Welcome to Pioneer Memorial Church. This is a wonderful time of year to be in southwest Michigan. The leaves are just now beginning to change and everything is just perfect. The cooler weather is setting in and it is a wonderful time to be in this little part of the world. I am always reminded this time of year that God is a God of change. The seasons remind us of the journey that He has for us. The breathtaking explosion of color that is right around the corner is a beautiful reminder of what God longs for each of our lives. What are some of the changes that God is working on in your life? What are the areas that the Spirit is pushing you toward? No matter where you are on your journey, we welcome you to Pioneer this morning as we sit back and watch God work. The best is yet to come!

—Ben Martin

EDITORIAL

It’s on people’s minds. Millions of books have been sold—too often with the truth left behind. Social

media is filled with people sharing and re-sharing conspiracy theories about it. As ongoing wars rage across the world, and hurricanes, and tornadoes and floods rock the planet on a regular basis, people around the globe are asking, “Are these the last days?”

Starting Friday, Oct. 19, during The Appearing, we’ll explore that topic by studying what the Bible has to say about the Second Coming of Christ. In addition, you’ll take a closer look at the ancient prophecies of the Bible and piece together a startling but un-deniable picture of last-day events that may come as a surprise to many people.

This series, hosted by Voice of Prophecy Speaker/Director Shawn Boonstra, will take a documenta-ry-style, Bible-based approach to this topic. This series will address questions such as:

• What does the Bible say about the battle of Armageddon? • Did the Bible predict the storms, wars and political unrest we see today? • What will it actually be like to ex-perience the Appearing of Jesus?

• What does the Bible say about a “secret rapture”? • What are the signs that point to the Appearing? • What will heaven really be like? Pioneer Memorial Church is

thrilled to be hosting this series. The Appearing will involve both docu-mentary-style presentations by Shawn Boonstra, and live elements that I’ll be facilitating.

All are welcome to attend this free event.

“Each session highlights key Bible passages that dispel many of today’s most popular myths about the last day, and then reveals a future of hope,” said Boonstra.

Topics will include: “A Planet in Upheaval,” “The Abomination of Des-olation,” “The Appearing,” “Prophecy Interrupted,” and “The Battle of Ar-mageddon.” The Appearing begins Friday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 PM in the PMC Youth Chapel.

You may register to attend on-site during this free event, by calling 269.471.3543, or by visiting www.Appearing.org/berriensprings .

Rodlie Ortiz is the pastor for "This Generation Evangelism" here at PMC.

BY SANNA ORTEGA

Tuesday mornings little feet pitter- patter to PMC’s cradle roll classroom. Mommy, Daddy, & Me (MD&M) is a play group geared for children ages birth to school age. From 10-11:30 most Tuesdays during the school year, children enjoy group play, circle story time, singing and crafts. This ministry connects mothers in the community and gives them time to relax, talk with other mothers and fellowship in a unique way.

The first time I wandered in with my infant, I wondered what was going on. Within seconds, a kindly mother paused and welcomed us. Feeling a sense of belonging almost immediately, I met other transplanted mothers who were making Berrien Springs their new home. Weekly we re-turned and began learning the routine.

Some children fly in excitedly, leaving a trail of winter clothes for their weary mothers to collect. Other children timidly spend their first few minutes peering around the roomful of activity wondering where to go first. As the children and mothers mingle, there is a pleasant buzz of activity in the air.

For the first 20-30 minutes, the play is unrestricted. Toys on blankets or tables can be found around the room. Soon the leader of the week an-nounces, “Circle Time,” and the children

and mothers gather to sit in a big circle. Educational themes are wrapped in fun stories, lessons and songs. Some themes are about an upcoming holiday or animals that God made. As circle time wraps up, a special craft is an-nounced. Children may return to playing but most go do the craft, with parental help of course.

The education is not limited to circle time. Children learn valuable social skills as they practice sharing and playing with others. Regularly there are at least 3 spoken lan-guages present. Not only are the children learning how to interact with others, but they are also learning to appre-ciate cultural and ethnic

diversity. Children enjoy playing and learning while mothers connect and bond making friends.

As MD&M nears an end, cleanup gradually begins. It is a blessing to the leaders to have so many mothers to help put things away. It also continues the education process to put toys away. When it is time to go, we get all bundled up and my little one waves as she wearily rests her head on my shoulder. She is worn out, but happy. It was won-derful to spend an hour with friends who are fast becoming family.

Sanna Ortega is a member of the Mommy, Daddy, and Me group.

Today's organ music can be taken as evoking spiritual strength in various ways. The opening, ma-

jestic setting of "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" places the striding melody in the bottom, giving a sense of solidity and assurance. By contrast, the settings of "The King of Love My Shepherd Is" portray a different strength, one not obviously forceful but rather of quiet,

calm reliance on God. Finally, a fantasie by Bach is an organ version of a compo-sition that may not, at first listening, seem to express much strength. However, with careful further listening one may discern recurring "threads" of melody that, while countered or even challenged with other musical ideas in the piece, carry it through with assurance to a strong con-clusion, good structure intact.

Return your completed cards today to the wel-come stations located at the back of the church, in the basement lobby, or at the desk located between the Youth Chapel and the Sanctuary. You and your family may want to show your appreciation in anoth-er creative way as well but we wanted to give you this opportunity today. Thank you.

Anthony and Nayeli Nix are members of the Collegedale Spanish-American Church. Their church is bulging with members, and it started a campaign to enlarge the build-ing. One Sabbath, Joel Barrios, the church pastor, preached a sermon that appealed to the members to support the campaign in a sacrificial manner. Anthony and Nayeli al-ways make large financial decisions together. This time, however, rather fearfully and on his own Anthony promised to God that he would contribute 90 percent of his wages for January 2017. Anthony explained to his wife what he had done, and then invited her to listen to a recording of the sermon. After-ward she affirmed her desire to stand by the decision he had made. Miraculously, when he returned to work he found out that his wages were to be increased a considerable amount! God cares!
