Welcome to PWC
THIS IS HOW RACING SHOULD BE!
Welcome to the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge season and the 27th consecutive year the series will provide racing fans with exciting door-to-door sprints to the checkered flag. This season will again feature thrilling multi-class racing with today’s top drivers piloting the hottest production-based race cars at North America’s best tracks – as we like to say, THIS IS HOW RACING SHOULD BE!
Over 100 cars across the series’ seven classes are set to take the grid for the 2016 season. This season’s field will feature platforms from over 20 manufacturers including Acura, Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Kia, Mazda, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, and Porsche. New man-ufacturers bringing cars to the series include KTM, Ginetta and Sin Cars. And with sports car racing stars includ-ing Johnny O’Connell, Patrick Long, James Davison and Jon Fogarty piloting this amazing diversity of machinery, the racing will be fierce and exciting.
For 2016, we are introducing our new sprint series, SprintX – SprintX races will be 60 minutes in length and fea-ture mandatory driver and tire changes. The extended sprint races will run as separate races during the Series’ “headliner” event weekends in addition to the existing sprint format championship.
With 11 event weekends scheduled in 2016 at the best tracks from coast to coast across North America, there’s most likely a Pirelli World Challenge race close to where you live and we hope to see you at the track this coming season. And for the races you can’t make in person, watch the Pirelli World Challenge from the comfort of your home – our broadcast partners CBS Sports Network, and motortrendondemand.com are set to bring you all the action.
Thank you for being a fan of the series!
See you at the track,Greg GillPresident and CEO, Pirelli World Challenge

world-renowned manufacturers including Audi, Cadil-lac, Ferrari, Bentley, Mercedes, Porsche, Acura, Nissan and McLaren are represented by some of the top driv-ers in the world.
With his fourth consecutive GT Driver’s Championship in 2015, Johnny O’Connell further cemented his place amongst the upper echelon of drivers in the series. O’Connell returns to pilot his No. 3 Cadillac ATS-V.R GT3. But for 2016 O’Connell will be joined by a new team-

mate. Michael Cooper, the 2015 GTS Driver’s Champion, moves up to GT and will pilot the No. 8 ATS-V.R GT3. Cooper had a tremendous 2015 winning four GTS races enroute to the championship.
You have to go back to 2011 to see another driver’s name listed as the GT driver’s champion. Porsche fac-tory driver Patrick Long came out on top that season and he returns to the series to pilot the No. 31 EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R. Long will team with up-and-coming driver Michael Lewis in the No. 41 EFFORT Rac-ing Porsche 911 GT3 R. Lewis started 2015 in the GTA

It takes something amazing to beat a Porsche 911.In fact, it takes a 911.
The new 911. Ever ahead.
The new 911 has arrived. And it brings with it more power, more agility and more Porsche than ever before. The product of a never-ending desire to upend the status quo and continually challenge what a sports car can be. You could say it’s like every 911 that has come before it. In other words, unlike anything else in the world. Porsche. There is no substitute.

Nissan Motorsports and Always Evolving return with two GT-R GT3s for James Davison and Bryan Heitkotter. Davison finished 4th in the Driver’s Championship last year, while Heitkotter, like Lewis, was promoted to GT from GTA after a number of podium finishes.

Back in May 2015, the Pirelli World Challenge an-nounced a new addition to its existing sprint
format racing series for 2016 – the SprintX Cham-pionship Series. The class is open to GT/GTA and GTS teams.
So what exactly is SprintX and how does it differ from the GT/GTA and GTS classifications?
SprintX races will take place at the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge headliner events, with the inau-gural race scheduled for the Canadian Tire Motor-sport Park weekend, May 19 – 22. There will be a total of six rounds throughout the season, two per weekend.
SprintX races will be 60 minutes in length and feature mandatory driver and tire changes. These extended sprint races will run as separate races in addition to the existing sprint format champion-ship.
Championship points will be calculated as a combined score from the two drivers piloting each car. A mandatory driver change will occur at the 25-minute mark of each race and drivers will be scored on their position as they cross the stripe at the end of that session. The second driver piloting the car then gets behind the wheel and will finish the race. At the race completion, the second driv-er will accumulate points based on what position that driver finishes the race in. The total combined point total from those two drivers is then calcu-lated and dictates the total points received from that race.
FIA driver criteria will be utilized to determine the approved team matching of drivers. For ex-ample, FIA listed Bronze drivers can drive with other Bronze drivers as well as Silver, Gold and Platinum, while Silver drivers can be matched with Bronze, Silver and Gold drivers. Gold drivers can be matched with Bronze and Silver drivers, while Platinum drivers can only be matched with Bronze drivers. •

If there’s a claim, stake it.
If there’s a game, change it.
If there’s a bar, raise it.
If there’s a track, tame it.
And if there’s a dream, always chase it.

PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE FAN GUIDE 2016118
PWC OFFICIAL TIREPirel l i P Zero
For more than one hundred years, Pirelli’s pursuit of technical excellence, quality and safety has includ-
ed a storied history of accolades and championships in motorsport. From its beginnings in the 1907 Pe-king-Paris endurance rally to its current partnerships on the worldwide motorsport stage, Pirelli is the leader on- and off- track. Pirelli brings its P Zero Racing Slick tires to World Chal-lenge racing as the series’ official tire supplier through the 2018 season. P Zero is the ultimate expression of Pirelli technology on road and track, where the highest level of competition and security is considered to be the minimum standard. Whether competing with factory teams at the highest level or with club drivers on their local circuits, Pirelli supplies over 50 racing series around the world. In recent years Pirelli has become best known for its activ-ities in grand prix, sports and GT categories where, in addition to winning many different championships,
Pirelli P Zero – The Official Tire of PWC
PIRELLI WORLD CHALLENGE FAN GUIDE 2016120
there has been a direct technology transfer between P Zero racing tires and P Zero road tires. This continues as a testament to Pirelli’s motto: “We Race What We Sell And Sell What We Race.” The story of P Zero began over 35 years ago with the invention of ultra-low profile tires in conjunction with Lancia for competition. This platform for extreme experimentation created a new segment in the tire business – one where Pirelli is the recognized leader (ultra-high-performance), and where generations of en-thusiasts, racers and drivers of all stripes rely on P Zero to be the pinnacle of performance driving. Whether on the track or in one of Pirelli’s R&D laboratories, P Zero has benefited from drive time at racing venues around the world, which has provided Pirelli the real world data for research and development that fuels its strong sporting image.
Today’s World Challenge P Zero Racing Slick has an ex-ternal profile and internal structure that is designed to maximize the dimensions of the contact area. The tire’s belt geometries and highly aromatic oil-free (HAOF) materials have been developed to optimize the lateral force generated in cornering on the racetrack. Begin-
ning with the 2016 season, all top-level GT champion-ship series world-wide will compete on the same high performance compound.
The Pirelli Group has made significant efforts towards continuous quality improvements in all fields, from research, productive processes, products for the final consumer and continuous development propelled by motorsport. Pirelli is at the forefront of cutting-edge product creation, and is dedicated to sustainability as a Group and amongst each of its individual business units. This dedication is one of the key factors in the de-velopment of some of Pirelli’s most important products to date – including P Zero Racing Slick used by Pirelli World Challenge. •
