Prestonpans Infant School Newsletter

October 2013

Some of our P3 children

have been delivering your

kind Harvest gifts to

Harlawhill Day Centre,

Johnny Moat Housing,

the Salvation Army

Thursday Group and to

East Lothian Foodbank.

All of these local community

groups were delighted with

your kind gifts and by the P3s

lovely singing. Thank you all.

The dining hall was full to enjoy a cuppa

and some home baking. Everyone that

gathered loved to hear the P2s sing and

dance. Thank you for coming and raising

£235 for Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Do you know anyone who has a child under 3? Can you

tell them that there is an online consultation about the

Scottish Government’s plan to increase the number of

hours a child is entitled to be in nursery. Now it’s

475hrs but it’s going to rise to 600hrs in August 2014.

The consultations asks all parents and carers how they

would want those hours to be organised. You can find

the consultation on East Lothian Council website :

We are looking in car boot sales etc

for wee figures that our children

can play with in the woods. Do you

have any old fairies, soldiers, animals, dinosaurs, heroes,

Macdonald toy rejects etc that we could have? Nothing valu-

able but anything that will get wee imaginations going. Please

hand them into the office. Thanks to Mr Ferguson, our jani-

tor, for all he’s found us so far.

The families of our P2 children are

invited to join them for a Ceilidh on

Monday at 25 November 2013 at

1.30pm in the gym hall. The children

have been learning Scottish Dancing

and have become very good. You will

be able to watch them dance then join

in and have a wee dance with them.

Kat Fairfoul and Jaqui Davie

are also on our

Parent Council.

50 tickets left and these will be on sale on Wednesday at

8.50am at the main school entrance. The disco is on

25.10.13 in Prestonpans Community Centre from 6—7.30pm

Ticket are £2 each and an adult must accompany the children.

Kittle Photographers did our class photos so beautifully. They

will be back on Wednesday 30 October from 9am to take

family and individual photos. More information to follow but

please note that date.

Please do NOT come into school through the staff car

park. Teachers have complained that there have been

dangerous incidents recently because of children and

parents being in the car park. We have to leave our

gates open on bin uplift days but this does not mean

families can use the car park. Additionally an elderly

carer needs the gate open from time to time to access

our disabled parking spot. However, no child is allowed

in the car park at any time.

Last year you said you wanted the chance to buy

Christmas Cards designed by your own child. Today

you will have a leaflet from Cauliflower cards that

allows you to do that. Cards cost £5.50 A4 or A5

sized paper and stick it onto the Customer Order

Form. Do not use staples or paper clips. YOU

MUST RETURN THE ORDER FORM AND PAYMENT

TO SCHOOL by 5 NOVEMBER 2013. This makes

£1 per pack towards School Trips. We will display the cards

and answer questions about this at Parent Consultations.
