engineering) lab with CNIT National Photonic Network Laboratory (LNRF) jointly presents
itself as the IRCPhoNeT – Integrated Research Centre on Photonic Networks and Technologies.

Research Centers
Polo Sant’Anna Valdera (PSV) is the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies’research park, an advanced structure that provides an ideal environment where research and university level education in high-tech sectors are conducted.
The goals that the Sant’Anna School hopes to attain through PSV can be ascribed tothree main intervention policies:- to boost research by creating an environment capable of stimulating cross-fertilisation between the various disciplines;- to exploit research results and build a bridge with international centers of learning; - to support local development policies through: collaboration with local and national partners, incentives for the birth of and start-up assistance for newhigh-tech companies and the offer of educational training and consulting.
