MR. AND MRS. COBURN HASKELL donated the beautiful fountain entitled “Welcome Friends” in 1998. Today, it graces the entry of the new Rideout Regional Medical Center.

The fountain, commissioned from artist Rosalind Cook, was a gift from the Haskells in memory of Gerald Alfred Shearin, the beloved father of Mrs. Haskell.

The late Cobe Haskell served on the Rideout Board of Directors for many years, supporting many Foundation programs and projects. Mrs. Haskell is still very much a cherished friend of the Foundation.

Preparing for the FutureThe Rideout Health Foundation Invests in Our Community’s Newest Members

Annual AppealIn 2015, the Rideout Health Foundation led the effort through our Annual Appeal Campaign to support the development of a high-quality Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for our most fragile babies. The campaign goal of $325,000 was achieved with proceeds from the Year-End Appeal, Fairway to Health and Dance with Our Stars. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit will be located in the Maternity Department at Rideout Regional Medical Center.

Immediate Left: The Resuscitaire, the ideal device to have during labor and delivery procedures. It combines an effective warming therapy along with the components needed for clinical emergency and resuscitation.

Major Gifts/Planned GiftsMore than one hundred years ago, one woman in Marysville, Phebe Rideout, saw a need and had a vision — to establish a hospital for people needing specialized

medical care right in their own neighborhood. Phebe donated her Marysville home and planted a seed that still lives today.

The Rideout Health Foundation staff is ready to help you meet your unique financial needs by:

• Providing gift plans that benefit you and your family.• Bringing immediate and deferred tax advantages to

both you and your heirs• Having a meaningful impact on Rideout Health and

our goals and interests, beyond your own lifetime and far into the future.

Charitable Gift Annuity: A charitable gift annuity provides an income fund for the donor.

Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity: Similar to the charitable gift annuity, the deferred charitable gift annuity may be a better choice for younger donors who are planning for supplemental income when they retire.

Insurance Naming: Rideout Health as the

primary or contingent insurance policy beneficiary is another popular gift.

Charitable Remainder Annuity: The charitable remainder annuity is irrevocable and provides a fixed income based on the value of the assets at the time the trust is created.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust: The charitable remainder unitrust is also an irrevocable trust, but provides fluctuating income based on a fixed percentage of the annual value of the trust.

Charitable Lead Trust: The charitable lead trust allows the donor to provide the medical center with income for a specific number of years, which he or she determines (five, 10, 15, 25 years or more).

Preparing for the FutureHow You Can Help

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

TributesGiving a gift to Rideout Health Foundation for a loved one is a meaningful way to honor or memorialize that person. Tribute gifts can be a perfect birthday, wedding, or holiday gift for the person who has everything.

When you make a tribute or memorial gift, The Rideout Health Foundation will send a letter to the recipient or the recipient’s family to let them know about your gift. The amount of your gift is not disclosed. We also will send an acknowledgment to you as the donor.

This act of kindness says so much, especially when you choose a program or service that would have been meaningful to that person.

EndowmentsAn endowment is a financial asset, in the form of a donation made to a non-profit group, institution or individual consisting of investment funds or other property that may or may not have a stated purpose at the bequest of the donor. Most endowments are designed to keep the principal amount intact while using the investment income from dividends for charitable efforts.

Types of EndowmentsTerm Endowments usually stipulate that only after a period of time or a certain event can the principal be expended.

Unrestricted Endowments are assets that can be spent, saved, invested, and distributed at the discretion of the institution receiving the gift.

A Quasi-Endowment is a donation by an individual or institution who give the gift with the intent of having that fund serve a specific purpose. The principal is typically retained while the earnings are expended or distributed per specifications of the donor. These endowments are usually started by the institutions that benefit from them via internal transfers or by using unrestricted endowments already given to the institution.

Restricted Endowments have their principal held in perpetuity, while the earnings from the invested assets are expended per the donor’s specification.

Guardian AngelsPay tribute to that special doctor or care-giver by making a donation to the Rideout Health Foundation. It’s your opportunity to support the only local community hospital while acknowledging your special caregiver as a Guardian Angel. Your Guardian Angel will receive a letter announcing your donation in his or her honor along with a special lapel pin with the exclusive Guardian Angel designation.

Property GiftsThe Rideout Health Foundation is happy to accept gifts of property. Over the years, these gifts have included vehicles, computer systems, medical equipment, and even a grand piano!

Friends of the FoundationThe Friend of the Foundation Program is an opportunity to acknowledge and be of service to those who support Rideout Health through the Foundation. It provides special benefits and personal attention by the Foundation staff at all facilities within the Rideout Health system. (See the story on page 23.)

Join the Rideout Bequest SocietyHelp Ensure Quality Healthcare for the Future of Our Community

The Rideout Health Foundation is dedicated to those very special friends who have had the foresight and wisdom to remember the Foundation in their estate plans with a sig-nificant bequest of $10,000 or more. This special group of individuals, people dedicated to being guardians of Rideout Health and ensuring quality health care services will be here for years to come for our communities.

PurposeEvery year, the Rideout Health Foundation receives contributions from donors that provide support for existing programs and services affiliated with Rideout Health. These important gifts support programs that might not otherwise be available.

The Bequest Society was formed to recognize donors that leave a gift to the Rideout Health Foundation in their will, trust or other type of planned gift now, guaranteeing that the work of the Foundation will continue for decades to come.

This program is an opportunity to leave a gift to support a health care program or service that is near and dear to your heart and will touch the lives of so many here in our community.

Goals• Encourage the active support and participation of

bequest donors through increased communication and information about Rideout Health Foundation programs

• Stimulate an increased pattern of giving through bequests to support the Foundation and enhance the quality of programs

• Appreciate and recognize those whose generosity serves the advancement of Rideout Health Foundation programs

Becoming a member of the Bequest Society is a simple process. Membership occurs when an individual or couple has placed the Rideout Health Foundation in their estate plan for a minimum of $10,000. Bequest Society inductions are held at the annual Evening of Appreciation Dinner, serving as an inspiration to others.

We have many worthy choices to consider when leaving a legacy. We encourage everyone to support their local community to improve the quality of life for friends, family and people in need. Longtime residents Douglass E. (Doug) and Sybil (Jean) Goss of Yuba City and Friends of the Rideout Health Foundation leave the largest estate gift the hospital foundation has ever received, $2,241,704.

Sharing with others through charitable gifts can be one of life’s greatest pleasures. And Mr. and Mrs. Goss did just that. Having very positive experiences at both Fremont and Rideout hospitals, they named the Fremont-Rideout Foundation as a beneficiary of their Estate Trust and a Life Insurance Annuity totaling $2,241,704.00.

Mrs. Jean Goss was born in Dana, IN, and moved to California in 1927. In 1950 she married Doug Goss and moved to Yuba City. She became a supporter of the Fremont-Rideout Health Group after gaining confidence in the quality of health care provided to the community.

Jean worked part-time for the Sutter County Assessor’s Office while her husband worked as an electrical engineer for Pacific Gas and Electric Company from 1947 until his retirement in 1984. Doug passed away in 1999.

Doug and Jean’s two Estate Trusts amounted to $2,140,879 specified for both Fremont and Rideout Hospitals, and Jean’s Life Insurance Annuity of $100,825 was specified to benefit the Rideout Foundation Scholarship Programs.

One of Jean’s hobbies was tending to her 75 rosebushes and 12 citrus trees. Jean passed away in January of 2016 at the wonderful age of 96.

The Rideout Health Foundation appreciates very much the thought and careful planning Mr. and Mrs. Goss placed in their estate plan. Much of the credit in bringing this amaz-ing contribution to fruition is due to the careful guidance given by Mr. Brad Willoughby, Financial Advisor, Edward Jones, Yuba City, Mrs. Paulla Hyatt-McIntire, Attorney at Law, specializing in Estate Planning, and longtime friend Gene Erfle, Estate Trustee, and his wife Joan.

The Foundation will permanently recognize the Gosses with a plaque for their generous gift and include rosebushes in their honor in a new Healing Garden planned for the new expansion.

Charitable Gift AnnuitiesThe gift that pays you a guaranteed income while helping others.

CD rates are disappointing. The stock market is a rollercocaster. Real estate can be a headache. Managing retirement income is challenging and uncertain.

Consider a charitable gift annuity. You will receive a guaranteed income for the rest of your life, just like Jean and Doug Goss did, and Rideout Health will receive your donated assets.

ANNUITY PAYMENT$10,000 Gift with One Income Beneficiary

Age Payout Rate60 4.4%65 4.7%70 5.1%75 5.8%80 6.5%85 7.8%90+ 9.0%

When considering a charitable gift annuity to Rideout Health, Jean and Doug wanted to accomplish two goals: supporting their local hospital and guaranteeing income from their assets.

By providing a charitable gift annuity to Rideout Health, Jean and Doug were able to do both. Their gift annuity ensured they had ample income for the rest of their lives, and it also gave them the satisfaction of knowing that they contributed to quality health care in the Yuba-Sutter communities – a place they loved to call home.

Charitable gift annuities are a way to secure your future while giving back to others. We invite you to call to determine if a gift annuity might be right for you.

Your gift could benefit the hospital in many ways:

• State-of-the-Art Medical Equipment• Health Care Programs and Services• Scholarships and Education• Endowments

The Year in Review

Capital Campaign Major ContributorsRideout Regional Medical Center will soon open its doors to our community. So many of the life-saving technologies, like the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit equipment, were provided by our donors. The beautiful regional artwork – found throughout the hospital – was also funded through the generosity of our community supporters.

Even with carefully mandated bond issues and other financing, Rideout Health must rely on outside financial support to upgrade facilities and acquire the equipment necessary to provide the very best healthcare to the communities we serve. It is civic-minded philanthropists who have always bridged the gap, thereby allowing us to provide quality and compassionate healthcare for all.

The Rideout Regional Medical Center Capital Campaign is an effort that will unite hospital family members. It is an

opportunity to join with others and truly make a difference. Funds raised from the campaign are placed in a restricted fund specifically for RRMC, securing financial support for years to come.

Naming opportunities are available throughout the facility. Contact us for information on how you can join others and leave a legacy. Below are a just a few of the generous supporters.

The G.S. Thiara Emergency DepartmentDonated by The Thiara Family, Gurdev and Satinder ThiaraGurdev immigrated to the U.S. in 1960 at the young age of 20 to join his father and brother. He began working in the local farmlands in Sutter and Yuba counties. Energetic and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, Gurdev and his brother dared to own their piece of America. At the age of 24, Gurdev was an agricultural businessman, a farmer with his own land in Sutter County. Satinder, the daughter

of a prominent Indian military family, aspired to come to America and follow her passion for a career in medicine. The two were married in 1967 in Punjab, India. Gurdev and Satinder’s optimism and vision have brought them forward 50 years where they are now the owners of an agricultural enterprise that spans thousands of acres of orchards in Northern and Central California. Ask them and both Gurdev and Satinder will tell you that they derive satisfaction

and a sense of accomplishment from the success of their sons, Gary and Shindi, and their daughters-in-law, Navneet and Virpal. Their greatest joy is the daily commotion of their grandchildren, Ethan, Jack, Annika, Emma and Ryshum.

The Johl Emergency Department Waiting AreaDonated by Sarbjit Singh & Prabhjot Kaur JohlSarbjit and Prabhjot are long-time residents of Yuba-Sutter. They’ve been devoted to enhancing the community they call home and where they’ve raised their three daughters: Kiran, Anu and Sureena. As a businessman, Sarb cultivates his orchards of peaches and walnuts; while Prabhjot cultivates young minds as a teacher. Over the years, they’ve dedicated themselves to volunteer work at the local Gurdwara (Sikh Temple), by teaching at a Sunday School to share their culture with Punjabi children, and participating in various organizations to support local agriculture. They are pleased to support the Rideout Regional Medical Center and see it as an important resource for quality healthcare for local residents.

The Hunji CaféDonated by Hardial Singh Hunji The Hunji family history is one of courage, vision and hope. Gurdas Singh Hunji, Hardial’s father, first came to the United States in 1910 from the Village of Moggowal, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab India, returning permanently in 1918. Hardial followed in 1948 representing the first generation of Indian immigrants to the Yuba-Sutter area. He was joined by his mother Dhanti, wife Kushlia, and daughters Ablasha and Amer in 1952. A third daughter Prem was born in Yuba City’s Fremont Hospital, prior to its merger with Rideout Health. Kushlia went to college in her later years and became a well-respected real estate broker. With long hours of hard work, sacrifice and support of the family, Hardial eventually purchased property and became a successful farmer. He became a leader in the East Indian community, contributing selflessly to many charitable organizations, here and abroad. A Sikh Indian, among his most poignant contributions was donating the land and funds to build the Sri Narayan Temple in honor of his late wife whose dream was to build a Hindu temple where all are welcome. Hardial, at age 100 years young, represents the American dream. His donation pays tribute to his parents and his late wife, and to Rideout Hospital for

welcoming all who are in need.

The Johl Waiting AreaDonated by Sarbjit Singh & Prabhjot Kaur Johl In Honor of Gurbax Singh Johl & Jaswant Kaur JohlMr. Gurbax Singh Johl and Mrs. Jaswant Kaur Johl immigrated to the Yuba-Sutter area from Punjab, India in the 1960s. As they settled their family, started farming and integrated into the fabric of Yuba City’s Punjabi community, they also found many opportunities. Before developing family roots here, the couple endured the massive migration triggered by the India/Pakistan partition in 1947. Early in their marriage, they found themselves raising Mr. Johl’s younger siblings after the death of both his parents. Over the years, they took great pride and joy in their family, making all the trials of an immigrant worthwhile. Gurbax Singh Johl passed away in 1988, but his legacy lives on through his wife, children, grand-children and great grand-children; many of whom remain in the Yuba-Sutter area. In honor of their father and the values he represented, the family continues his commitment to the community.

The Leal Lobby CorridorDonated by Robert and Jill LealRobert and Jill Leal joined the effort to build a new hospital tower because of how much they appreciate their community. Quality healthcare using the most modern equipment and methods is important to maintain the quality of life for all of our citizens. The Leals appreciate Rideout Health’s commitment to providing the highest level of healthcare for our community. They look forward to the continued growth and improvements the community will experience as a result of these expanded healthcare resources.

The Giovannetti Waiting AreaDonated by Ron and Norma GiovannettiRon and Norma Giovannetti are longtime residents of the Yuba-Sutter area. The couple owns B. E. Giovannetti & Sons, Half Moon Fruit & Produce Co. and N & R Trailer Leasing and have enjoyed much success along the way. Ron and Norma have always had a philanthropic spirit and give generously to many different organizations. In 2008, the Rideout Health Foundation recognized Norma with the outstanding “Community Service” award, and in 2013 Ron and Norma were awarded “Philanthropist of the Year.” Norma was diagnosed with cancer years

ago and realized a great need for state-of-the-art imaging equipment here in our community. The Giovannettis graciously contributed to the Rideout Health Foundation for the purchase of a 3D breast imaging system, the first of its kind in the area, a PET CT Scanner in the Rideout Cancer Center and the MRI at Rideout Regional Medical Center.

Thanks to the financial generosity of Ron and Norma and their time and support of the annual Fairway to Health fundraiser, many people in our community will be diagnosed early and receive life-saving treatment.

The Family CampaignAmong the most generous contributors to our fundraising campaign for the new Rideout Regional Medical Center are the very people who work here. The Rideout Health Family Campaign allows every member of Rideout Health to help support the building of the new Rideout Regional Medical Center. Our staff from every department joined in to help. Nurses and physicians; IT experts and technologists; accountants to pink ladies; and dedicated employees in-between were inspired to give. The employees donated nearly $90,000 in the first year of our “Family Campaign.” A glass “Crazy Quilt” design will be displayed on pillars in our outdoor patio area.

Fairway to HealthThe Foundation’s popular annual golf classic celebrated its 26th anniversary this year. This event has raised over 3 million dollars to support healthcare right here at home. This year the tournament and auctions proceeds of $145,000 benefited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Rideout Regional Medical Center.

A big thank you to Alex Bumpus, our hardworking Golf Committee Chairman, who led the way to a successful tournament. Right behind him were 16 hard working committee members and 8 silent auction committee members that planned and executed a memorable Baja Cantina celebration. This year, we honored Larry Geweke and Mike Wheeler for their years of support with the annual Bravos Award, a recognition award in memory of long-time friend and supporter Bill Bravos. A special thank you to the 180 sponsors and silent auction donors, 174 golfers, 50+ volunteers and Peach Tree Golf & Country Club staff for yet another successful event. Grab a little golf pencil and write down Thursday, May 4 – Sponsor Party – and Friday, May 5, 2017 – Golf Tournament. Alex Bumpus will again lead the golf committee. Thank you Alex for stepping up to the “tee”.

Dance with Our Stars 2016 marked the 6th Anniversary of Dance with Our Stars. The event was held at Colusa Casino Resort, where ten local “celebrities” pledged to raise a minimum of $5,000 each for the opportunity to participate. They really outdid themselves this past June! They not only did a fantastic job of fundraising and friend-raising – but they delivered a fantastic, fun-filled show! To top things off, the community support was just amazing.

Outreach Programs

HospiceThe Rideout Hospice staff spearheaded some amazing programs for patients. Gifts were given to honor Veterans for their service to our country, Thanksgiving dinners were provided to needy families and all families are offered a special memory box to help with the loss of a loved one.

Cancer CenterAt the cancer center, we provided special comfort items for breast cancer and chemotherapy patients, and cancer center staff hosted a special Cancer Survivor Celebration. Thank you to everyone who made this all possible.

Financial Assistance Program for Cancer and Hospice PatientsAt both the Cancer Center and Hospice, Patient Discretionary Funds assist patients with immediate needs such as food, medications, utilities, fuel and medical equipment, and in some cases even rent or mortgage expenses. Since the Funds were established in 2008, over $340,000 has been allocated to help patients in need.

Lung Cancer Awareness and Education November is Lung Cancer Awareness month. November also marked the 3rd Annual Rideout Thoracic Surgical Oncology Lung Cancer Awareness and Celebration of Life Dinner where we host a celebratory and educational dinner for many of our lung cancer patients. The educational talk included lung cancer epidemiology, early detection, treatment and outcomes. Attendees were encouraged to become “Soldiers for Lung Cancer Awareness” by sharing with others education regarding lung cancer screening, current diagnostics and treatments available.

Scholarship & Financial AidThis year, the Foundation’s Financial Aid & Scholarship Program earmarked funds in support of the education of current and future healthcare professionals. Allocations included:

• Loans to Rideout Health employees furthering their education in healthcare.

• Jan Frank Nursing Leadership Scholarships to Rideout Registered Nurses pursuing their Bachelors or Master’s degree in nursing.

Teen Leadership CouncilOur Teen Leadership Council is comprised of students from eight local high schools who are interested in pursuing medical and healthcare-related careers. The Teen Leadership Council Program consists of three educational elements:

• Healthcare Education• Community Service• Philanthropy

The program also encourages them to be engaged citizens, no matter what career path they follow. Special thanks to their school liaisons: Tammy Pierce, Program Coordinator, and Steve Hammarstrom and Tanya Mullen with Rideout Medical Associates, for their ongoing support.

Community GardenLast October, Rideout Health partnered with Pacific Coast Producers and the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds to develop a Community Garden in response to one of the Community Health Needs Assessment top 5 health needs, access to food and nutrition. The garden has already produced vegetables distributed to food desert areas by the Western Farm Worker’s Association. Our Teen Leadership Council class of 2016/2017 adopted the community service project and recently planted fall vegetables, helped with a clean up project and will help distribute vegetables to areas known as food deserts, where access to healthy food is a challenge.

Health FairIn partnership with Rideout Clinic, the Foundation sponsored a Community Health & Wellness Fair last September providing free health screenings, safety services and healthy activities for kids. Our gratitude goes out to physicians, staff, volunteers and our health partners for bringing this event to help our community become better stewards of healthy living.

Rideout Healthy KidsTo support our community wellness initiative, the Rideout Healthy Kids school assemblies program is an engaging live musical show sharing the message of good nutrition and exercise – and has been playing at school assemblies to great applause since January 2014.

A special thank you to Linda Plummer, Paul DeMeritt, and Lindsay Roberts the daring and talented TRIO who brought this program to life.

An Affair of the HeartFor our community, The Foundation partnered with Soroptimist Yuba-Sutter to offer a heart health event in February – an event with women at heart! The event included exhibitors, presentations made by guest speakers Dr. Baron Harper, a surgeon at Rideout Cardiothoracic and the Heart Center at Rideout and Christy Sillman, a registered nurse and heart survivor who talked about living and thriving as a heart survivor, and a very special fashion show highlighting heart survivors as models. Despite being once considered a “man’s disease,” heart disease is the leading cause of death in women. Thank you to the members of Soroptimist Yuba-Sutter for helping us bring this important educational event to our community.

Top Left & Right: Rideout Healthy Kids have been performing at local schools since 2014, sharing the message of good nutrition and exercise to more than 20,000 students in Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties.

Rideout and Fremont Hospital AuxiliariesServing Our Communities for More Than a Half-Century

We would like to salute the wonderful work done by the Hospital Auxiliaries at Rideout Memorial Hospital and Fremont Medical Center.

The auxiliaries are dedicated to rendering service to the Foundation, the hospitals, our patients and families, and help with foundation projects, from mailings to assembling comfort kits and VIAL OF LIFE. Over the course of the last half-century, members of the two Auxiliaries have provided more than 1.3 million volunteer hours. Yes, you read that right – 1.3 MILLION!

Rideout Hospital AuxiliaryThis year, the Rideout Auxiliary provided support of the Patient Comfort Kit program for patients at our hospitals and the Vial of Life Program, a valuable resource for the community to use to help first responders. They render service to Rideout Memorial Hospital by managing the gift shop, the surgery hostess program and floral design. They have been busy preparing to move into a new gift shop in Rideout Regional Medical Center.

All have participated in orientations and special training to prepare for the opening. Last year, the Rideout Hospital Auxiliary membership voted to pledge $50,000 to the RRMC Capital Campaign.

Fremont Medical Center AuxiliarySince 1959, the Fremont Auxiliary has rendered service to Fremont Medical Center and the

people it serves. In November 2015, sadly, the Fremont Auxiliary disbanded the organization in preparation for the closing of the Fremont Medical Center. Some of the auxiliary members continue to serve with the Rideout Hospital Auxiliary. Members spearheaded and managed many programs and projects over the years. The Christmas Socks program for December babies, tray favors, homemade beanies and blankets for babies and families in need, managed the gift shop, information desk and a floral design team. Last December, Fremont Auxiliary gifted $10,000 to the maternity department to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Campaign, and upon distribution of assets, voted to donate $30,000 to the Rideout Foundation Scholarship Fund, a $2,000 gratuity gift to Sutter County Museum for preserving the organization’s history and the residual, $15,000 plus, will benefit Rideout Hospice. We thank all the members for the great service and fond memories. A special thank you to Marnee Crowhurst who served as the executive liaison for the Fremont Auxiliary, and Vivian Mitchell who continues work as Treasurer of the Fremont Auxiliary.

The Elaine Tarke Outdoor GardenDonated by David L. Tarke

In the mid-1970’s, Elaine Tarke was in Fremont Hospital as a patient off and on for almost two years with abdominal issues. She appreciated the care she received in our community hospital, and when she got better, she decided to serve as a volunteer to the hospital. She served for about 30 years, compiling 11,247 hours of service. Over her volunteer career, she made dozens of “tray favors.” These were little figurines that the staff would put on the meal tray—usually tied to the season.

Elaine was President of the Fremont Auxiliary two times, and she helped start the Fremont-Rideout Foundation. For all this, she won the Phebe Rideout Award in 2001.

Before Elaine’s death in October, 2014, David had spoken to his mother about making a donation to a worthy organization in her memory. The Hospital Foundation was first on her list. Elaine loved to garden so David felt the outdoor garden was the ideal choice to honor his mother.

Making a difference. Sharing your vision. Leaving a legacy. These are more than just noble thoughts.

To the Yuba-Sutter communities, they are noble deeds that can have far reaching effects in the quality of health care available to us and to future generations. The Rideout Health Foundation promotes philanthropic contributions that advance the mission of Rideout Health.

Recognizing Our DonorsOur Giving Wall, located on the main floor of the hospital, recognizes donors whose cumulative giving to RRMC has reached or exceeded $5,000. The Giving Wall is updated on an annual basis. Just as Phebe Rideout honored her son by naming the hospital after them more than a century ago, you may also remember a loved one by
