PCSD – BOARD OF EDUCATION – MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING – JUNE 7, 2005
PROGRAMS/PRESENTATIONS 2.0 2.1 Update on the Food Service Department – Cate Pritchard, Director presented to the Board with 2 handouts. The financial numbers are looking better, but the Superintendent wonders if a price increase might not be in the future for next year.
DISCUSSION/WORK SESSION 3.0 3.1 Board Report – NONE 3.2 Superintendent report – summary: Application for Grant Funding under way in many areas, Pioneer awarded 5 year $104,000/yr for the Abstinence Only Program. BOE Policy on text book review will be brought to the Board as buildings request for new textbooks begin. IDEA for children with disabilities is being covered by our PBIS at the High School and pushing down through the Middle School and into both Elementary Schools. Handout/request from the Holland School District concerning a male student that wants to join the PCS swim team. PINS reform legislation – handout for information Policy to cover donations for Scholarships needs some review 3.3 Administrator Report – Good News reported by Kevin Munro, Mike Medden, Ravo Root, Pam Kattermann, Mike Lucow, Sharon Huff, Kim Oar. 3.4 Business Administrator Report – NONE 3.5 Board Policy discussion/work session – comments by Cindy Bradfield
APPROVAL OF ADDENDUM 4.0 4.1 Motion was made by John Michael Galvin and seconded by Pauline Skeels to add the addendum to the agenda of June 7, 2005 meeting. Ayes – 9 Nays – 0 Abstain – 0
BUSINESS/FINANCE 5.0 5.1 Motion was made by Heinke Lillenstein and seconded by Mike Conroy to approve the Minutes of May 17, 2005 meeting. Ayes – 9 Nays – 0 Abstain – 0

NEW BUSINESS 7.0 7.1 Motion was made by John M. Galvin and seconded by Pauline Skeels to accept a bequest from the estate of Dorothy Anderson in the amount of $10,000 for the music scholarship and authorize the board president, Neil Kattermann to sign the receipt on behalf of the school district. Ayes – 9 Nays – 0 Abstain – 0 7.2Motion was made by Ray Haberer and seconded by Steve Markham to approve the replacement of physics and living environment textbooks designated for use by the district September 1, 2003 for the purpose of improving instruction. Ayes – 9 Nays – 0 Abstain – 0 7.3 Motion was made by John M. Galvin and seconded by Steve Markham to approve a request from the Holland Central School District, Athletic Department allowing one of their male students to join the PCSD boys’ varsity swim team for the 2005-2006 school year. 8.3.1 Motion was made by John M. Galvin and seconded by Mike Conroy that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, Jeffrey Petrus, whose certification status is School District Administrator (permanent) is hereby appointed to tenure in the administrative tenure area of School District Administrator commencing on October 21, 2005.

Galvin and seconded by Steve Markham that, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, Michael Lucow, whose certification status is School District Administrator (permanent) is hereby appointed to tenure in the administrative tenure area of School District Administrator commencing on October 15, 2005.
